Barneys New York

I ordered in Barneys an expensive dress, received only underlay of the dress with a tag. I called them multiple times, my emails got answered only after I explained my further actions unless communication will be improved, I had to take pictures of that underlay and send them , now they refuse to refund my credit card and offer only to issue a Barneys gift card. Honesty of the company can be checked only by their reaction to the problem. I never had similar problems with Saks or NM. Will never use Barneys again and will not recommend unless you need problems. more

Everytime I am in NYC I will visit Barneys but on June 6th, the saleswoman in Barney at Prada treated me very badly. After I bought a Givenchy bag, I saw a Prada bag that I liked so I picked it up to show my mother. The saleswoman pointed her finger at me and yelled for me to put the bag down as if I was going to steal it. I was dressed appropriately and I don't know why she would treat a costumer that way. The people who work in sales or customer service at Barney's are a fry cry from sophistication or aesthetic as you would expect...they look, act and dress like they came straight from the jersey shore... Yes...I would go back because like I said I do like the store and merchandise minus the sales associates ..maybe they can automate the whole process have self checkout monitors, search engines and we don't have to deal with them at all.... Unfortunately,some,not all,but some of the salespeople have confused the quality and beauty and talent of the items there with themselves. Yes , a few actually make purchasing there a delightful experience,but some of the others,usually younger and more ignorant,make it stink big time. Get some class,and learn what NYC is! You are a salesperson not anything more in that situation.Also,many are just plain ugly.The more mature ones are elegant,often and truly attractive. Barneys is supposed to be cool not cruel!. Pretty awful to see a place with so much fab hire so much mean spirited, embarrassing to look at riff raff.I am certain that that is their sophomoric idea of ""acting sophisticated in NYC!!!![lol]..No wonder it is so empty . Barneys always has such a great selection of women's fashions that pose interesting and intellectually/ artistically challenging questions (and answers). This may strike some as a drawback, but as a woman who lives in DC and thirsts for clothing that is not merely pretty but is interesting as well as gorgeous - Barneys is heaven for me. more

Always a good experience save for the shoe dept. where if they think you're taking too much time TO think about your possible purchase, they get bored and want to move on. With that, Shelby at the Goyard store is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, more so than the staff at the Paris store. Alex at Bobbi Brown is Mr. Personality Plus and always aims to please. And the Fredric Malle store is also very good - they'll let you take your time without being too pushy. Hope this helps. Pros: the jeans dept. Cons: crabby salesmen in the shoe dept. more

Always great to go back to Barney's. Great clothes, great service, and great food at Fred's on the top floor. I was there last week and basically gave them my wallet. barneys services are soooo bad. if someone doesnt wanna buy your stuff doesnt mean that someone cant afford it. the online website is a joke. out of stock items are always posted in the sale section. if you do decide to get one that is in stock, too bad it is out of stock too. and they cancel your order automatically for ""security reasons"" this is ridiculous. i tried ordering TWICE. it still says cancelled for security reasons. i recommend shopbop and revolveclothing. BARNEYS ARE OVERPRICED ANYWAY. EVEN THE SALES. the same helmut lang dress i wanted to get was on sale at shopbop but didnt have my size. shopbop sells it for $135 and barneys.... $209. I was willing to pay more to get my size but yeah i guess they are merely trying to give consumers the impression that they have alot of stock and sizes and their prices are totally a deal but its all a joke. dont ruin your day by being their customer. I have already ruined mine. more

i went to go buy my boyfriend a gift for his birthday , he wanted the jackspade bookbag for school, so i found it their, no one offered to help me, these guys there looked like air head concided modles, when it came time to pay i had to wait for the guy at the register to finish his conversation with the other employee, then they tell me they dont have gift boxes to go down stairs and ask the men their, so i go and ask and they snapped at me, they were like go back where you bought them and ask for a box, i explained that where i bought it they directed me downstairs and he said well your not egtting a box from me! i cant belive the attitude , i was so furious the man had me in tears, by far the worst shopping experience iv ever had in my life and everyone their shoyuld be fired...i bet if i walked in with a black card they'd kiss up! I dont usually write reviews. But I agree with the poster, about the sales asscoiates who dont know their merchandise, or cant be bothered. ( Trust, me I think Barneys is the absolute best fashion store in the universe...the NYC one, not all the other barneys are as fab!!!) Pros: C'mon !!!! It's BARNEYS. !!!! I love Barney's !!! It is truly the greatest clothing/fashion accessories store in the universe. Great quality, the buyers have great taste.GREAT SHOES ! I go there at least once a month when on business in NYC ! Last November I purchased a Teri Bienvenue Necklace, and earrings, suggested by a sales associate to match a dress I also purchased for a cocktail party. Very recently I inquired about the jewlery designer, and was rudely told ""her line isnt here it's only at bergdorfs"", which is untrue. I know I purchased the jewelry at Barneys, I am not an idiot, i know where I buy things, and I dont go to bergdorfs unless with my mother....LOL.... I dont expect sales stafff to know every item in the place, or the name of every designer represented at Barneys, but I always thought that the staff was their to assist patrons, not repramand them. Dont worry, I made her feel like more of a fool, than she tried to do to me. ( Had the sales slip, with the item number...I wanted another to give as a birthday gift to a friend who really loved the set i got). Then the sales girl who helped me picked the jewelry out in november emerged and she did remember the purchase, sort of. This is my only ""bad"" experience at Barneys New York . But it is still my favorite store of all time...just ignore moody sales staff, and find an associate who isnt having a bad day. Pros: Layout of the store is pleasing. As a former New Yorker I am disappointed by the tiny Barney's here in Seattle so it gave me great pleasure to bring my friends to the ""Real"" Barney's on a recent trip to NYC. Even though I was snubbed for asking to see a Prada purse and then not purchasing it (god forbid) and my friend had a similar experience with another saleswoman, Nefertiya made it all better by going out of her way to find the perfect jeans for both of us! She even offered to send things to us here in Seattle after the other girl told us they ""don't do that"" (yeah right). Thanks for your help!
