My wife and my bro and his GF decided to go to STK last week for dinner. We are native New Yorkers and we always frequent great restaurants. We visited the STK in Las Vegas and ha...

Succulent steak..mmmm 5/15/2007

My experience at STK was great. The steak is cooked to perfection, service is impeccable, and the music is wild! We were seated a few minutes after our reservation but believe me, it was well worth the wait! STK and I have a new lover affair called the Tempest Storm drink. Amazing! Try it when you can! Pros: Great food and music. Cons: Nada more

So-so service 4/30/2007

Food was good, but staff not too attentive. It felt like a crowd that wanted to be seen more than to eat. more

If you like good food and good service this is not the place for you! 4/24/2007

Steak was small, tough and over done. If fact I was not asked how I wanted it cooked! Service equally bad. I had to ask for everything I got. The noise level was incredible. Impossible to carry on a conversation. I can't understand why it was packed with poeple. more

Love this hot spot!!! 4/2/2007

Went to STK last Thursday for some appetizers and cocktails and had a WONDERFUL time! If you are looking for chic place with good looking people, great drinks and excellent food....go here! There is definitely a good vibe here....the scene is a mixture of happy hour goers still dressed in suits and girls in cute dresses. We did not have dinner reservations but started off with drinks at the bar. I had the Rediscovered Cherry Cosmo and it was one of the best cosmos's I've ever had! Since we couldnt get seated we ordered some appetizers at the bar which were small portions but worth it because they were so unique and really tasty. We got the Shrimp Cocktail, Shrimp Rice Krispies, Tuna Tartar and the house French Fries which were fabulous (and rolled in parmesean...not rolled in powder sugar as an angry reader commented). We didnt have any problems with the staff...bartenders were pleasant. Cannot wait to go back again! Pros: Chic crowd, great drinks and food more

Great food and atmosphere, below average service. 3/28/2007

50% steakhouse 50% lounge. We had 8pm reservations but ended up having to wait about an hour for a table to open up. No big deal for us as we weren't in a rush and just grabbed a few drinks at the bar. Definitely a younger crowd than your traditional steakhouse. The place was pretty crowded, and REALLY loud. Once we were seated, the service was definitely below average. Our waitress, while usually accessible, was curt and generally a b*tch. The food, however, was a different story all together- fantastic. The apps were superb (esp the beef tartar and the oysters), and the steak definitely up to par (though not the best I've ever had). All in all, A for food and decor, C- for service. Pros: Food, decor, prices not outrageous for a steakhouse in NYC Cons: Service more

I love this place 3/26/2007

To be correct and to the point. I have read the "reviews" and after going to STK a few times I can give my true opinion, not like the last two as thier problem seems to be the service. I will tell you everytime I've been it's fun, the foods very good, service could be better (in the business) and they really need to get the reservations fixed as everytime I made reservations only one time out of three was I sat promptly. Pros: Food, music, atmosphere Cons: Reservations more

Avoid unless you hate yourself 3/25/2007

Yes its true, STK is the worst restaurant in nyc. Its not really that the food is so bad, but it is, for me to ever consider this restaurant again, they would have to fire the entire hostess staff, and really make an effort to appreciate their customers. I dont care that this is nyc, treat people right. Pros: None Cons: Service is poor more

Poor Experience 3/22/2007

Not sure what the last person is talking about, I was there last night and service was poor. I thought the waitstaff was decent but the hostess was extremely rude. I waited with a friend for over an hour and was not offered anything despite having a reservation. Food was decent, but no worth it. Other more established places in the city have a much better vibe and the food is far superior. I would avoid. Pros: good location Cons: food and ambience is subpar more

Super fun, hot girls, good food and service 3/22/2007

When I visit N.Y.C. again STK is on the top of my list. Had super fun from the time we arrived to when we left. Try the truffle fries, corn pudding, new york and bread pudding...ohhh the pudding. Till next time STK.. Pros: overall great Cons: wine a little pricy more

The Food and Steak was as Tony the Tiger says Grrreat!! 3/22/2007

As stated the food was very good and I had a nice time although there is something to be said for the service and hostess (teranasha), not accomodating unless there's a tip involved. After getting over that the food and overall experience was great. Pros: Food, music, drinks more

3 times and STK only gets better 3/21/2007

So I have read all the reviwews and decided that I would check it out for myself. My conclusion after three visits is STK is way above average for the overall experience. All three times I was in we had a great time and the food was great everytime, for example try the foie gras french toast (yum!!!!), rib eye, corn pudding (to die for) and the skate just for starters. This place is a MECCA for people watching and you will see celebs here as we were there one night and Teri Hatcher was sitting right behind us. Great music, good vibe and awesome drinks (wine a little overpriced) and it just got better everytime, SWEET!! I will put this on my list for places to be AND I truly think that the last few reviews are from haters or competitors as THREE OUT THREE TIMES AND NOT ONE BAD EXPERIENCE?? I say stop hating and try it for yourself... One thing I will say is that the last time we were there we waited a little too long and the one thing that made me not upset is that I was remembered and was bought a round of drinks. Pros: Food, people watching and fun atmosphere Cons: none more

Disappointment 3/21/2007

Such a miserable experience. The food reminded me of cafeteria mystery meat with a 500% markup. At least at cafeterias you get those good tatter tots. Dont go here if you are trying to impress. Mash/Rib rocked though. Pros: The location Cons: The restaurant more

I would rather eat a dog sh**t 3/20/2007

Steak was chewy and my salad had a hair. The scene is overly metro, I had to jack my pants up two inches and expose some chest hair just to fit in. I would rather lick the dirt off of my shoe than spend another penny at this piece a crp. Pros: None Cons: Everything more

Speak to the Hand 3/20/2007

Another wannabe "hotspot" serving $15 martinis to the skin-and-bones botox crowd. Made our group wait one hour after reservation. Host (whom I will dub Manolo) gave "the hand" when we asked why other parties who arrived after us were seated first. If we wanted to go clubbing, Tenjune is downstairs. When our table was finally ready, we walked out (blew off Manolo's attempt to offer us a round of free drinks). Had a fantastic dinner at Corner Bistro a few blocks away. Pretty confident the burger, fries and draft beer were far satisfying than whatever blah STK was dishing out. Pros: Playground for wannabe models & bottles Cons: Host & hostess more

Great place for dinner parties or romantic date 3/18/2007

Had an absolute blast here on friday night. I had planned my boyfriend's surprise birthday dinner here for a party of 12 and the service.. from making the reservations through dessert was absolutely commendable. Giselle is a fine asset to their reservations and host team, as she assisted me patiently through several changes and made suggestions to make our experience spectacular. The weather was quite treacherous outside, and I was very impressed at how STK patiently allowed our guests to wait at the bar for awhile after our reservation time, while some of the late-comers arrived. The table was perfect, and everyone from the hostesses, to the wait staff, to even the bathroom attendant was courteous, knowledgable, and kind. The food was fantastic.. I had the shrimp rice crispies (a signature app), skirt steak (suggested by Giselle), and the warm molten cake (AMAZING... shared by everyone and loved!)! Great food... alot of fun... cozy atmosphere... I would highly recommend this establishment for both the larger dinner party or a romantic date. more

TERRIBLE MEAL - GOOD PLACE FOR DRINKS 3/7/2007

My boyfriend and I went Saturday night for dinner after having been to STK to celebrate New Years. Since we had a wonderful night there with friends on New Year's Eve we decided that we would go back. This past saturday the meal was quite honestly disgusting. We shared an appetizer (a salad) which was fine, but when our steak came they were both overcooked and tough. We also orded spinach and these potato fries (they were more like blocks) but the spinach was way too salty and the fries were covered in something like powdered sugar. Needless to say it was highly nauseating. We both didn't drink alcohol (which would have probably helped looking back on this experience) and the check came and we couldn't believe how expensive it was. Our french Bistro around the corner is so much better! There is no need to eat at this restaurant. Maybe go for a drink or two because that's fine but go have steak somewhere else. This place is definitely not worth it at all. SERIOUSLY THOUGH, DO NOT EAT HERE. Pros: Ambience Cons: FOOD more

STK! snob snob snob 2/25/2007

STK will not last! We went there once when they first opened and they were all nice and very inviting. The food is great. The service, totally pretentious....We were on our way there for dinner saturday but when we showed up, they couldnt find our reservation and they apparently couldnt accomodate us at all....so here's what we did, we went down the street to a lovely lil spot with a gorgeous heated garden and we had a blast. the service there was good. We didnt feel like we had to be part of the 'meatpaking elite' to get a table. STK is a trend. If they dont change their 'we're the best around' attitude, they're gonna crash. The host was awful!!! And even after showing them my reservation confirmation they said they couldnt get me a table.....never again! Steak is steak...served with so much attitude, it doesnt taste good! Cons: snobs, attitude, rude more

best food ! beautiful staff 2/18/2007

I went there 3 times ! and every time I love more !!! love the food !!! Foi gras ! ***** sirloin Steak **** And the staff very friendly !!! like REGGIE the host he is so nice and professional !!! Pros: ambience, food, host more

Good Fun AND Good Food 1/28/2007

Had an excellent time at STK. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant without being intrusive. The table split the Tuna appetizer, which we absolutely loved. We also shared the short rib (excellent), the fois gras and french toast (eh) and a steak which was cooked to perfection. I think the sauces were a nice accompaniment; It was like having steak 4 ways in one dish. Of course, with any sauce, if you use too much it becomes overbearing. The ambiance was great... plenty to look at from beautiful people to the beautiful room with a fireplace. I will go back. Again. And again. Pros: ambiance, food Cons: volume more

The best hot spot ever! 1/25/2007

I have read the other reviews concerning STK, and i have to disagree 100%! From the moment you walk and and see this wonderful space, the energy just hits you. I was here on a Wednesday night and it felt like a Saturday! The hostesses are wonderful and attentive, the waitstaff more than knowledgable about the food and wine and had such great personalities. I was here with a group of friends and we were sitting across from Scarlett Johanassen who was totally trying to hide herself. The food was great - Short Ribs are the best and the cocktail list is great too. We had the best time at STK - will be back soon. more

  • STK artfully blends the modern steakhouse and a chic lounge into one, offering a dynamic, fine dining experience, with the superior quality of a traditional steakhouse. NYC’s premier year-round rooftop featuring skyline and highline views.

Editorial
  • The Scene
Picture windows along the facade show off the pretty crowd like mannequins at neighboring boutiques. Stark black-and-white accents, from faux elephant tusks flanking the bar to the shiny ebony leather lining the lounge, infuse the space with contrast. A live DJ clinches the clubby mood.

    The Food
Meat portions, divided into small, medium and large cuts, are all generous; the humbly named "Little T," for example, offers a quality 10-ounce T-bone. A selection of garden salads--like a mache, crab, melon and avocado mix--will appease those concerned with fitting into designer duds, while lightly curried scallops garnished with peas are a seafood standout. Some mains, like the bland short ribs, don't fare as well, though any dish can be saved by the parmesan-truffle fries--a stack of lightly crisped potato rectangles packing salty-earthy power in each bite. A fruit salad punched up with black pepper provides a refreshing but assertive ending.
