My background - Have lived here in NYC for the last 10 years, and a total foodie. Besides growing up in the food industry, I have eaten most everywhere in NYC, from to Criff Dogs to Nobu.
Went to STK for a friend?s birthday on Tuesday night. The decor mimics any one of the 6 dozen lounges in Manhattan. Noticed immediately the place was loaded with models, and the older sad men who were footing the bill (seriously, each table had at least 4 models, and two guys). We had reservations for 10pm, and must say the 5 of us were seated pretty quickly. We were not sure who our main waiter was, as we had a least 3 people ask us for an order at different times! Bread was brought over, with two miniscule slivers of butter. I asked for more 2 times, but it did not come until after our main course had arrived. Our food did come VERY quick, and I felt like they were trying to turn the table over faster then Red Lobster. The Mac & Cheese was very good, the rest of the sides were so-so (Parmesan Fries, mashed potatoes, & asparagus). I had the lamb porterhouse, it was just OK. I tried a piece of both of my friends skirt steak....Not sure how anyone can make a bland Skirt Steak, but they succeeded. While our meal was going on, the tables at 12 and 3 o'clock were each having a make out session! The table of about 10 models across from us kept getting up in groups of no less then 5, in what I can only imagine were group purging breaks. On return they would hang just out in the aisle, blocking the staff....who strangely remained silent.
All in all, if you want to OVERPAY for MEDIOCRE food, and eat in a hectic lounge like atmosphere, then this is your place.
Pros: The Mac & Cheese
Cons: Overpriced Drinks, Mediocre Food, Poor Service
