Best Optical Experience! 5/23/2012

Not a reviewer but after coming to Optical Insight I needed too. Not only did the woman work with me and my picky request to find the most perfect pair of Oliver People's for me but before preparing for my wallet to diminish before my eyes, Jeffrey the owner gave me an amazing price and package for my prescription lenses! IT was the first time I went to an eye glass store and didn't feel like I was robbed blind! (no pun intended). NOT ONLY THAT but I did not have to dread calling my Optometrist there was a doctor in the store that took me right away! I believe his name was Justin and he was very patient and I really felt like he was genuine. I got my glasses with the prescription frame within an hour of my eye exam. I was there for only an hour and I got everything done. It was so easy and breezy I forgot I was in New York. more

What a selection 3/12/2012

I passed Optical Insight's new store on 35th street between Broadway and 7th Avenue. I bought great regular glasses and sunglasses. The selection and prices are great. Welcome to the neighborhood! more

Amazing 1/6/2011

Good: Fantastic service, everyone who works there is excellent - knowledgeable, personable and very friendly. The selection was great, they had tons of stuff in many different styles that I liked. The prices were fantastic and they swapped the lenses for my prescription quickly.. Bad: Nothing. I've shopped there for years and I can't see myself ever shopping anywhere else.. Improvements: It would be great if they had a website so I could place orders online.. Other: Fantastic store!!!. more

Great service still available 10/26/2010

I find it difficult these days to find anyone willing to provide GREAT service these days - not so at Optical Insights! My experience was so wonderful I brought my son back for his glasses and my wife will be there SOON! The staff was polite, friendly and knowledgeable. Their selection of frames spectacular! more

Great place for glasses! 9/28/2010

I recently had the pleasure of shopping for both glasses and contact lenses at Optical Insight. The owner of the store was unbelievably helpful with his suggestions for me from the large selection of designer and non-designer frames. I was promised that the glasses would be ready in 24 hours, and sure enough they were!!! I will definitely go to Optical Insight the next time I need glasses!! more

Love this place 6/23/2010

I just got my new sunglasses from Optical Insight. The staff was so friendly and helpful and the selection is great. In the past I have gotten prescription glasses here and always PERFECT-they are so easy to deal with. Check it Out....you will be so happy to deal with Optical Insight... more

I complained, the doctor saw me, and I am now a happy customer. Wishing that I had not been quite so hasty to post. Lesson learned: do not post a review until 24 hours after a misunderstanding. more

I Hate People Who Lie in their Reviews 9/18/2009

I really hate reading about people stating that Optical Insight is a horrible place. On the contrary,the service is good and the customer service is great. They are very attentive and let you purchase rims that are affordable to you.They don't try to sell you rims and give you this pitch about what is good for you. To say the least, if you make bad choices in picking certain glasses, that's on you. Don't blame them for your mistake. Ultimately, you have the last word. Don't believe the people that are probably competing against them. I love their glasses and service. more

they deserve all the bad reviews 9/4/2009

I read a review on here saying that they "heard it through the grapevine" that "somebody" is trying to sabotage optical insight's business. Not true. We are all just unsatisfied customers. We're not talking about screwing up a hamburger order. They are screwing with people's eyes and wallets. They should be ashamed with the way they treat their customers. Not everyone has a bad experience there, I'm sure, but you can tell by the reviews that most are unsatisfied. After they screwed up my prescription and overcharged me I felt so used and scammed. They had already taken my money and I thought there was nothing I could do. I looked online to see if there were any other people who got screwed by them and was not surprised to see so many on here. I'm sure they thought they could get away with scamming customer after customer. Thankfully, the internet gives the consumer a way to warn others. Nobody is perfect. People make mistakes. But these guys are systematically taking advantage of people. That is wrong and unethical and in this case dangerous. more

b*llshit ZERO STARS. 5/6/2009

I ordered very expensive glasses here , which took about 2 weeks to get. I wore them not realizing it was the reason for endless headaches. The people reassured me that I have to get used to the glasses. I wore them for 3 weeks and had endless migraines.. I didn't know what was going on. I thought there was something wrong with me. 2 CAT scans and 4 doctors later, i brought my glasses somewhere else, and it was the completely wrong prescription. It's not like I had a stronger prescription..my eyes have been the same for 5 years. These idiots have NO IDEA what they are doing. As far as I'm concerned they need to look up the definition of insight, because they have NONE. I will never go there again. more

In reference to the last review... 5/4/2009

so i got an email that someone disagreed with my review and I read it...and do you know what's funny about that last review? There are NO Doctors with a white beard...assuming that would be a man doctor...there is only a woman doctor there and she is great. They are very attentive with me from the moment I tell them I'm there for my appointment, even if I need my glasses repaired. I really feel people are out to get them. All these optical stores opened up right by them, but they're the one's that stood the test of time. I've been going there for almost 17 years. Come on! If I'm not a real person with real experience, then I don't know who is. I know the owner there and he's been there for a long time. I'll ALWAYS stay a loyal customer no matter what these reviews state. more

don't trust the good reviews! 5/2/2009

the reviews that give this place 5 stars seem a little suspicious. most likely the optical insight employees are trying to do some damage control by writing good reviews. if they spent this much effort during the actual exam, then they wouldn't have to deal with all these bad reviews. the fact that so many people have come forward on this site to write about their bad experiences at optical insight shows just how horrible they are. if there is a hell for optometrists, i hope they will burn in eternity there. they should not get away with giving rushed, unprofessional and medically dangerous service. there are a lot of crook optometrists, dentists and chiropractors in new york city and these guys are one of them. don't trust your eyes to these dangerous people! i'm not saying all the optical insights are bad, just the one on hanover square--i haven't been to the other ones. especially, do not trust the optometrist with the white beard and glasses. he could ruin your eyes! more

been there several times out of absolute necessity. i try to avoid them at all costs. have had several eye exams there and they were all inaccurate requiring me to come back for a new prescription. they're just there for the $$$ more

Uncooperative and overpriced! 6/30/2008

While the eye doctor and eye exam were both pleasant, ordering contacts was a disaster! I ordered the standard 4 boxes (6-month supply) from Optical Insight after my exam. Although it was "covered" by my insurance, I still paid $150 in extra fees and charges. So, I ordered a year's supply on 1-800-CONTACTS to stock up. They refused to provide my prescription to the online service, hanging up on their calls repeatedly (over 100 times according to 1-800-CONTACTS). To test this claim, I called with 1-800-CONTACTS secretly on the conference call. They proceed to hang up on me 3 times using this method when I asked them to verify my prescription. They also claimed that their fax machine was broken and thus they could not send the copy of the prescription to 1-800-CONTACTS. When I finally realized I would need to go back to the store location to get a copy, they called me a liar claiming none of this happened. But they did give me a copy - finally! more

i can see! 5/4/2008

I think everyone deserves the best service, and I really felt like I received it at Optical Insight. I just got lenses put into a pair of frames I already owned and the results were unbelievable.....I have a really high prescription and the quality of the lenses is almost like my contacts. You just have to see for yourself! more
