Great Mystery Book store 12/16/2005

If you're looking for hard to find or out of print mystery novels as I am in NYC, you may want to try this bookstore -- Murder Ink. They have quite a good selection. Plenty of rare finds and early edition novels. In terms of their quality of goods, I rate them highly. And in terms of their service, it was exceptionally good --- I have given them calls to see what was in stock and they have been helpful to locate my items and reserve them for me. Really friendly help. more

Huge selection, fun atmosphere 11/8/2005

I stopped into this bookstore while waiting for a table at a nearby restaurant and almost didn't make it to dinner because it was so fun to browse in the shop at all the thrillers. The shop itself connects with another bookstore full of all kinds of books (not just mystery) so there is really something for everyone. The staff doesn't bother you, just lets you read or browse or do whatever. Very fun. more

classy bookstore with a lot of indie prints 8/19/2005

The bookstore is very laid out and has many independent writers/publishers. They often have many bargain books laid out in the front, and interesting genre of books in the rear of the store. The staff there is very helpful and friendly and can usually trace your book down in a matter of minutes. They can also special order your book from the computer and have it shipped to your apartment or to the bookstore for pickup if you need. I'd check them out. The always have something neat out in front that will catch your eye. more

Detective Books 7/7/2005

These guys have been around for 20+ years supplying New Yorkers with a vast array of detective books. It's all here from the classics ( Nero Wolfe, Perry Mason, etc) to the newest books in the genre. You can find small press books here that you would have to special order at a place like Barnes and Noble. All specialty stores should be like this one. more
