All 3 times I went I was pretty dissapointed. I had my eyebrows threaded and every time i ended up having to go home and finish plucking...and not just a few strands. Maybe the di...

Terrible Experience 11/9/2011

I had a pretty horrible facial here. The salon is dirty, and I was placed in an uncomfortable chair on the street level room- don't know where the "spa" room is, but I was not there. The woman was nice, but everything felt dirty..the steamer to open my pores looked like it had old water in the bottom..the TV was blaring...it was really just not a pleasant atmosphere. The facial was ok, but , she didn't avoid my eye area at all and rubbed everything that she put on my face directly on my eyelids and into my eyes! It was horrible! My vision was blurry and my eyes were irritated all day. She also put rubbing alcohol on a paper towel and applied it directly to my skin, and at times right over my nose so that I was breathing in the fumes. She didn't seem to have much skill. Will never go there for a facial again! Beware! It was probably the worst facial I have ever had. more

Meticulous threading 12/4/2009

I've been going here for about 4 months now and I absolutely love it. My eyebrows have been perfectly shaped every single time. They are extremely meticulous and thorough with their work. They're also very warm and friendly with their customers. I've been to high and low end places that could take lessons about customer service from these ladies. Pros: meticulous threading more

Glowing Skin, Facials! 12/29/2008

A friend went in to Praba Salon for a facial and her skin was amazing! Her skin is pretty good to begin with but sometimes the texture looks a little rough. She couldn't stop saying how soft her skin felt and it "breathed" better. That was enough proof for me and no more excuses like I couldn't afford it cause Praba's prices are really good (which I'm ashamed now to say was part of the reason I didn't believe they would really do anything). I get breakouts sometimes on my forehead and chin area that I'm very self conscious about. I could tell the difference immediately after! My skin feels so good and soft and it actually glows. My friend is going in next because she's so impressed with my results. Pros: facials, prices, amazing results more

Went in very scared Left VERY HAPPY! 9/18/2008

i am so happy with my experience at Praba Salon. i never did anything to eyebrows before but tweeze here and there. my friends had really bad experiences with waxing and other threading places so i just left mine alone. i was so scared that i'm sure i was annoying. but the girl was so sweet who made me feel calm. she told me what she thought would be best for my face and brows before starting. after she showed me one to make sure i was happy. i was sooooooo happy! she finished the other and i couldn't stop looking at the mirror. i thanked her over and over again and left feeling happy and beautiful. i never thought you could do this much with eyebrows or it would make such a difference but it does! Pros: $7 for beautiful eyebrows, patient, professional and so sweet more

Great service, comfortable environment 7/9/2008

I live near Praba Salon and am so happy that it's a part of my neighborhood! I regularly go to Praba for waxing and eyebrow threading. Staff is friendly and respectful and I can nearly always get an appointment within 24-48 hours of when I call. Eyebrow threading does not require an appointment, which allows me to drop in when I can -- you can't beat that. more

Mask & Massage, Highly Recommend 5/22/2008

Had the sandalwood mask and an hour massage at Praba Salon and left feeling like I was floating on air. Rejuvenated. The mask smelled heavenly and my face felt so smooth that I couldn't stop touching it. And the massage therapist worked out all the kinks in my neck and back that had been wearing me down for weeks. I received a free eyebrow threading at the end which gave new shape and life to my overplucked brows. I absolutely recommend Praba Salon. Pros: sandalwood mask, massage, indian motif, price is right more

Threading is great for sensitive skin 3/31/2008

My skin is super sensitive. Before I discovered threading I used to suffer from the "JUST GOT WAXED" redness on my eyebrows and upper lip. Ladies who've experienced this know how embarassing it is. To make matters worse I would get these little bumps all over the areas. My skin kept reacting badly to the wax. Thank God for threading. Actually thank God for good threaders. The best I've gotten hands down is at Praba Salon. They know what they'e doing, take their time, they listen and the salon is clean. After a few trial and errors at other salons, I can tell you not all salons or threaders are like this. Pros: gentle threading, staff that listens, great prices more

Beautiful threading and henna 3/17/2008

I went to Praba Salon after reading their review by Shecky's. The beautician gave me a beautiful shape to my eyebrows and encouraged me to keep them full. (Other places I've been to have overthreaded or overwaxed.) Another beautician did an amazing henna design on my hand and lower back. It looks very artistic and authentic. She did it totally freehand and is very skilled. I highly recommend Praba Salon if you're looking for a great place to get your threading or a henna done. I've haven't seen better quality or prices anywhere else. Pros: skilled beauticians, quality, authentic, prices more

They're the BEST! 3/4/2008

I've been going to Praba for about a year for threading and recently got treated to a facial for my birthday. First let me say that I don't know what that poster below is talking about. I've never had anyone that smelled like smoke or that was rude?? They're sooo friendly there! My facial was wonderful and my skin felt baby soft afterwards. It was so relaxing and I felt the knots get worked out of my shoulders. Then of course, I got my eyebrows threaded (upstairs mind you.. it's not in the same room) which of course was great, beautiful arch that I never got anywhere else. Which is why I'm a loyal customer of theirs. I highly recommend you go and try their threading and facials. Pros: the best threading, facials, their prices and they're very friendly more

Visiting from Ireland 2/28/2008

We had the Hydrating Facial and the Aromatherapy Acne Facial at Praba Salon. We thought the facial was lovely and relaxing, we fell asleep. Relaxing music, absolutely lovely, will recommend to our sister and friends here. We also love our eyebrows, like the results of the shape. Initially it was a little uncomfortable as it was our first time, but overall it was great. Thank you. Pros: facial, threading, relaxing more

Spend the extra money and go somewhere else 2/27/2008

Well for starters the facialists hands smelled like cigarettes. In the "relaxation room" you could hear your facialist thread other peoples eyebrows while you are waiting for an extended period of time, so it was both not relaxing and rather rude. I guess you get what you pay for! In my case I need to go to the dermatologist because instead of caring for my skin it was simply irritated and now is red and swollen! I simply dont understand the great reviews I read. Pros: Rude service, not relaxing environment Cons: Cheap more

5 Gold Stars! 2/13/2008

My friends kept saying "You have to go to Praba!" I heard Prada and was confused - they're doing eyebrows now? After they laughed at me, I went. The girls are really lovely, not that phony salesperson stuff but sincere and very warm. Shayla did a beautiful job on my eyebrows and gave me a great shape. I did underarm waxing too and she took her time leaving no stray hairs behind. Highly recommend them! Pros: great prices, clean, thorough, take their time with you more

Men's Facial 10/21/2007

I was able to book a last minute appointment for a facial at Praba Salon on Friday. The facialist was friendly, accomodating and professional. The facial was incredible and the facialist's touch was so soothing and relaxing, it put me to sleep. I woke up to see and feel my face fresh and clean, and no redness or bruising after either. It was the perfect treat to start off the rest of my weekend. Pros: great uptown spa, relaxing atmosphere, best prices in town more

Praba Salon is Amazing! 10/8/2007

I don't have a lot of hair on my eyebrows and there are some gaps from waxing and over tweezing. But somehow the threaders at Praba manage to give me a great shape and arch. The transformation of my eyebrows is amazing! I always look fresher and leave extremely happy. P.S. The directions citysearch has is wrong. Praba is closer to the 6 train at 96th Street. Pros: skill, staff, atmosphere, value more

Great Affordable Pampering 9/18/2007

I love Praba Salon because it's close to my job, you get the best service and the prices are incredible. There's also no pretentious attitude whatsoever and you feel like they REALLY care about your needs. From threading to facials, I've always left extremely happy and that's why I'm a loyal customer of theirs. I can afford to take care of my eyebrows and skin regularly now, and it has made a huge difference. Pros: pampering at its best more

Excellent threading and waxing 7/2/2007

I discovered Praba Salon while walking through the neighborhood last week. I went in for eyebrow threading and leg waxing. I liked that they don't charge an arm and leg for waxing, like other places in the area do. The waxing was less painful than other places I've been to and I think it has to do with the type of wax they use. I also got a beautiful arch and shape to my eyebrows. The girl was very friendly and took her time with my services, making sure I was happy with the results. Pros: Type of wax hurts less, Eyebrow shaping, Prices more

Just like family 6/18/2007

I'm ashamed it's taken me this long to write a review about Praba since I've been going to them for about 4 years. I am moving out of New York in 2 weeks and I will miss them so much. They have been like family to me... probably sounds corny but it's true. They're giving me a free facial as a going away present!!! Aside from the warmth and generosity, I've gotten the best services here and I've done threading, waxing, facials and henna. Words can't adequately describe how wonderful they are, you just have to go and experience them for yourself. THANK YOU GIRLS FOR EVERYTHING! Pros: superb services at best prices, clean, beautiful place and people Cons: can't take them with me when I move =( more

A True Gem 6/11/2007

I went to Praba Salon for threading because of a friend of mine wouldn't stop raving about them, and they more than lived up to the praise. The girls are very friendly and have a great rapport with their clients (and their kids who didn't want to leave!) and I was greeted just as warmly as a newcomer. I had my eyebrows done by Jiggi who was quick and super precise and I still can't believe it only cost $7. The place I used to go to charged $20 and required an appointment which I can't always foresee with my schedule. Honestly, I can't say the $20 place was any better. If anything Praba was much warmer and you don't feel like just another number. Pros: great value, staff is really skilled and warm & friendly more

Like no other 5/11/2007

I walk past two other threading salons to go to Praba. There's no comparison with all these factories popping up everywhere! The place I went to by my school once, Eyebrow Express is like a school cafeteria. Loud, chaotic, rude staff. And then there's Praba, which is like eating at a quaint, family style restaurant. Very peaceful, friendly and great customer care. You decide which one is better. Pros: Peaceful atmosphere, great customer care, low prices more

Henna for Hair 4/19/2007

I found out about henna for hair through a friend of mine who lives in California. It's a natural way to color grays and the henna treatment also leaves your hair super soft. I found Praba through the internet and was impressed by their great reviews. I also really liked that they were authentic with their services. The henna was applied in about 30 minutes, they wrapped it up and I went home. My hair is a little above my shoulder and it only cost $35. I was told to leave it in for a couple hours and then wash it out. I love the results! My greys are colored and my hair so shiny and healthy. Pros: gracious staff, great service, reasonable prices more
