I was there twice in the month week, found myself some vintage shoes, and now I can't take them off my feet. I sleep in them and work in them. Also, I noticed people crowded a...

Found Some Great Things 6/29/2009

I have only been here twice, but both times I have found some really great things. Like any other vintage clothing store, you have to look though and it can be furstrating if you are not into this type of shopping. more

Cheap Jack's aint so cheap...its vintage. 8/2/2006

I have been shopping at Cheap Jack's since I was 13 in my converse sneakers. At that time, The Antique Boutique and Cheap Jack's were a priority visit every time I was in the village area. Since then, Jack's has really grown. Now in its new location at 303 5th avenue @ 31st street, contact 212-777-9564 Check out the website and learn about the different eras of clothing http://www.cheapjacks.com/ The store is truly one of the last "real" vintage clothing stores left in Manhattan. It is well organized by era and the clothing is in fantastic condition for vintage. The selection is immense that it can be overwhelming at times. You wont be disappointed though. I am always in there at least over an hour. Especially with all the cute day dresses, Victorian jackets and Jackie O suits...I just have to try them all! This place is not so cheap...but has great prices for the vintage selection. A vintage t-shirt here is a real vintage shirt and not some reproduction with a common iron-on. My latest find is a fake fur coat with 3/4 sleeves with leather trimmed cuffs and pockets. It was slightly too big but I just had to have it...so the in-house tailor had to take it in. The in-house tailor does costumes for theater productions so it is a very professional job and have no qualms of having a vintage piece altered. Yes, its true...I bought a winter coat in the midst of this heatwave that it was torture trying it on in the store and wearing it while deciding to buy it. It is though, the best buy of the year for me because I now have this style coat I have been looking for for a long time. Its so shabby chic that it looks like a coat that I pulled from grandma's one of a kind collection and I am pretty confident I will never find another like it...and neither will you. more

Great if you're into this sort of thing 3/19/2006

Cheap Jack's sells used, vintage clothing. It's a huge store, with a great selection, although it can be daunting in terms of finding things. They carry both men's and women's clothes and most of it seems to be from the 70s to now, although I have found some older things as well. The prices are mostly very good, and if you have the patience for this type of shopping experience (I don't), it's definitely work checking out. more

awesome!! 12/29/2005

whether you're looking for vintage clothes for a costume party, or something cool and funky to update your wardrobe, you will definitely find it at cheap jacks. however, be ready to look, nothing is found easily. but patience and a steady eye eventually pays off, as there are beautiful dresses to be found. the clothes are divided into different decades. i think they have a really great 40's section. the prices are okay, some of the stuff there can be really expensive. However, they are in a really good quality. there are also stuff there that are pretty well priced. and they have shoes and hats too. more

Jack is not cheap 8/21/2005

This is an overpriced vintage shop. Although they have a large selection of used t-shirts, they are ridiculously priced for having already been worn. They also had some new stuff that was again, over-priced. The salespeople were not attentive at all and I had to track someone down to try a pair of pants on. I decided not to buy them even though they fit well. I was simply disgusted with the hollow customer service and the overpriced merchandise. more

Vinatge clothing mecca 8/21/2005

Sad to say that this Union Square vintage clothing store is going out of business. I've heard it will relocate but for now if you can get there you'll find the biggest selection of vintage clothing in Manhattan. I first found cheap jacks while in High School. I must say Cheap Jack's used to be a whole lot cheaper but soaring rent will cause any store to raise prices and in this case, decide to close. This place has stuff from just about every decade. Dresses, pants, hats, t-shirts, boots, you name it they got it! more
