Dr. Steven Shoshany Chiropractor

I began seeing Dr. Shoshany in July 2008 because of a herniated disc between L5 and S1 that left me unable to do any of the physical activity that I loved let alone normal activity (like sleeping). I tried physical therapy, accupucture, shots...you name it. Then I read about spinal decompression and decided to give it a try. I did the treatment every day for one month, plus physical therapy. Dr. Shoshany also gave me some vitamins and Omega 3 oils to help the healing along. I did not feel better immediately after the treatment which I think is important to mention. Do not get discouraged! You have to give your body time to heal. Within a few months I was pain free and have been ever since! Now I just maintain my back with the occassional adjustment and/or massage and of course core exercise. Dr. Shoshany and his staff did whatever it took to make sure I felt better. I have been seeing Dr. S for a few years since he used to be on Downing Street. I love his new office space with all of the new state of the art equipment. I tried going to a chiropractor in my neighborhood but they did not have the equipment that Dr. S has. Needless to say I return to see him shortly. I love the flexibility that you have. I usually just call up and ask if I can come in and they take me. I have referred him to my co-workers as well. His staff is pleasant and helpful as well. I was on the brink of spinal surgery to fuse two disks in my neck C 4/5, 5/6. I had been in pain for nearly two years taking anti-inflammatories, muscle relaxers and opiate pain relievers. After meeting with a surgeon, who was ready to schedule my fusion, I decided to do do a search and found Dr. Shoshany. his website and the patient reviews for spinal decompression encouraged me to give it a try. I am so glad I did. After the full round of decompression treatments, I can honestly say that surgery is no longer in my future. After taking a tumble and, landing flat on my back, the ensuing pain let me know I was in big trouble. After going through a series of X rays, MRI's, and even a Discogram (very uncomfortable), I was told by one of the best neurosurgeons in Manhattan, that I was definitely going to need expensive, invasive, bone grafting spinal surgery - There was going to be no way around it. Then I found out about Dr. Shoshany, went to his very informative website, and decided to take a chance. I set up an appointment with him through his friendly staff and, little did I know it, I was already on my way to getting my life back! . When I walked in, I could hardly bend over, or lift my feet off the ground. I was expertly evaluated and my treatment started- on my very first visit! The office is beautiful, filled with state of the art equipment, that he and his staff of experts know how to use. Each session was made fun by his ""family"" of truly caring professionals. I had a bad case of tennis elbow before my visit to Dr. Shoshany's office. He used a technic called GRASTON to relieve the horrible discomfort in my elbow and shoulder. My recovery was so fast. I was almost back to 100% by the next day. I read many articles about tennis elbow and none suggested going to see a Chiropractor, until my good friend suggested it. I've gotten tension headaches on a regular basis for as long as I can remember and recently they became so troublesome, I decided to try Dr. Shoshany's office. Even though he came highly recommended by a colleague, I was bit skeptical because I'd seen a chiropractor for the same symptoms a few years ago and it didn't seem to help much at all. I've now been seeing Dr. Shoshany for chiropractic exams and Monica for physical therapy once weekly for a few months. They're both wonderful and very much invested in my health. My headaches have become fewer and further between and I'm much more comfortable than I had been. I still get headaches (especially when I'm under a lot of stress), but another great thing about their office is that they seem to be able to fit me in for an appointment anytime I call. The entire staff is warm and friendly, and Dr. Shoshany and Monica are the best. I can't say enough about how happy I am that I found them. I was a mess when I walked into Dr. Shoshany's practice; extreme neck pain, locked upper back, and nightly headaches that made me take lots of obuprofen to get to sleep. It took time, but Dr. Shoshany patiently cared for my problems and now a year later my headaches are gone and I have relief from constant pain. I'm 38. At 14 I was diagnosed with structural kyphosis (a hunched upper back). Bracing, I was told, was the only non-surgical form of treatment for ""structural"" - as opposed to ""postural"" - kyphosis. I have seen a lot of chiropractors and Dr. Shoshany is the one who knows how to adjust my finicky low back. He develops a technique of adjusting that is suitable to each of his patient's needs. Everyone in his office is quite knowledgeable in treating the whole body. It's not just about your back. He works with holistic practitioners and even a physical therapist who I think is psychic when it comes to injuries. His assistant knows more about gym equipment and proper alignment than trainers at my gym. His receptionists are always friendly and giving me apples. After months of suffering with sciatic symptoms that were not relieved by acupuncture or prescription pain killers, I was skeptical that anything would help. I want in for back pain and a bump on my neck that I thought was hereditary and was something I struggled with all my life. I could barely walk, sit or stand when I found my way into Dr. Shoshany's office. I had seen 2 other chiropractors with no success and had heard about the decompression treatment with Dr. Shoshany. He sent me for an MRI and my results showed a bulging disk and a herniated disk. Dr. Shoshany started me on decompression treatments 2-3 times a week and I have seen marked improvement! My pain level when I first sought treatment was easily a 9.5 on a scale of 1-10 and I am now nearly pain free. Unfortunately, we need to go against the grain on this one. Dr. Shoshany is not the miracle worker people would like you to believe. He's just a guy with an expensive machine. He treated my husband for spinal decompression over a year ago (with that machine). Result: the pain is still here, maybe worse? And, he never made any other suggestions to alter his treatment. He only suggested more of the same EXPENSIVE treatment. I really would like to say it was a success. But...we can't. I would try a different chiropractor if I were you. About a year ago I suffered a lower back injury because I was lifting too much weight and stressing my lower back too much. I had an MRI taken and the results indicated that I had a bulging disc which was pinching my sciatic nerve. I am not sure if you have ever experienced this but I the pain i felt made me think that I was going to be crippled for the rest of my life. Whenever i coughed or sneezed I felt like my spinal column was breaking in pieces, and I couldnt seat for more than 10-15 minutes without getting back spasms or a shooting pain down my right leg. I have been seeing Dr. Shoshany for approximately a year. As a Broadway performer, I am used to the aches and pains of dancing on a slanted stage, singing when exhausted and pure stress!!! I have religiously seen chiropractors for the past 5 years - and out of the 6 different doctors I've been too in that time, Dr. Shoshany and his office have provided me the MOST OUTSTANDING care imaginable.
