Katz's has got to be the very best delicatessen in the world. The pastrami is absolutely phenomenal. I've never had better. The hot dogs are absolutely amazing, as is the kielbasa, knishes and sour pickles. The food is top notch ... out of this world. The staff knows their stuff and the owners are professional and on the ball. Katz's is old New York at it's authentic and contemporary best. There's simply none better.
Pros: Pastrami, Hot Dogs, Kielbasa, Knishes ... you name it
Cons: None to speak of

I have been eating here regularly for the last few months and the food has been consistently excellent. The uthappam are particularly good. This is one of only a couple of restaurants in the area that denotes which items have dairy and which don't (and also spicy vs. non-spicy), which is very convenient for vegans.
Pros: delicious, freshly-prepared; indicates dairy-free for vegans
Cons: occasionally service can be a little slow, but overall fine

This is the kind of neighbordhood place you can eat at every night. Simple, tasty French menu has perennial appeal. Solid, affordable wine list. This is the place I go when I'm tired of the pomp and circumstance that sometimes mars the eating out experience.
Pros: Tasty food, Top notch service, Late hours
Cons: Shaky bartending, Dim lighting

It was my brothers birthday. There were about 20 of us. We all had a blast. The people, the music, the energy... superb. I haven't had this much fun in a long time. If you're looking for a place where you can be yourself then this is the place for you. Great food, great service, great everything.

Went there with a vegetarian friend that was in town and had been complaining there was no decent vegetarian food in the city. Boy, were we impressed. The variety of food was fantastic and we were spoiled for choice. Even as a non- vegetarian, I had difficulty choosing from the vast menu, everything sounded so good. Eventually settled on the 3 tapas plates for $15. Where else in NYC can you get so much for so little!!!
Will definitely be going back and bringing a bunch of friends.
Nearly forgot to mention the fantastic wait staff too!!!
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing

I just love eating there. The food is always good, service impeccable and it's open super late. I came there last summer at 11:15 pm and they still seated us and were very nice, not trying to push us out of the restaurant like most other places open late do.
I would recommend La Surprise, le Steak au Poivre or la Cote de Boeuf.
I never tried any fish there, but I guess it would be a heresy to try one at such a great meat place. The French fries are perfect, crusty and light, and the bread they serve is the closest I found in kosher restaurants to a Parisian baguette. They have an extensive wine list and the desserts are very fine, without being fantastic.
A much better deal than Solo.
Pros: Steaks, Wine list, Lots of seating place
Cons: Can be noisy

One of the owners, Greg, is terrific and knows how to put together a great iPod full of blues, soul and old school music. Kristen, the bartender was wonderful and had great recommendations. We enjoyed the Mo's Pickin's platter -- try the deviled eggs with crab! The brisket was great too. The Cuban Reuban sandwich rocks and so do the chicharrones with a wonderful avocado sauce. Oh, and the house magarita on th emenu is delish and the mango syrup isn't too sweet in it either! Go to Mo's! I'm going back!

I just ate at Azuri Cafe last night, and it's still as good as the other reviewers said. It was a cold, damp evening. I had waited on line for The Daily Show for over an hour, then was cut. I was chilled to the bone, but not very hungry, as I had had a late lunch. Then I happened upon Azuri Cafe. I had read reviews on several websites and had wondered if they were true. First of all, I found the owner to be quite charming. He's been in business for 16 years and still cares about each and every customer's satisfaction. I just had a bowl of lentil soup, but it was memorable. I've never had any that was nearly so good. Everything looked so good, I wanted to try it all. And eventually, I will. An all-around great NYC experience. I plan to go back again. And again. And again.... And you should, too.
Pros: Fresh, delicious, home cooking; personal service; customer loyalty; 16 years in business; one of a kind
Cons: a shlep from Boston

Apparently Moishe doesn't make croissants very often, but when we went in there a few years ago he had some in the window. We were expecting a buttery regular croissant, but it wasn't like that at all. It was warm, and it looked like a croissant, but it tasted like a danish. It was the best thing I have ever eaten in my freaking life.
We visit the city a few times a year and always come to Moishe's, but never again did he have them. We did ask about it and he told us that the next time we come, to please call the day before and he might be able to whip up a batch.
I love that this is a hole in the wall and as far as NYC bakeries go, this is the best kind. Nothing flashy, just a hole in the wall and I think it makes everything taste better! Like buying baked goods from someone's kitchen rather than a store.
My sister had some trouble ordering mondel brot; the ladies up front got it wrong twice and they were kind of perturbed since they cut it for her and then couldn't use it (apparently). I think they were giving her marble for chocolate or vice versa; it was REALLY confusing. But like with so many places that are melting pots, I totally give them a pass even though my sister was about to flip her lid.
Anyhow, if you ever see croissants BUY ONE.
I'd be clinically obese if I lived in NYC.
Pros: EVERYTHING!
Cons: Sometimes the staff doesn't understand what you want.

Mr. Broadway a one of a kind restaurant located in the garment district in downtown Manhattan. It is a Kosher restaurant that pretty much covers a wide gamut of food cravings from their deli sandwiches, to cheeseburgers and fries, to Chinese, Mediterranean dishes and Sushi, yes they even have a sushi bar!
The food and service is great. I've been there a couple of times during my travels to New York and Mr. Broadway always leaves me satisfied! Try the sushi and Chicken Chow Mein, it's delicious!
