Best

This place is just gorgeous! Haven't had that much fun in a last couple of years... Don't know what else to say other people reviews say it all. A+

Worst

I come to Comix each time I fly in to NYC. There are a ton of comedy clubs in this country, but there are none that are nearly as nice as Comix USED TO BE! The food was so good on...

Great Time Finally in the Meat Packing District 5/2/2007

Surprisingly great time!! We went to Comix Saturday Night, had a blast, yes it was a little pricey..Drinks were too expensive, but the show was hilarious and the food was very good. Had the Fried chicken, and I being from the South, must say it was great home cooking, away from home. Mac and Cheese, with collared greens and a biscuit made for a very cool dinner, but my friend had the scallops with wild mushrooms and it was more upscale and she loved it as well. Cool beers on tap, and great food, plus laughing my butt off.. Its a great way t0 spend a Sat night. The Neighborhood is hopping so, afterwards it was easy to go find other things to do... Pros: Funny Shows, Good Food Cons: Pricey Drinks more

Very good Happy Hour 4/11/2007

I've been to Comix to see a show and had a great time. Nice venue, great comedians. I also work in the neighborhood and stopped in for a drink after work. Much to my delight, they had great happy hour prices. All draft beers were HALF PRICE....and good beers too. I grabbed a seat at the bar and had a couple. Definitely be back Pros: Comedians, Venue, Happy Hour more

Okay comedy club, food sucked! 4/8/2007

My boyfriend and I went to see Maria Bamford and although we enjoyed watching MB perform, we were disappointed with the food! If you should decide to go to Comix, eat before or after but don't eat during the performance. We ordered the fish and chips. The only time we had anything as mediocre was at Pizzeria Uno (dont' order their F-n-C, too). They only served two pieces. The fried breaded exterior was soggy. The fish inside was tasteless and almost warm. The shoestring fries that it comes with were not of shoestring consistency. They were slightly thinner the McD's fries and straight, not shoestringy. \r \r Comix is located near many restaurants so definitely eat before or after you laugh! Pros: okay club Cons: fish and chips sucked! more

Great Comedy Club 3/28/2007

I had a great time at Comix. The comedians were really funny and the location near the Meatpacking District was really cool. I've been to a few of the other comedy clubs in the city and Comix ranks up there with the funnest times I've had. Pros: comedians, ambiance, location more

YUKKKKKKKKKKKKKK 3/25/2007

I love comedy but hated my experience at Comix. The comix were not funny and the prices were excessive. I would suggest trying some of the other clubs in the city because they have much better comix and fairer prices. more

Sophisticated atmosphere 3/21/2007

My boyfriend and I went there last night for the Wednesday night comedy experience with Wendy Williams. The comedians and the drinks were top notch. The place has a modern decor from the lightening to the silverware. I was a bit disappointed with the food. I had the crab cakes with the macaroni and cheese which was not to desirable, however my boyfriend had the fried chicken and onion rings which was actually not to bad, but not the greatess. After the show, they had a mingle and greet session which consisted of drinking and chatting. We left with a feeling of a satisfying evening. Pros: Drinks and Service more

Top of the line club 2/25/2007

So I am a huge fan of Richard Lewis on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and I couldn't wait to see him live when I found out he was performing at this new club. While it was a fun experince seeing him on stage his stand up humor is...a little odd to say the least. I was however impressed by the club. The place was packed with a very nice crowd, the embience was elegant and dare I say upscale...the food was OK, but I don't go to comedy clubs expecting 5 star cusine. I really enjoyed the layout of the showroom, it seems like there is not a bad seat in the house. As for Richard Lewis, I'd rather stick to watching him on TV. Pros: Layout of the showroom, embience of the club, fun crowd Cons: Richard Lewis...not so funny live more

I feel tricked 2/23/2007

The show I saw was actually quite excellent, but the evening was far more expensive than I expected. When I booked the tickets on-line, I thought I was getting a great deal. They only cost $10! Sure, there was a two drink minimum, but I didn't think the bar would be that pricey, because judgind from their corny, half-assed Web site, I thought it was some crappy little club. Once an appetizer and drinks were factored in, my boyfriend and I dropped $120 bucks on the evening. I know that concert and theater tickets are going for increasingly outrageous prices, and $120 might not seem like a huge bill for two people, but there are plenty of other venues in town--like the Slipper Room and UCB--where it only costs $5 to $10 to get in the door, and the drinks are more reasonable. Pros: Top tier talent Cons: Booze and food are unimpressive and overpriced more

Great Club - Annoying Neighborhood 2/12/2007

I am not a fan of anything trendy and pretentious, therefore I trendy to stay away from the Meatpacking District. I am however a huge fan of stand up comedy, and that is what convinced me to venture into enemy territory to check out this new venue. My journey into chic-land provided well worth it. The show was great ,(John Oliver, whom I have never seen live before) the club - although pretty fancy was not stuffy nor pretentious, I found the staff welcoming and warm (not like the wait staff at some of this other places in the neighborhood, that seem as if they are doing YOU a favor by approaching you). The food was surprisingly very edible if not very cheap. This club is worth a second visit to the most annoying neighborhood in town. Pros: Comedy, well planned out showroom, great (friendly!) staff Cons: Having to venture out to the pretentious meatpaking district more

The least funny shows in the city! Hands down. 2/10/2007

I go to all the clubs in the city on a regular basis and Comix has the least funny shows/comedians as a whole, out there. I went a month ago and hated it but wanted to allow for an off night and just went to see John Oliver. Both times, it was a waste of A LOT of money and was NOT funny at all. The drink prices were so high; we were floored. I mean strip club high! Also, the staff was curt, bordering on rude - like they hated the place themselves. I wonder why they started such a fancy club but then don't seem to know how to run it???\r \r Pros: Can't think of any Cons: shows, prices, service more

A Great Time! 2/7/2007

Went to see Janeane Garofalo with some friends who've been to this place before. The show was hysterical, I was never a big fan of hers but she was pretty good! The club itself is nice, doesn't look like a regular hole in the wall comedy club I'm used to - it's got a fancy nightclubish feel to it. Fits in the trendy neighborhood. I only had dessert (fried donuts!) but my friends seemed to like the food. Overall, cool place, I'll be back. Pros: cool comedians, trendy atmosphere, fried donuts! Cons: not cheap more

Who's writing these good reviews??? 1/14/2007

Certainly not the TINY audience as they fell asleep for most of the show. Many of the comedians seemed like they didn't care if we laughed or not. One guy, Michael S. (can't remember his last name) told two jokes that are internet jokes that are floating around and one was an old Carlin joke! (my friend told us the punchline word-for-word before he did!)\r \r I should have suspected the place wasn't good when I bought the tickets for $5 from one of those guys that sells comedy tickets on the streets in Times Square. Pros: nice looking place Cons: quality of comedians ! size of audience more

The Best Comedy Club in NYC!!! 1/7/2007

I was at the COMIX this past weekend with my girlfriend and we had a really good time. They had super-funny comics and the service was great! Pros: Comedians, Nice Food more

COMIX 1/7/2007

This is a great place with great staff. The comedians are very funny. I would recommend this place to anyone. Pros: Great comics, atmosphere, drinks, food Cons: not long enough more

Rockin New Years Spot 1/3/2007

My fiance took me here for new years and it was a great time! We arrived early to have the prepaid menu and the food was sooo good. It took a little time between courses but when I tasted my duck it was well worth the wait. My date had the tuna which was also delicious and dessert (apple crisp) was better than my grandma's. The show started at 10 and all the comics were top rate (i liked christian finegan the best). Then at New Years the screen came down on stage and we watched the ball drop and had a champagne toast. It was a great experience. We hugn otu at the bar for a little bit afterwards. It was the perfect way to start the new year (if only getting a cab home hadn't taken so logn). \r \r We'll be back. Pros: great food & entertainment, beautiful room more

Great comedy? Of course. Great food and beautiful surroundings, that was the surprise. 11/24/2006

Saw a great show, had a really good meal. No pub food here! Attractive and attentive wait staff. What a pretty place! Much more than a comedy club. I'm going to do my corporate holiday party here. What a gem! Pros: Side splitting comedy, fabulous food and sophisticated surroundings. Cons: That it took so long to combine comedy, fine food and beautiful atmosphere. more

hilarious headliners and pretty club, but pricey 11/19/2006

I tend not to be a fan of the Meatpacking District bc it's too full of itself and too chichi for my laidback tastes. But I got free tickets to see Josh Blue awhile ago, so who was I to complain? The 3 openers + the host were pretty amazing and Josh was great too. I was really psyched about the place - it's a BEAUTIFUL club very tastefully designed. I also liked that there was no food minimum since i'd already arrived on a full stomach etc, no pressure to order whatsoever, which was great. I managed to see Kathleen Madigan and Cheech (the other half of Chong) also complimentary, and again - same vibe. The latter two didn't live up to the caliber of performances I saw the first time, but overall I had a very similar experience from the club. Their waitstaff was pretty on their toes and it seemed like people were having a good time. The food wasn't ridiculously expensive, but it wasn't a bargain either. Foe ex, desserts were over $10 I think. The club does draw big comedy stars and i like the table seating arrangement better than theater seating, but it is a hefty price per ticket for a budget conscious person like me. So if you don't mind the chomp on your wallet, def go and check it out. Pros: beautiful club, great headliners Cons: price more

Entertainment with style 11/14/2006

Comix is a great place for people who like comedy but hate the traditional comedy club vibe. The place is a lot more upscale looking and they have a great food menu (no chicken fingers or mozzarella sticks in sight). Ticket prices seem to be on par with other rooms in town that have good comedians. Sure it's going to cost you, but it's better to see some live entertainment with food and drinks than another lame movie. Pros: no drink minimum! great food menu more

Best Comedy Club Around!! 10/26/2006

This place is awesome. So much better than all the other comedy club's around. Very classy without being pretentious. the staff was friendly and the food was great. I saw danny bonoduce there this week and he was hysterical. can't wait to go back. Pros: great comics (bonaduce!), excellent service, tasty food more

So funny & great food. 10/22/2006

i had a great time friday night at comix. all three comics were hysterical and they were great at involving the audience. the food and drinks were great too. i had the turkey sandwich which had a cranberry relish which was teh perfect compliment. the drinks are a bit pricy but I guess that's what you should expect in the meatpacking district. Pros: greet food, top talent more
