I understand why they request all apprentice cut appointments to be paid in advance. While some people do luck out and get decent cuts, I bet there are a lot of people who, after seeing the atrocity committed on their own head, would refuse to pay. I probably wouldn't have been one of them, because I was too much in shock at what my hair looked like. It was a truly bizarre experience, to see in the mirror uneven bangs, a puffy-mullety style that is uber-puff on top and suddenly cuts into wispy strands at the bottom. That's what an apprentice at Antonio Prieto considered a "layered cut". What was weirder was that he was so happy about it, and was able to explain so calmly why he thinks he did a great job.
I think when you are a model, you're there for the apprentice to practice his technique, but not STYLE. I see that for the top half layer he practiced what would have been a great cut for a graduated bob. For the layer beneath, he practiced what the cut one of use on a bluntly straight shoulder-length style. My head looks like a ball.
Well, I'm certainly never going back; would be too traumatizing. But, if you're looking to try something interesting, there's a...1 in 6? chance that you might get something you can live with.
Pros: Nice, mostly clean place, good looking, thin people
Cons: Absolutely no concept of what sort of hair looks good on a person
