Two different experiences 12/12/2008

I have visited the store a few times and it is really beautiful..On one occasion the owner was not present and the salesperson was wonderful. On a subsequent visit I definitely got the upper east side attitude from the owner.. more

Amazing! 6/15/2006

After reading the rave review from Zagat's 2006, I just had to visit this store. The space is small, but it holds a great selection of yarns, I've never seen so many varieties of cashmere in one place! I was also happy to find a big Koigu selection, since it's so hard to come by that yarn. The employees had lots of knowledge about the different yarns and one of them explained the difference between merinos to me. All in all the shop is wonderful, with attentive and knowledgeable staff and an amazing array of luxury and unusual yarns. I'll be back next time I'm in the area! more

Knits for the Rich and Rude 8/17/2005

This tiny store has a small but lovely selection of yarn. What it lacks is a welcoming attitude. Whether you come in dressed in casual gear or your Sunday Upper East Side Matron best, customers are treated cooly if not outright rudely. There is a sense that few of the staff are versed in the craft of knitting and that those that do are totally uninterested -- in you, the yarn, the store, selling anything, teaching anything, etc. If you go and buy a cartload of yarn they will grudgingly give you a "store pattern" -- many of which are extremely basic and lacking in creativity. If you are a beginnner or otherwise need some assistance with the pattern, though, you are on your own. No one will give you the time of day. And don't even think of trying to reserve a space in the weekly wine and stitch unless you know one of the "in crowd" -- you won't be welcome. Nor, having attended it, is it worth the effort. more

String 7/13/2005

Here you will be able to find roll upon roll of yarn in all colors of the rainbow and in many different textures as well. In addition to yarn, they also sell accessories so you can do it yourself. Knitting instructions are available. It is a great place for those who like to knit or sew. You can let your imagination run wild here! more
