Most people hate feet. I personally don't mind them. My feet aren't so pretty and are in need of some good tlc. This morning I saw Dr. Ferguson at this upper west side podiatry office. He was nice and gentle. Dr. Ferguson didn't cringe at my feet and didn't say, "well you have this or you have that". He pointed out what could help me and what my options were. He even took the time to show me how to massage the arches of my feet. All in all it was a good visit and it looks like my feet are on to recovery.

Look no further for the cheapest haircut in New York. Astor Place Hair has fifty stylists waiting for you to walk in. Both male and female stylists work in this huge basement salon. Men can have a barber style cut or perhaps a mullet. Great place for kids and those looking to spend their cash on better things. I wouldn't go in there looking to come out looking like Madonna. In a pinch, Astor Place Hair does the trick!

The Saint Marks Bookstore is a cute little bookstore just steps from Saint Marks Place. Even though it's no where near as big as say Barnes and Noble, you can spend hours in this bookstore. They have a wonderful collection of self-published work and the most up-to-date section of art and photography books. The most modern and hip fiction books are right up front so there's no need to go wandering around if you're just looking for a good new read. I love the strange postcards in the back of the store.

This is the prettiest shop on Chapel Street with the prettiest dresses inside. Seychelles has beautiful dresses from a number of designers including my favorite Betsy Johnson. The store is very tidy and the window dressings are always beautiful. I've never had good luck with the staff inside. Maybe I don't look like their clientèle. Either way, it's a beautiful shop if you're looking to be the bell of the ball.

With so any big budget Hollywood films, the Angelika Film Center stays away from almost all of it. With multiple screens, the Angelika is the place to see film downtown. If you're seeing a film on a weekend night make sure you buy your tickets in advance. The cafe inside has everything from popcorn to gourmet sandwiches. Pastries and cappuccino round out a well stocked cafe. This is a popular spot so get in your seats early.

Toad's Place boasts a long list of famous musicians and bands who have played this New Haven establishment for decades. With a capacity at something like 1200, Toad's is an ideal venue to see a band right before it breaks. Although I wasn't there for the Rolling Stones I did see Radiohead and Jeff Buckley in the same week. Check out their busy schedule and stop down for some new music. You'll never know when you'll see the next big band.

Studio Zee is the best tattoo shop in New Haven for someone considering their first tattoo or a tattoo that needs a lot of detail. Studio zee is extremely clean. They won't let you eat or smoke in there. You can pick a tattoo off the wall or have Zee himself draw you an original. Prices are not too bad. You can also get a piercing or just stay for the hang. Almost a mixed crowd inside. Plan to make multiple visits to this class act tattoo parlor.

Cutler's has been a mainstay of New haven for decades. They have an enormous selection of CD's spanning all genres. Cutler's buys and sells used CD's and DVD's. They have a separate classical store and a large vinyl selection of electronic and urban music. I once was in the store when Courtney Love and little Bean came in before a Hole performance at Toad's Place. You can't go wrong with the prices and service.

You can find almost anything costume related in this 4th avenue Halloween shop. The store is open year round and has a huge selection of wigs, hats, costumes and masks. I wouldn't necessarily call the service polite but they'll find you what you need. Prices are often high but that what you get for needing a devil tail in February. Check out their sister store next door. They have all sorts of goth and clubbing gear as well as clothing that leaves little to the imagination.
