Loews Cineplex E-Walk

Aggh. I couldn't wait for this excuse of a film to come out on DVD so I could do a regular review. So I put it in the review of the theater I saw it in. Great theater, comfortable seats, decent popcorn. Too bad that was the highlight of my evening. In a word, this film was awful. Helmed by Michael Mann (who wrote the TV Miami Vice!!!!) and led by uber hotties Collin Farrell and Jamie Foxx I was really hoping for decent entertainment. What I got was 2 hours of terrible dialogue, truly meaningless scenes and no interesting character interaction. If you like action movies about under cover cops, see Bad Boys. I'm a movie fan and hardly ever give bad reviews to other people's work, but man, I didn't like this one! (Gee, can you tell ?? :) more

...you will find it across the street at Loews. Even though they are now the same company, movies that are screening at one movie house on 42nd Street will not be available at the other. In a lot of ways, the E-Walk is just another 42nd Street spot. Neon lights, large paintings on the walls, a bit overpriced. Nothing special. The clientèle can be a bit rude (just like across the street), but the seats are comfortable and concessions are open. Just plan on dropping a 20-spot or more on a date night at the movies. more

Loews Cineplex E-Walk is a very large theater in the middle of everything. It has escalators that take you everywhere you need to go and you can stop at Chevy's for a giant marguerita the size of your head in case you get thirsty. They have a very large selection of movies and showtimes, and the few times I've been there have always been enjoyable experiences. more

Lowes is usually synonymous with a quality movie going experience. However, the 42nd street theater is clearly the black sheep of the family. I have been here about half a dozen times (sometimes it plays films that are hard to find elsewhere, which is one of the few bright spots). I have never had a good customer service experience. The staff is aloof, unhelpful, and occasionally downright confrontational. Another plus is that the seats are large and reasonably confortable, that is, if you can get to them. Last time I was here, the escalators were broken, and we had to hike up four stories to get to our film. The popcorn is stale and even more overpriced than usual. The final nail in the coffin? The AMC Empire directly across the street is, for my money, the best movie theater in the city. Avoid, unless it has something that you must see. more
