Palace Theatre

The Palace Theatre was well-known on the vaudeville circuit as THE place to play. When movies squashed vaudeville's monopoly on entertainment, the theatre fell into a quiet period until the Nederlanders renovated it for use as a legit theatre in the 1960s. Since that time, the Palace has been the home of some of the greatest musical shows and events in New York history. Solo shows by Bette Midler, Judy Garland & Josephine Baker are only some of the non-theatrical events that have played the Palace. Elton John seems to like it - both AIDA & LESTAT have played here. If you love to watch live theater, the Palace theater is right for you. This is the home of the new musical "All Shook Up", which is based on the songs of Elvis Presley. (In my opinion, this musical is fantastic!!!) The location is phenominal, too; it is nice how this theater is so nearby to the hotels and how it is right across the street from the tkts booth. (Great for if you want to get discounted tickets at the very last minute!) In addition, I found the ticket price here to be quite reasonable. box office price for a mezzanine seat starts at about $60. If you buy from tkts [theater development fund], expect to pay approximately $50 plus a $3 convenience charge. Best of all are the actors who perform here. They are all very talented people who can sing, dance, and act. Every single cast member was great! Lastly, I loved the decor here. Sitting in this theater, waiting in line, or even buying souvenirs are all fun experiences due to the luxurious old-fashioned interior. I have never seen so many nice moldings and chandeliers in a theater before! more
