The place is very nice. I showed up to meet with some friends on a Saturday night, relatively early. For an empty bar it took sometime for the bartender to even know I was wai...

Host Your Party At Stitch 5/7/2007

I've used Stitch to host three large (250pp++) events. The management and staff was wonderful throughout the process and I wouldn't hesitate to go back. Pros: Huge Space, Great Staff, Tasty Food more

It was my first time, but I can assure you that I will return 4/29/2007

I just celebrated by birthday at Stitch. It was a great experience. It was my first time there, but I can assure you that I will return. I was with ~20-25 of my friends and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The facilities are nice and the DJ was great (a mix of 80s, 90s and current top 40 hits). If you're interested in planning a party, contact the facility. Provided you call in advance, they'll be able to reserve a table for you. In addition, for such occasions, there's an opportunity for a top-shelf open bar deal of $30/per person for 2hrs or $40/per person for 3hrs (top shelf = specialty drinks, top shelf liquors, beers and wines). We even brought in a cake and they'll provide you with all the tools you'll need to cut and serve it up. The staff was courteous and professional and continually asking if there was anything they could do to assist our party. more

Stitch has got it 4/2/2007

Stitch is great midtown bar. They've got the formula: great drinks, great food, great music, great service. It's always a good time and they make the best Bloody Mary's! Can't wait to go back Pros: great overall vibe more

Private Party Paradise! :) 3/11/2007

I had an amazing night at STITCH. I found it here on CitySearch and reserved a space for about 40 people for my birthday. This space I reserve (without paying a fee) was by the DJ booth: looking over the main bar, very private, with its own bathroom and bar. The staff (particularly Kevin, Nick, Belinda, Maria, and Kat) were incredibly friendly, informative, accessible and consistent. Planning for the party was really easy. The DJ was great. The waitress, Kat, was amazing, she was sweet, quick, friendly and very helpful. The event manager on duty, Belinda, was constantly checking in and making sure we were doing great. The drinks were wonderful, specialty cocktails were tasty and fun (especially Suede and Lingerie!). The open bar deal of $30 for two hours ($15 for an additional hour) was fantastic, it included all the specialty drinks, top shelf liquors, and beers and wines. The door staff was pretty good, they could have been a bit friendlier but there standoffish mentality is understandable in the bar setting. I could have asked for a better place to celebrate my birthday. I was so impressed that I actually took the time to write this review. Kudos to Stitch! Pros: PRIVATE PARTY, Staff, Drinks, Music Cons: there were a couple of random bar crowd men who were being pretty inappropiate (could have just been that night) more

What a great night out. 2/26/2007

I was meeting up with some old friends on Friday and wanted somewhere central in the city to meet. We ended up at stitch (which had been recommended to me). It was perfect!! The atmosphere was fun and upbeat. We had some apps and drinks and what really stuck with me was what great service we received. I highly recommend going. more

A sweet spot on the west side 2/18/2007

I have been to stitch a few times and have been very happy with the place. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and engaging. The place is spacious and the bi-level design makes for a way for people to spead out without making things appear sparse. The upstairs level offers a good view of the people below and the huge TVs behind the bar, which are usually broadcasting games of interest. Usually the place is crowded but not overcrowded (translation: perfect). Drinks are well made and reasonably priced. I have only had a few items off the menu, and they were pretty good. The location is fantastic (near Penn station), and I have never had to wait in line at the door--(a big plus, especially in the winter time!) The crowd is mixed with respect to ages and backgrounds, which makes it a good place to link up with old friends or meet new people. I am not sure what some other people who already wrote reviews here were talking about... I have never had, (nor have I ever seen) any problems between staff and customers. \r \r Bottom Line: This place is a gem in a city full of overpriced and over-rated establishments. You get good food and drinks, meet fun people, and stumble home happy-- all from one place. What else could you possibly want?? Pros: Ambience, location, crowd, layout, music more

A great place to unwind with good friends and even better beer ! 2/10/2007

Stitch bar is run by really nice guys who maintain a snappy establishment with great service. A welcome place to hang out in a neighborhood that lacks any inviting bars. I love its friendly feeling, even though it is an enormous place that really attracks a lively crowd. more

Shame on you .... 1/31/2007

I never welcomed the world of the online reviews, but curiosity got the best of me. I logged on to check out my local watering hole, Stitch Bar. The first review I see, the review (the below this one), my suspicions were validated. People have problems and they choose to displace these problems on people in the service industry. I have enjoyed Stitch 2 to 3 times a week for a year now, and have scene many encounters the Staff and Ownership of Stitch have dealt with. They are always professional and accommodating. Hahaha ...problem with security, those pussycats. They are one of the friendliest owned/staffed Bars I have patron in NYC....people leave your problems at the door. It?s a tragedy to give good people a bad name...shame on you !!! more

Bouncer gave bar a bad name 1/20/2007

I was at Stitch for a birthday get together after work. More or less everyone was having a decent time until one of the bouncers started picking fights with people for silly reasons, even being very vulgar and nasty to one of the nicest girls I know for no reason at all. The happy hour is pretty lame as well, $5 bottles of bud? Whats the point of even advertising a happy hour? Pros: food, potential Cons: staff, happy hour more

Thank you to STITCH 1/19/2007

Having spent the last 7 years in the garment center, never had i felt compelled to stay within the area for more than 30 seconds after work. Thank you for giving me a place to hang my hat, relax and call home before my communte. Pros: Ambiance, Sports on the Big Screens, HOT staff Cons: Always busy, more

Great space, friendly staff, excellent music! 1/13/2007

My girlfriend and I recently hosted our joint 29th birthday party at Stitch on a recent Saturday night. Our group was about 35 people and we got nothing but glowing reviews from our guests. The place is spacious and comfortable and we were given a roped-off area on the mezzanine overlooking the whole bar. The atmosphere is cozy, despite the large space. Candlelight abounds and the garment district-inspired decor is unique and done tastefully. The staff was courteous and attentive; security kept our area exclusive for our guests and our waitress was always there when you needed her. Drinks were mixed well and the food was also very tasty. The main bar downstairs was packed and lively but not overcrowded and the music was top-notch. This is the only bar in town where you can hear Republic of Loose!\r \r Also, for sports fans -- they were showing the ballgame on a HUGE projection screen that was visible from anywhere!\r \r Overall, we had a great experience with our event and we'll definitely be back again. Get in touch with Nick Cohen, the owner of the bar. He'll take good care of you. Pros: size, service, atmosphere, music Cons: neighborhood a bit deserted late at night more

Lousy Bar 1/13/2007

Watered-down drinks, lousy food, awful music, indifferent service, there you have it. What they've got: Location, location, location. You're better off going to Penn Station for Happy Hour. Pros: location Cons: drinks, food, service more

By far the Best Bar in Midtown 1/12/2007

This is how a midtown bar should be. Went on a Wednesday night and had a blast. Great crowd, music, food and drink. Defiantly my new midtown haunt. Pros: happy hour, food, etc etc more

I beg to differ 1/8/2007

I dont see how this place got people talking. I went here with my boyfriend on a friday and it was a cemetary. The music was bad. The staff hardly noticed you and the bathroom could use a scub! Not a good look for my first time especially on friday. Pros: Big place Cons: Better off at a real cemetary more

Friendly service & good music. 12/3/2006

So its a cool scene, hidden but worth the peek down the street. A litle on the trendy side but the service was great and the bartender was very friendly. Even the bouncer was nice! Didnt get that edgy NYC attitude at all. more

Best place to catch a cocktail and the train home 9/27/2006

Awesome location between PAuthority, GCT and Penn stations to meet up for cocktails before heading out to the burbs! Pros: central to all commuter forms of transportation Cons: can be noisy more

Fantastic New York City Scene! 9/27/2006

Just on vacation from Miami Beach and was passing through the garment district, happened to stumble upon STITCH. What an awesome place. Beautiful art on the walls, amazing food and all in all a great place for friends. Move over Cheers, this is the New York bar that ""everybody knows your name!"" Don't forget to take car of the amazing bartenders! Pros: Great Event Spot, Central Location, Service Cons: Parking, Crowded more

Lock in your Party ... ! Talking to you RJC 9/18/2006

The lady who wrote was ""No events here"" eventgal13 is incorrect. I'm truly sorry she was not happy with her event at STITCH. As you can see from EVERY other review that we are extremely user friendly. She was unwilling to give any commitment to her own event and last year we hosted it and it was a DISASTER, with NO GUESTS and we made a loss on the event. She had ample room for her event and again a weak turn out. I still thank her for her continued business. \r \r STITCH is commited to user friendly event planning, just read the reasonable users reviews !\r \r Nick Cohen\r more

Editorial
  • Grabbing a drink with co-workers in midtown usually means sipping a Bud in a humdrum Irish pub, but Stitch is here to change that. A lively alt-rock soundtrack--think U2 and Franz Ferdinand--heals...
