Love this place! As soon as you walk in the door you are immediately relaxed, despite being in the middle of the city. It's like a little sanctuary. They have a bathroom, changing room (no lockers), kitchen where you can make tea and enjoy fresh basked treats from time to time, library and comfy chairs (with massagers!). The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They also provide mats (for free!), so you don't have to carry yours around on the subway, etc. I recommend taking Anya yoga or mods or springing the extra $ for a private Pilates appt on the reformer. You def leave feeling refreshed! more

Fantastic Studio. There is something for everyone. Studio Anya has there own unique take on pilates and yoga. The Mods class, very similar to pilates, was a super workout. Anya, their yoga class, was tough, but not impossibly hard. Both sort of snuck up on me. They seemed relaxing at first, and then all of a sudden I was working really hard! While still maintaining a sense of ease and calm! more

Studio Anya is a wonderful place! When I first walked into the studio I immediately felt relaxed because of the soothing atmosphere. The studio is just the right size which makes you feel at home. It's a great place to come if you ever want to get a workout and escape the city scene. The classes are nice and challenging while also requesting that you kept a serene state of mind. The people here are great and just add to the wonderful experience! Great place, definitely check it out! more

This place is amazing! I really love the relaxing, welcoming atmosphere and all of the classes (group or the pilates circuits) are great. I always feel centered for my day after taking class. All the teachers are friendly and you'll definitely want to come back once you've been here. more

Studio Anya is more than a beautiful space with wonderful teachers and excellent energy - it's a philosophy of movement. Many studios in NYC offer classes that will make you sweat and create flexibility and/or strength; Studio Anya's classes teach me how to use my body. Of course, you'll notice afterward that your muscles may be sore, but more importantly, the ideas and games from class will echo in your head for weeks to come. more

If you need a calm and stress free retreat in the middle of the hustle and bustle, you will find it at Studio Anya! This was the first thing I loved about this studio. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The classes are really integrative with whole your body. After my first class, my whole body and mind felt refreshed and energized. I could walk into the craziness outside and have inner calming relaxation. The group classes are also small, so you should always get personal attention. And when you?re not in class, you can relax on the comfy couches and chairs and read fascinating books from their AUM library, based on their AUM curriculum. There is a variety of yoga, pilates and dance influences in all of their classes, and I appreciate the mix. more

Studio Anya is not just a pilates and yoga studio, it is a place where mind, body, and spirit are all nurtured. Upon first encountering the studio, I immediately felt at home. The environment is peaceful and welcoming, and everyone who works there is even more so. Whenever I walk into the studio, I feel a sense of calm and purpose. Every class I have taken has worked both my body and my mind and pushed me to integrate what I've learned in my everyday life. I find that I am better coordinated and have a stronger sense of body rhythm. I always walk away from class feeling energized, refreshed, and stronger, even though I'm tired from the workout. more

I've visited many studios in the 10 years of my yoga practice and Studio Anya is the most welcoming and friendly. I get to break a sweat or feed my soul in class and then feed my belly with yummy tea and treats in the kitchen, courtesy of the studio. Yoga thursday morning at 9 am and their signature Anya yoga class are my 2 favorite. The Anya class is uniquely dynamic and Yogi Amit on Thursday morning makes us laugh uncontrollably towards the end of class sometimes till my eyes tear. I highly recommend the semi-private pilates class its a way smaller class and you can still feed off the energy of your classmates and work on your techniques more efficiently. more

Great Space - Great Workout! Scheduling is a bit confusing 8/3/2011

Had a Groupon Deal for this place. The space is just wonderful. Intro class was wonderful. The instructor had time to visit each student and let them know exactly how to improve their form. The next day I felt a wonderful sore - I wanted to schedule a visit with them right away! Unfortunately, their online schedule is a bit confusing - and not sure if I had to pay online, since I already paid the Groupon Deal. WANT TO GO BACK ASAP, THOUGH - I felt that great. more

Best Yoga and Pilates Studio in New York! 10/18/2010

I went to this studio because a friend had mentioned it and I fell in love immediately. Studio Anya is a beautiful space with a library, nice chairs and a kitchen with snacks and tea. The classes are so awesome, better than any yoga classes I have taken before. The style of teaching is challenging and yet welcoming to all levels. The classes and atmosphere have improved my physical and mental health so much. I am so happy I found this place and I think everyone should take a class, you'll love it. They have group classes and the reformer, pilates chair and wall, and so many awesome classes, like HEAL where you take a whole hour and 15 minutes to rejuvenate your body. It is simply divine. more

Hidden gem of a yoga/Pilates studio in Chelsea 3/31/2010

I LOVE Studio Anya. The pictures speak for themselves in terms of what a cool space it is. Luckily, the classes are just as cool too. The owner, Courtney, has developed her own curriculum with her own twist on yoga and Pilates/movement work. In just a few weeks of going to classes there, I feel I've significantly improved my strength, flexibility, and general wellness, in ways that I was never able to achieve over about five years of practicing yoga at gyms and other studios around the city. I definitely recommend you check it out--the more, the merrier!! more

serenity in the city 3/12/2010

If there is any karma out there recently opened Anya should quickly become one of the city's most successful studios. The owner's passion for yoga and pilates comes through in even the smallest of details. It occupies a beautiful space where one feels free to linger browsing the extensive library or chatting with the friendly and supportive staff. It's obvious that Anya is a well thought out endeavor by those who are truly enthusiastic about helping their students to further their practice and achieve their goals. I was fortunate enough to discover Anya by following an incredible teacher, Margie Suvalle, from another studio. Margie's class coupled with the wonderful space and thoughtful approach taken by the studio makes for a terrific yoga experience. Her class guides a range of students, from beginners to those who have practiced for years, through a fun and stimulating workout. Her patience and consideration towards each student is always appreciated. Her 11:30 class on Friday mornings is not to be missed! more

  • Not the average Yogi, owner Courtney Bauer seeks to rattle her customers' perception of fitness. For instance, she might teach Pilates on a sofa, although the studio is equipped with traditional apparatuses, too. In addition to an exercise area, there's a library outfitted with bamboo chairs and books that range from Kurt Vonnegut novels to a photographic exploration of New Orleans. There's also a work area with free Wi-Fi, a tiny meditation room and a kitchen stocked with snacks. While knowledgeable about customs in mind-body teaching, Bauer is also committed to pushing the boundaries of convention to make the exercise experience as pleasant as possible for her clients.
