Something different 8/17/2005

This place provides foods not often seen in most Indian restaurants. I found their food pretty good, but a little bland. They mix in dosa with tandoori food, and even some salads. Best South Indian food in NYC 8/15/2005

Located in Curry Hill, this totally vegetarian restaurant features primarily South Indian cuisine, but they do also serve very good North Indian cuisine such as naans and vegetable dishes. Their sambar is by far the best in all of NYC, and their dosas, idlis, medu vadas, uttapams are all wonderful and tasty. They offer a very reasonably priced buffet lunch that features a good mix of North Indian food with South Indian items. The food is not too spicy and the customers include Indians and many non-Indians. The owner and staff are very friendly and welcoming. more

Tasty South Indian at even Tastier Prices 2/16/2005

Had the $5.95 lunch buffet today at Chennai Gardens. And while the food wasn't the best South Indian I have ever tasted (perhaps because it is impossible for a buffet to match that), it was quite good. And at that price, it's difficult to imagine getting more bang for your buck in NYC. Also it's worth noting that the restaurant was completely packed (including many Indian families) and that the (pastel) decor and feel is both hipper and more pleasant that your typical Indian restaurant. more
