Keep on trying, but change your chef 6/14/2009

The waiters are very nice and they tried very hard to provide the best service. However, the steaks were mediocre. Burned outside and very bitter taste on the edges (charred meat). Pros: nice decor Cons: Mediocre steaks more

All downhill from the bread... 5/26/2009

Our friends took us out to STK to celebrate our wedding. We had a party of 14 and a confirmed reservation for 9:30 on a Friday night. We were finally seated at 10:45. The drinks in the interim were extremely weak; I thought the bartender had misheard my order and given me just soda without the vodka, and was snooty about replacing it. The bread for the table gave me high hopes- it was outstanding. It was followed by a salad that was drenched in generic dressing and cheap-tasting cheese. My steak was laughably small (the filet medallion) and had no flavor. The texture was too chewy and very difficult to cut. For desert we had chocolate molten cake with ice cream. It was competent but nothing special. Oh, and my side of sweet corn pudding tasted like unbaked cornbread batter. The atmosphere was very lively and fun, the service was great, but the food is severely lacking. Pros: The bread Cons: Everything else more

drink but don't eat 5/23/2009

great for a drink, food very very average, cafe cluny far better options and better steak, and i think cluny is overrated, so that sums it up Cons: the food more

Great STK! 5/18/2009

I met some frieds here the other night and was impressed with the ambience and scene. Since it was a time to catch up the place was a little noisy for group conversation which was the only real downside. I really liked the ability to chose different portion sizes for the cuts of beef so that the big eaters (like me!) can go large while the girls and smaller appetites in the group don't have to feel wasteful and can get appropriate portions. Overall I would recommend this place for people looking for a scene-type restaurant and enjoy steak! Pros: Good Steak, Chops, Sides Cons: Loud Setting more

Great Business Dinner! 5/16/2009

Wow! I had an unforgettable experience at STK, and at a business dinner! The relaxed vibe really helped my clients to chill and have a great time. Our steaks were cooked perfectly... I had a boned filet with lobster--divine! The sweet corn pudding and truffled mac and cheese are an absolute must! They had some great Cabs on their wine list that I haven't seen around in a while. Definitely try the octopus with pickled fennel appetizer yum yum yum. Servers were super attentive and not pretentious which is a relief compared to other steakhouses which can be so uptight! Our waitress gave great recommendations. The DJ was great, everyone was bopping their head and smiling. Pros: Unique Wine List/Great Scene Cons: None! more

horrible 5/11/2009

it looks beautiful from the outside. but when I walked in they were playing von jovi from the 80s. cheesy, loud crowd, horrible service, ok food. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE more

Stay away 4/17/2009

The interior looks adorable and the food is just, okay. Not bad, but nothing unique or spectacular. It lacks that extra something. The servers were nice, but the food was very mediocre. The place looks great on the website, but once you actually step inside, it's pretty misleading. The food was overpriced for what we got. more

Great Place 4/13/2009

The staff and cooks here, are the best in the City around treating people like they want to be treated. I have been at least 20 times and they have been great each time. Pros: Best Place to get in NYC Cons: Everyone know's more

Excellent Food, Perfect Service and Fun Atmosphere 4/12/2009

I don't know what this person below is talking about, the service at STK has always been excellent. It sounds like they are describing a completely different restaurant. I have been to STK on several occations and everytime we have had excellent service, great food, and the kind of trendy, fun atmosphere you would expect from the meatpacking district. Pros: Example: best croissants in town Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Saturday night 4/5/2009

I heard great things about this place and decided to give it a try for a birthday dinner. The hostesses, although not rude, would certainly benefit from a charm class or two. We arrived early to have cocktails at the bar where they charged me for the blue cheese olives in my martini- so gauche- then sat us a half hour late for our reservation. Our table was cramped and noisy enough that I had to continuously ask the server to repeat himself. He was patient and knowledgeable although they were out of two of the bottles of wine I tried to order. Thankfully the food was great and worth the wait. Didn't stay for dessert and would definitely go back. Make sure you if you check your coat, you get the right coat back. more

STK 3/9/2009

I went to STK after work last Monday to have dinner and drinks with a few of my girlfriends. The food was delicious and to my surprise they had a promotion called Wine Down Monday's. They offered select bottles and glasses of wine at 50 percent discount. We had such a great time and will surely be returning to take advantage of this promotion very soon. more

Great food. Worst Service 11/29/2008

The food was great but we were rushed from the moment we sat down at the table. Food arrived before wine. Plates were taken from table as my guests were still eating. Check was dropped at the table before the desserts were served. Will not be back. Pros: Food Cons: Service more

I wish I could dine here every night 11/23/2008

I wish I could dine here every night--and don't know why I don't think to visit more often. I had dinner at STK recently with my friend. It remindeed me what a great dining experience should be. The food is outstanding, the service flawless and the atmosphere the perfect mix of elegant and relaxing. It is a relatively expensive place, but honestly, I've spent more at places of much, much lower quality. more

New Years 2009! 11/23/2008

I love this place!! Everytime I come here I have the best time with my friends. It's such a great place to unwind and let loose! I was here for New Years last year and got my tickets through JoonBug and they hooked it up!! I'm definitely coming back again this New Years and getting tickets from JoonBug again! more

As trendy as steak gets 11/9/2008

STK could not make me feel any cooler to live in NYC. I took my wife and sister in law out for their birthday to STK. The decor is absolutely amazing. It is one of the nicest looking restaurants I have seen in NY so far, and I have been to some of the great ones. Our server was very attentive, knowledgable, and made great recommendations. The food was also very good, although not as spectacular as the decor. The Shrimp Rice Krispies starter was very good and unique. Our steaks were good, but we've had better at BLT. Our sides were ok, I have had better parmesan truffle fries at Bette. The mac and cheese side was very good. Dessert was a warm chocolate smore which was also very good. Overall a great dining experience. more

STK is a definite return 11/7/2008

I loved this restaurant. Everything from the atmosphere to the food was exactly as I expected. A few of my friends and I came from out of town and made reservations here and it was definitely worth it. The restaurant is very trendy and has a New York feel to it. As for the food, the steak was amazing, the mac and cheese was delicious and I would highly recommend the warm chocolate smore for dessert. The wait staff is very friendly and very attentive. All in all, we had a great time. If anybody is looking to go to a great restaurant, they should definitely check it out. more

Here Is The Real Deal!!! 10/26/2008

The ambience of the place was great with a strong upscale NYC feel; there was a weird smell when I walked through the door like an old mildew dishtowel was sitting around by the front door. So we ordered sparkling water, a Cabernet, the 10 oz Filet, Bone-In Rib Steak, Cream Spinach, Mac and Cheese and Chocolate Brownie with Marshmallow topping. We wanted to try the Scallop Ceviche for an appetizer however; they were totally out. The sparkling water came out fine however; the waiter nor his assistance every came back out to refill our glasses over the course of the meal (that?s one strike), the warm bread was excellent with a blue cheese butter (thumbs up), the wine was good however the same issue occurred I was pouring the wine for myself and my date (strike two) over the course of the meal. I can't comment on the filet however; my friend expressed it was good. I ordered the Bone-In Rib eye cooked medium and I explicitly expressed please season the meat....it came back well done and not seasoned, which was quickly corrected (it took 7-8 minutes) which really messed up (strike three) . The cream spinach was excellent cooked just right and not over cooked the Mac and Cheese was delicious. The dessert was out of this world Warm Chocolate S'more...if love chocolate I would definitely recommend the dessert (the best part of the whole meal). Customer Service....was not horrible but pretty bad....the waiter was nice however; I'm not tipping just based on you being nice....its based on a full service experience. Food....was okay....I was expecting more from the rib eye and it wasn't seasoned (all the other side dishes were good however; everything was al carte) Atmosphere was definitely a NYC vibe, which was cool...smelly towel not cool. All in all....the total meal excluding the tip was $175....would I come back?? Probably not. If you want to be seen you probably will enjoy yourself ;). Pros: Dessert, Ambience Cons: Smelly old dish towel smell by the front door and service was WEAK. more

Definitely Not My Dads? Steakhouse!!!! 10/12/2008

The guys and our gal pal had a pretty interesting time at this place. The food was great- me and one of my boys shared the brontosaurus sized cowboy ribeye, while the rest of the crew had the super tender short ribs, our non meat eater had the tuna, and our wing-woman did the veal justice. The sides were good, usual steakhouse fare but the parmesan truffle fries were pretty awesome. Our only issue was the 40 minute wait, we walked in last minute so it was expected and we would've definitely preferred if the bulk of the waitstaff wasn't male, our femme-fatal had no problems with that. A definite repeat trip, we'll just besure to call ahead for a reservation, its MPD what do you expect. more

  • STK artfully blends the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge into one, offering a dynamic, fine dining experience, with the superior quality of a traditional steakhouse. NYC’s premier year-round rooftop featuring skyline and highline views.

Editorial
  • The Scene
Picture windows along the facade show off the pretty crowd like mannequins at neighboring boutiques. Stark black-and-white accents, from faux elephant tusks flanking the bar to the shiny ebony leather lining the lounge, infuse the space with contrast. A live DJ clinches the clubby mood.

    The Food
Meat portions, divided into small, medium and large cuts, are all generous; the humbly named "Little T," for example, offers a quality 10-ounce T-bone. A selection of garden salads--like a mache, crab, melon and avocado mix--will appease those concerned with fitting into designer duds, while lightly curried scallops garnished with peas are a seafood standout. Some mains, like the bland short ribs, don't fare as well, though any dish can be saved by the parmesan-truffle fries--a stack of lightly crisped potato rectangles packing salty-earthy power in each bite. A fruit salad punched up with black pepper provides a refreshing but assertive ending.
