Best Workout in NYC 7/21/2010

Absolutely love it and can't say enough good things about it - I heard about it forever ago and was dying to try it. I started off with the two week groupon last winter and before the the two weeks were up I knew that I wanted to keep going. I've worked out my whole life and never been challenged like this...I've been going 3-4 times a week since last January and while it's gotten somewhat easier and I definitely feel stronger I still leave feeling like I've had an awesome workout and drenched in sweat!!! And I have to say even on other days when I run, spin etc I still don't feel as good afterwards as I do with this. And the instructors are great guys, they may yell a little but that's what pushes you to go outside your comfort zone unlike the guy at the gym who's putting me to sleep while he's counting to 10. And obviously the cherry on top is that my body has changed in ways I didn't think possible!!! more

Intense, Fast-Paced, High Energy Workout! 7/21/2010

As a long-time client of Pure Power Boot Camp, I must say that after almost three years of attending classes regularly (3X per week), this workout pays off. Not only has it kept my interest during all these months, but it also continues to challenge me on a day-in, day-out basis. The routines always vary slightly from day-to-day, and there is literally ""never a dull moment"" in this class. This gym is for all different types: the bride who wants to shed pounds quickly before the big day, the couch potato who has never worked out before in his/her life, the casual runner who wants to get in shape before a big 10K, etc. The instructors are there to help and motivate you 24/7 and will not let you slack no matter how much you try. They are skilled at what they do, and are great at judging different fitness levels and customizing your workout to suit you! Pros: Challenging, Not Boring, Personal Attention more

Best Workout I have Ever Done! 7/21/2010

Doing Pure Power Boot Camp was the best decision I have ever made. I saw results right away and it challenged me more than any other work out I have ever done. I seriously recommend it for anyone who is looking to get in shape and needs some extra motivation. more

Challenging & Empowering 7/21/2010

Pure Power Boot Camp has been a great experience for me. Its a constant challenge, and never gets boring. The instructors are 100% committed to every class. In 2.5 years, I've never once felt like they weren't entirely engaged or were just going through the motions. (I only wish I was that ""on"" at my job every day!) Pure Power works! I have become stronger, I have become slimmer, and I manage the stress of daily life much better. Pros: true, measurable results more

BEST WORKOUT EVER!!! 7/21/2010

If you are looking for one of the absolute greatest workouts look no further. I have been an avid gym member since 1993 and a total sports nut most of my life and I have yet to find a workout that is as challenging interesting and all around intense as this place. I have been coming for over a year now and the results are amazing - you don't need to be a supreme athlete either to enjoy this place just need to have the desire to get in the best shape of your life. You get what you put in so stop by and give them a try you won't regret it!! NOW DROP DOWN AND GIVE ME TEN!!! Pros: great workout, amazing instructors, intense environment more

The Best Workout in NYC!! 7/21/2010

I have been going to Pure Power Boot Camp for 3 years now. I originally thought I would just do it for 6 weeks to get into shape. But once I saw the results Ibought another package, and then another, etc. You will never get a better workout in your life. And people always ask me ""Do I need to be in good shape to do this?"". The truth is the class has people of all sizes and physiques, and the trainers do a great job of making it work for everyone. I highly recommend this. You would not be disappointed! Pros: great instructors, will change your physique more

terrific workout / fun environment / real results 7/19/2010

If you're looking for a terrific, fast paced workout that gives you the most of every minute (there is no wasted time here), Pure Power Boot Camp is for you! The instructors are high energy, no non-sense former military who really get you going. This is a tough, yet encouraging environment. The the kicker.... instructors are all beautiful! PPBC truly transforms your body. Just give it 3 months, and you will have your best body ever! I have seen terrific results, and I have the team at PPBC to thank! You have nothing to lose but excess weight - and you feel GREAT! There is no better way to start or end your day... Pros: challenging workout, great instructors, guaranteed results more

The workout of your life 7/15/2010

Imagine a workout where you do jumping jacks to raise your heart rate and maybe at the end to lower your heart rate. Each day has a different concentration, be it abs, arms, legs but you can count on challenging every muscle every time. I can not say enough good things about the program and the staff. Sans the cost, which might not fit all budgets, I was surprised to read negative reviews. I have attended small classes and large classes and find both hour workouts equally challenging. No matter the size of the class everyone is kept busy all of the time and when it is time to go to the rock wall for sit-ups at the end of the class you know that you have been pushed to your limits and will feel great. Pros: excellent staff, great conditioning more

Get ready to sweat, and pay up 7/15/2010

I give PPBC 3 stars to average out a 5-star workout with 1-star customer service. Pros: Most difficult workout of your life Cons: Poor plan administration more

The Best thing I ever did for myself!! 7/7/2010

Pure Power Boot Camp is the best thing I ever did for myself. I joined back in February 2008. I never worked out before, and went in cold turkey. I felt I needed to be pushed and motivated. I joined without ever seeing the gym, just the brouchure. Called Lauren the owner, who is truely Amazing! Signed on, and when I started, my husband gave me a week and said I wouldn't last. Boy was he wrong and truely satisfied with my results. It is now over 2years I have been going and loving it. It is an amazing workout. The first week I started, I was in alot of pain, and thought I pulled every muscle in my body, my husband was laughing at me because it even hurt when I would laugh. I took hot baths and advil, and kept going the 1st week. I did not stop. I went for 4 days and worked through it. The second week was still hard, by the 3rd week, I knew I loved it. I saw results after the first 6 weeks. I now have gone down from a size 8 to a size 2. I would have butterflies in my stomach every morning before I would go, but that has passed too. Now I can't wait to go to the class. If you are thinking of trying Pure Power Boot Camp, I highly reccommend it! It has changed my life, I feel so much better about how I look, and it has made me a lot stronger. I am a 43year old mother of 2 boys, 6 and 10years old, and they always ask me if I went to boot camp today and what I did. They even know how much I enjoy it and how happy it makes me! Give it a try and you will not regret that you did! more

Great Concept but Not as Promised 2/16/2010

I joined Pure Power Boot Camp as a trial member for 6 classes. I think this ""Gym"" has great potential and its concept is unique to the public; however, the few times I attended, classes tended to be a little crowded with over 15+ people. Occasionally, there was only one instructor in the morning. Other classes run with over 20 members and 2 trainers. Obviously, it could be very hard to get a really good work out in an over-crowded exercise class environment. According to their website, every class is limited to not over 16 ""recruits"" per class, and ?every drill instructor is former military.? This is not the case. All the trainers are not Veterans ? I think only one is. He is actually a very good trainer and seems to know what he's doing; there's another one who is also good but I?m not sure if he is or was in the military. One of them seems he would rather be somewhere else and tends to make us do the same drills during each class. Besides their yelling all the time, they seem to be good listeners and care about the comfort and safety of the recruits. I still haven't met the owner. Pros: Great concept Cons: not like it's promised more

Buyer Beware 2/15/2010

BUYERS BEWARE! Before spending your money at Pure Power Boot Camp (PPBC) look at what you get for the money and look at other boot camp programs in the area. PPBC is overpriced and doesn?t compare to other boot camp programs. Cons: Crowded, expensive for what you get more

Tough but comfortable 2/2/2010

I was scared as hell when I called to schedule my Groupon appointments.. and boyyy did I have reason.. Even though the staff and instructors are very comforting, theres nothing they can do to help the fact that I AM COMPLETELY OUT OF SHAPE!! Don't get me wrong I do pilates and workout religiously at the gym but NOTHING compared to this... I love love love the workout, the atmosphere and most of all the HOT instructors :).. Definitely signing up for a Tour of Duty to get my body ready for the summer!! Pros: KICKASS WORKOUT Cons: My EVERYTHING hurts!!! more

Courage & Respect? 11/17/2009

Wow, my first time at boot camp, I was thinking....""I made the right decision"" by spending my money at PPBC instead of another class or pt, and there are a lot of choices. Besides the occassional overcrowded class [I took mostly in the evenings], I loved it. I even raved about it to other folks encouraging them to visit and see what it's all about. That is until the end of my 5th week. Due to several factors & circumstances, I was injured and ultimately had to have surgery. Please note that I'm in no way suggesting or blaming PPBC for my injury. However, after repeated phone calls and emails letting them know my status, I received no response. Let's just say their silence was deafening. Courage? Was all this perceived care and concern for my ""results"" only valid as long as I was paid up??? How disheartening to feel like I was only worthy of concern as long as I was re-upping. More disappointing than not finishing the full 6 weeks was the utter lack of respect for me. They should learn to practice what they preach. Pros: Great Workout Cons: Overcrowded, Indifferent more

If you want to get in shape... sign up. 7/24/2009

Pure Power Rocks! Pros: Amazing more

Right on point 7/22/2009

I am finishing my second week and this place is legit. The first session was brutal, I really didn't think I was going to make it and was like a walking zombie for hours after! I am still nowhere near able to complete all the reps on all the exercises, but I have already seen a notable improvement on my fitness and strength- just waiting for the improvement on my waist line, but think that will take a little more time. Also, some of the other class members are very motivating- I've never seen so many girls do so many pushups! And everyone is very nice and encouraging, plus you start to know members of class and it gives an extra layer of accountability. Pros: Intense, High Cardio, Cons: Overcrowding more

Awesome Work out 6/5/2009

I just completed my first week of boot camp and it's been a tough one. The first day , 20 minutes into my work out I wanted to quit. I felt it was too much. I'm still struggling with some exercises. However, PPBC is amazing. I have never worked out so hard in my life. I've gone to the gym, had a personal trainer and the results were okay. But with PPBC you come out of class feeling amazing. This boot camp is far from boring and always challenges you. The first week was very hard but I look forward to more torture as its all worth it. I've taken gym classes and worked out at the gym but nothing beats PPBC, you won't get bored. So for those who are thinking about joining PPBC I say go for it its well worth it. Just be ready to push yourself and there is no slacking allowed at PPBC. Pros: you loose weight, get stronger, have more endurance Cons: Classes can get big more

If you can't take the heat, stay outta the kitchen. 7/1/2008

I always start this review process by reading everyone else?s first. Great fun to see who is being brutally honest about something and who is being bitter. I can?t say enough good things about this place and rather than being redundant, I would suggest you all read the comments below. I agree with most of them but any with less than 4 stars: pass over. (Bitter). I?ll summarize so you don?t waste your time. Whoever wrote ?after my 6 weeks of 4x a week, I didn?t lose an inch or a pound?, must have been eating like a pig when they weren?t in PPBC. It?s not humanly possible NOT lose inches or weight in this place. (Unless of course you?re a slacker.). I?m down 12 pounds, 2 inches, 8 weeks. And a ""class full of out of shape girls who can?t do a pushup"" ? R U an anorexic gymnast? The women in the classes I?ve taken are in better shape than most people in the most popular health clubs in the city. more
