I've been to many well-known spas in the city: Bliss, Juvenex, Exhale -- but none compares to the massage that I received by Marina at Spring Thyme. She did a good job of concent...

I completely agree with nynativegal's post from last April. I was there in January of this year and I had pretty much the exact same response from my masseuse. I was there once ...

Wonderfully Relaxing 4/19/2009

Received a wonderful massage, with just the right pressure from a therapist with healing hands. Just walking in was a treat because I was greeted warmly and all of my questions were answered.\r \r Thanks Spring Thyme! Pros: warm, inviting and soothing more

Great Place 3/29/2009

I decided to have my first official facial. I chose Spring Thyme because of the location, which is close to my job. I was to attend a wedding on Saturday and I had a few issues with my face (dry patches, acne, etc). I chose to have the anti-aging facial. My face positively glowed after all was said and done. The staff were really pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere had a calming effect. Zori, who did my facial was really great. I would definitely recommend this place. I am excited to go back and try all that it has to offer. Pros: Calm/relaxing atmosphere, great staff Cons: A little expensive if you're on a budget more

EXCELLENT MASSAGE 3/16/2009

I have had 3 massages at Spring Thyme with three different therapists and each one was amazing. These treatments are just as good if not better than fancy hotel massages and spa treatments......but are less than half of the cost of others. This is my favorite""find"". EVERYONE SHOULD TRY THEM! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Pros: friendly,no fuss and very clean Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

A refreshing experience! 3/9/2009

I went for the first time yesterday to the Spring Thyme spa on Nassau Street and was very happy with the service, atmosphere, and treatment. I passed the place many times and finally had the nerve to go in. I was not disappointed. I went for the Anti-Aging facial with Zori, who was very gentle and explained everything as she went along. She did her best to make me feel comfortable, and the head and neck message was awesome! I actually felt the knots relax. I would recommend the place- for the price (reasonable) and for the time spent (1 1/2 hours of relaxing). I also didn't have to wait long, which is important to me. My face feels smooth too and I appreciated the free samples. Pros: relaxing Cons: Room was small more

Timid to go in for your first bikini wax? Trust in ZORI! 2/8/2009

I had never had a bikini wax before, but wanted to try a Brazilian as a romantic surprise for my boyfriend, who'd been gone awhile. I was SOOO nervous. I am lucky I stumbled into Spring Thyme, because I wouldn't have even known what kind of wax to ask for or what to request in terms of how much hair I wanted to leave/remove. \r Zori was incredible. She explained everything that she was doing as she did it and even told me about the difference between the two waxes she used and why she used each on different parts of my body. She works hard to minimize pain by applying the right kind of wax to each spot, instead of just blanketing all of your skin in the same wax. She also offered advice about how much hair to leave based on the type of hair and skin that I have, which I'd never really considered. But I guess we're all different and the same final ""look"" doesn't work for all hair/skin types. \r I'd expected a ton of pain and swelling but had none - only a bit of redness for a couple hours. And Zori gave me some great suggestions for ways to properly moisturize and care for my skin between waxes so that there will be little to no discomfort when I come back for my next wax, which I will be scheduling with Zori soon! Trust this lady - she's great! more

Zori is the best! 11/13/2008

I have been going to Spring Thyme for my bikini waxes for a few months and was always pleased with my results. Then one day my usual waxer wasnt in and they suggested Zori to me...my life may never be the same. This woman is amazing! I was going on my honeymoon and decided to go for a Brazilian wax for a change. Zori used a hard wax and a soft touch that made the experience way less nerve wracking than I expected it to be. She kept me relaxed and calm the entire time and that eased the process. \r If I have any complaints about Spring Thyme is about the size of the rooms, but do you want a spacious room? or a job well done at a reasonable price? \r Dont hesitate to use this salon. Pros: Reasonalbe price, staff always accomodates you Cons: Small treatment rooms more

Lovely Seaweed Wrap 10/14/2008

Went to see Zori for a seaweed wrap and absolutely loved it! the room was a little chilly, but it was a relaxing experience nonetheless. After you shower you even get a mini massage with special rehydration lotion which was a total bonus. I will be going back for another before the year is out! Oh yeah- and big plus- you can get specials throughout the year if you just call and ask. I think I paid all of $70 for the hour treatment which was regularly $90. :) Overall a good and inexpensive experience. Pros: cheap, effective and convenient- can't ask for more than that Cons: need completely closed off rooms for noise reduction, a little chilly more

Highly Recommended 9/29/2008

It doesnt matter what time of the day you go, the service is great. Sometimes I dont even make an appointment and they see me right away. When i do make an appointment they are very prompt. more

Pain be gone 9/9/2008

I started going to Spring Thyme while in Law School 3 years ago to help with headaches, neck and back pain and have kept going regulary since then. Rod has magical fingers and is always able to relieve my pain or relax me, depending on what I need. While I only ever receive massages from Rod, my friends have also told me that they have had good experiences there. I highly recommend giving this place a shot. more

Best Brazilian Bikini Wax in all of New York City 9/4/2008

Since I started using Zori at Spring Thyme for my brazilian bikini waxes, my skin is so much softer and the hair grows back so much less and not as ingrown. Spring Thyme uses hard wax, as opposed to the soft wax that most people are used to, and it personally changed my life. Everyone is friendly, and the salon itself is pristine. Excellent all around, and I highly recommend it. more

I still have a scar on my forehead from the horrible facial 5/9/2008

I thought this would be a good place given the reviews. My first treatment was a facial which was not very relaxing at all and done in a too small and too bright room. Extractions were excruciating. My skin looked much worse after this facial and I still have a scar on my forehead (more than 6 months later) from the very unskilled aesthetician.\r \r I changed for my facial in the facial room. There is no locker area to put your stuff--which is fine, I wasn't asking for a ""bliss"" experience, but when it came time for me to have my massage done, i had to wait in the waiting area in a robe with my purse in tow, a bag with earlier purchases and my clothes and shoes all in a lump in my lap becasue there was hardly any room to sit. Not to mention, i am in a robe in a drafty area. No one volunteered to ""look at my tongue"" and give me advice on chinese herbs that might be good for me.\r \r My massuse made some creepy comment that he would be happy to give me a deeper stretch but that I wasn't wearing any underwear. I ignored it and was not relaxed at all. Very mediocre massage.\r \r I do not recommend this place at all. Stay clear. Cons: horrible facial, bad massgae, uncomfortable logistics more

Agree w/ nynativegal!! 4/27/2008

I completely agree with nynativegal's post from last April. I was there in January of this year and I had pretty much the exact same response from my masseuse. I was there once before in the fall and had a wonderful masseuse which is why I decided to return. But I was sorely disappointed and made to feel like an idiot after I asked my therapist to work out some knots and was told, that I was asking for a deep tissue but paying for a swedish. That was really bizarre...needless to say, I haven't returned since and was totally bummed that the therapist I really enjoyed the first time I was there is gone without a trace... Cons: creaky massage room floors more

Great Place 12/26/2007

Highly recommended GO for a visit!\r \r I use to shop there a while ago before it became a spa. I love the service/excellent facial/excellent massages.\r The staff is wonderful and the environment is very calming. Yes they make you wait in the back because they look for your chart and the massage therapist has to get ready. I got a robe because I got two treatments a facial and a massage.\r \r They are always very nice and understanding. THEY know their customers also. I love this place. Go for a visit!\r \r more

these people do not know how to give a facial 12/11/2007

this may be an ok place to go for massages, but it is a terrible place to go for a facial. my face looked like a mountaneous red mask by the time i left, and the pain! Cons: facial desecration more

Fantastic Inexpensive Spa Downtown! 6/22/2007

I visited Spring Thyme Spa for the first time today based upon recommendations I had read on ths website, and I am SO GLAD to have discovered this place. I was very happy with the customer service, the extremely friendly staff, the relaxing atmosphere and the nice decor. It's definitely not the poshest spa I've ever been to but, for the prices, the effort to which they have gone to spruce up the environment and - more importantly - their conscientious customer service is very impressive and almost touching - clearly these people take pride in their business. I got a Brazilian and would almost be willing to lose my arm before I would lose this technician. A good waxer gets to know you quickly and they are very hard to find. Very little pain - even though I hadn't had a Brazilian in almost two years!!! Now I think that's saying something! I will definitely go back. Pros: Friendly and customer-oriented staff; prices. Cons: Having to walk through the downtown crowds and tourists to get there - but it's worth it! more

Spring Thyme 5/31/2007

I am a long-time customer at Spring Thyme (formerly Herbal World). I first went there for acupuncture and herbs because of my asthma and cystic fibrosis. I later found massage to be better for my needs and have been going there ever since. I have had massages from every therapist they've hired at the Manhattan location. Each one is different, but all are wonderful. The more experienced therapists are amazing, but even the newbies right out of massage school are very good. When I need a strong, deep massage or a gentle, relaxing massage, all I have to do is tell them and they comply with pleasant attitudes and a high level of expertise. I have also had a couple of facials at the spa. They have been amazing too. The level of knowledge and professionalism shown by the entire staff is refreshing. I highly recommend treating yourself to a few hours at Spring Thyme. Pros: great massage therapists, friendly staff, great location more

Great Staff 5/30/2007

I recently had a package service done at spring thyme where I had a deep pore cleansing facial and a deep tissue massage. My massage was handled in a very professional manner the massage therapist treated me with care and really worked on my problem areas. I felt like new after my treatment. The facial was also very good the esthesian explained every step to me before she began. It made me feel more involved and more educated afterwards, Now I know what to look for when I go for facials. Pros: Knowledgeable Staff more

Great Massage and Facial 5/29/2007

I went for a massage and facial at Spring Thyme Spa and had a great experience. The decor is quaint, warm and inviting. The staff were very nice. I was breaking out big time when I stepped in and the organic facial products that they used helped to calm my skin significantly, which was perfect because I had a big event to go to the next day. As for the massage, it was so relaxing that I had to extend it for another 30 min. Next time I am going to try their acupucturist. Pros: Strong massages, Relaxing facials Cons: No Lockers more

Not worth the money, massage shorter than supposed to be 5/10/2007

The location is good, right by the Seaport/WTC. When I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the receptionists and taken back to the waiting room. I found it weird to be in the waiting room still with all my clothes on. There was tea and some nuts nearby but there was barely anything left and a bunch of empty glasses standing around. Nobody really asked me if I wanted anything so I thought that was a little odd for a spa. My massage therapist was nice. I was walked to the room but for a day spa, i found it weird that there were no locker rooms, robes, slippers...nothing. i was just told to hang my clothes on the door. massage was ok, pressure was good BUT it ended at least 15 minutes b4 it was supposed to. I thought that was very rude and unprofessional. At the end, when I was paying, the receptionists rudely stated that i should leave a NICE tip... Pros: good location, good skill of therapist Cons: shorter than supposed to be massage, no locker rooms , no robes, slippers more

Super Low Quality Massages 4/23/2007

This is by far the WORST massage I've ever experienced. It seems Spring Thyme is more interested in quantity (note multiple locations) over quality with half-assed trained uncertified massage ""therapists"" who perform half-assed massages and tell you ""well, I""m sorry, that's about all you're going to get"" when politely asked for more pressure - hey, she asked if the pressure was fine and besides that, I specifically booked my appointment for a deep tissue massage but instead got a lot of pat downs instead. What is the point of asking if you have any problems, if the pressure is ok, if the massage was ok if you're not going to do anything about it when told otherwise? For $60, they should be charging more realistic chinatown prices for the pseudo spa experience and stop jerking customers around. Very disheartening and a huge waste of money that could have been better spent for more quality service elsewhere. Pros: hmm, near the subway? Cons: worst possible massages = waste of time and money more
