Hot Spot on Broadway 4/23/2006

The Palace Theatre was well-known on the vaudeville circuit as THE place to play. When movies squashed vaudeville's monopoly on entertainment, the theatre fell into a quiet period until the Nederlanders renovated it for use as a legit theatre in the 1960s. Since that time, the Palace has been the home of some of the greatest musical shows and events in New York history. Solo shows by Bette Midler, Judy Garland & Josephine Baker are only some of the non-theatrical events that have played the Palace. Elton John seems to like it - both AIDA & LESTAT have played here. Wheelchair seating is only available through the box office. The theatre is conveniently located on the east side of 7th Avenue right at the TKTS booth. more
