Use to be Cool 6/25/2008

I have been shopping at Urban since it opened. I have to say I use to really like their stuff, and always felt they were up with the times. That is until late. I am not sure what happened, but it is like a whole different store. Maybe other stuff has just gotten better, or there design team left. I don't know that answer, but I know this. I have gone to the Urban Outfitters in Chicago on Clark street these past few months, and cant find anything I remotely like. If you ask me this store has lost it. I would much rather run around the corner to an American Apparel. Better price and better selection. Lets face it fashion changes over time, and Urban has lost its touch. more

Unconventional clothing store 12/17/2005

If you want to add a bit of color or style to your plain wardrobe, this is a good urban chic store to visit. Their merchandise is primarily targeted for teens/college students. Some of the stuff is overpriced, like $40 for a flimsy wrinkled t-shirt. The sales can be fairly good sometimes. I particularly like the colorful housewares and decorations they have. Lots of funky lamps and pillows. They also have incense and lots of candles to choose from. They also have some odd/interesting books that you can pick up. It was quite amusing to find the "Daily Show with Jon Stewart presents America" hardcover in the store. more

Super Fashionable clothing and Great colors 11/4/2005

I have been shopping at this store for years and they still surprise me each season. I tried to figure out what was so great about this place and I realized it may be the colors that they offer in clothing. The colors are somewhat muted so you can get for example a deep rich peacock sweater and not the average H&M bright aqua sweater that looks like cheap mainstream. The styles are super trendy and have a vintage flavor and are cut to flatter. The handbags are worth checking out and when there is a sale make sure you are there. Although the clothing is pricey...the inventory moves so fast that they end up on the sale rack at the end of the month. So if you cant afford this place then keep in mind what caught your eye then look out for it on the sale rack which usually is a 50% off discount. The accessories such as gloves, scarfs, hats and belts are so unique that they put the right touch on any outfit. It is usual that these end up in the $10 bin at the end of its run. The newly expanded home furnishings section is something to see. You can pick up some great gifts here such as candles, lamps, dishes.etc. Everything is so colorful and has a feel of Zen/hippie/Indian to it. No Martha Stewart here! more

Nice store for a different look 10/10/2005

This a great store if you are looking for clothing that is different from your usual stores like Gap, Abercrombie, etc. Urban Outfitters has a unique style and the clothing there is interesting. I been in there many times just to look around and see what they have. I haven’t necessarily found that the clothes fit my style, but a lot of people I know rave about the store. They also have a selection of furnishings for bedrooms and living rooms and some random stuff that is hard to categorize. more

Urban Outfitters 8/5/2005

This is one of those trendy, hip stores that all of the cool kids are shopping at. So if you want to be hip, definitely come to this store. They have all kinds of unique clothes that you probably wouldn't find anyone else wearing, whereas if you shop at the GAP, you are bound to run into somebody with the same shirt or pants as you--and that's really embarrassing. They have some really nice knitted hats here. I fell in love with one of them, but it was a little expensive for my budget. That's the worst thing about this store: the expensive prices. But, as the saying goes, it's expensive to be beautiful...or something like that. more
