Master Jewelers 8/3/2011

These guys are masters at what they do. I brought in some old jewelry that my wife no longer wore, because the pieces looked like plumbing devices. Murreys helped me design a necklace and earings using the stones from the pieces that I brought in. The new pieces came out beautiful. It took a while, but it was well worth it. more

Thieves 3/26/2010

Stay away!!! Do not go here. The owner, Earl, is not to be trusted. He lies, does not return phone calls, and has tried to 'forget' to pay me for consignment items I own that he sold. He makes up stories about why he can't do something or didn't have time to make a deadline he agreed to: he has a virus, his staff has a virus, he's out to lunch (at 4:30 in the afternoon), he can't find it, he has to check with his lawyer. I am taking him to Small Claims Court and reporting him to the BBB, but be forewarned. He is truly evil. more

Excellent family jewelry store 12/2/2009

I've had Murrey's repair my jewelry now for over 10 years and every repair was perfectly done. They also designed a ring for me which never fails to get me compliments when I wear it. I've purchased several pieces of jewelry over the years and been happy with all of them. You can trust the quality of the jewelry they sell and the repairs they make. more

DON'T USE - THEY CAN'T BE TRUSTED!!!! 10/29/2008

Wow - I wish I would have found all of these bad reviews before I went to Murrey's with a family heirloom that needed a repair. Unfortunately they lied to me multiple times - twice about when it would be ready, once about why there was a delay, once about their closing hours. They were dishonest, rude and unapologetic when I called them on it. If they're dishonest about these things who knows what else they're doing - swapping stones? replacing gold? They're not to be trusted. more

Not so freindly 3/15/2008

I went there to ask them to set my diamond to my setting. They mentioned the setting was too big for my diamond though we prepared our staff based on our research. Actually, we purchased our diamond and setting thru web site. They said " Web site?" and we left that place disappointedly. We went to another place and they said there was no safety issue and set our stone perfectly within an hour. Of course, we have not had any problem so far. I have to say they were not interested in customers who already prepared materials. Most web sites sound like they are very professional and I am not against it at all, but only thing I can say is they were not telling true story to me. more

AVOID MURREY'S 2/23/2008

I took a three strand beaded necklace to Murrey's to have restrung after one strand broke. Granted, it was costume jewelry (Carol Lee) but I loved it. The necklace was about an inch and a half too small to even fasten on my neck after they repaired it. They had the audacity to ask if my neck is bigger now (I weigh 112 lbs) then when I bought it. Both the man and woman there, whom I assume to be the owners, were incredibly rude and dismissive. They offered to add beads for $100 if I'd like. I will never step foot in that store again to deal with these unscrupulous people. I advise everyone to go elsewhere. more

I took a Rolex and a Piaget watch to Murrey's Jewelers for repair. After 8 months of constant delay the Rolex was repaired. The Piaget was never repaired and after a further 13 months [a total of almost 2 years] of delay and avoiding my calls the watch was returned to me only after my attorney wrote a letter threatening suit. Needless to say the watch was still unrepaired. I recently sued Murrey's in Small Claims Court for the repair charges paid in advance. I won. I have turned the Notice of Judgment over to the City Marshal for collection. Avoid doing business with this company. more

Interesting Jeweler 8/16/2005

Murrey's has been a staple on the upper east side for decades. It's a very old world place with lots of interesting old pieces to pick up. I have generally gone here to have items repaired and they've always done a great job at a reasonable price. I never feel that I'm getting take for a ride. Give them a try. more
