I made an appointment with Brian, a senior stylist, for a haircut on a weeknight. I was kept waiting for 30 minutes while his previous appointment was being blown out. When I was finally seated, I told him explicitly that I wanted a conservative haircut, and that I can't handle too many layers because of my coarse hair texture (I have a very hard time blow-drying at home). His ""assistant"" washed my hair by barely running her fingers through my hair with shampoo and conditioner. There was barely any massaging; I may as well have washed my hair myself. When Brian started to cut my hair, the first layer he cut was almost to my chin, which with my hair texture, I KNOW I cannot straighten on my own. Even though I made a comment that there shouldn't be any more layers, he continued to keep cutting. Furthermore, he cut all of the hair into my lap; nearly every snip he cut was in my lap (all 5 inches of it). When he dried my hair, I knew I would be unable to recreate that kind of look at home. He is clearly someone who cuts without underestanding hair texture. My chunky layers were no where close to the ""conservative cut"" I had requested. As I was checking out, I noticed that his service was $125. That was not the listed price on the website for the most junior person on the staff (it's $100 on the website). This is by far the worst & most expensive haircut I've received in NYC, and will never be going back.
Pros: Kerastase hair products
Cons: Poor customer service, unskilled hair stylist
