I have been here twice. The first time, I thought it was the best burger I have ever tasted in my life. The second time, it was not as incredible as I had remembered, but it was still pretty good. For the size and taste of the burger, it is worth the $6 they charge.

A classy chain for sure. The food is high quality. The service polished. The only problem is the wait. You often have to hang out for a table, but you can head upstairs to the bookstore to pass the time.
You are missing out if you don't order the spinach dip to start!!

For the best burger in New York City (TimeOut
New York said so in 2004) you must visit Rare.
They serve beef burgers, turkey burgers, lamb
burgers, tuna burgers and more. As a side order
the french fry sampler. And do try my favorite dessert
.... actually they're all my favorites ... but first amongst them all try the chocolate bread pudding
(order one for two ... if not three people).
Now that the summer months are here, also
visit The Rare View. Rare's rooftop bar with
fantastic views of the city.

If you're down for a little something different from all of the other restaurants in the SoHO area, point your attention towards the ACME Bar and Grill. I went there on a Friday night, had no problem getting a table and felt immersed in the overall vibe of the venue. The waiters can be a bit slow for a bar/restaurant that isn't that large, but the food is well worth it. From the Po' Boy sandwiches to the gumbo and jambalaya, you won't be disappointed. The back of the restaurant serves as a bar area and there is a wide selection of beers at your disposal. One thing you'll notice while you eat is that the "ledge" bordering the walls of the restaurant are adorned with tons of different hot sauses and spices from all over the world. The vibe is pretty decent, though if you are picky about having a quiet dinner alone with someone, beware of the people in other tables sitting about a foot away from you as they tables are grouped so tightly together. This is definitely a place I recommend if you're hanging out with a group of friends. And be sure to check this place out during the weekend from 10-4, as there is a brunch special, including open bar.

I like a lot of bars in this area (50s on the East Side), so we sometimes stop by this place while we are in the area, usually during the happy hour time frame. Drinks are pretty cheap, but it gets pretty crowded. The main downfall to this place is that the music is so so loud. We end up shouting at each other just to make conversation, and then eventually not really talking because of the noise. Because of this we usually end up leaving after only one drink, and hopping to another bar.

If you're just looking for a place to hang out and you're not asking for too much, I'd suggest stopping by here. The food is just ok, not too much to say than that. I usually just get beer from tap and get the french fries. The service is on par. Somedays it's good, sometimes it's very poor when there are a lot of people. Overall, if you're looking for something to do and you live down here near wall street, I'd definitely recommend it. I'd definitely try the Irish Coffee after your meal. It fits the bill quite nicely.

dark wood interior, high ceiling and iron-work chandeliers create an old-world atmosphere. The spacious booths, long polished bar, and leather-upholstered back lounge would comfort any tired souls. It gets crowded late in the week and on weekend evenings.
Great collection of draft (66) & bottle beers (largely Belgian beers), & whiskey. Pub food - sandwiches, salads, cheese

Sutton Place is a bar. Could be a solid sports bar, but the TVs stink. The best feature of the place is its outside roof deck bar that overlooks 2nd ave. Thursday nights are the most active nights there with a solid after work NYC crowd. However, on a fri and sat night watch out for the B&T ers.

I've both eaten in and taken out from Our Place. Great proximity to my apartment, but boy, it's one of the most expensive Chinese places in the area, and it just ain't worth the money.
Food is VERY oily, it's so oily it basically drowns out all the taste. For takeout, you'll be glad to have plenty of leftovers, but you might never want to eat them.
You can do better.
