Manhattan Theatre Source is a great resource. Aside from a pleasant performance space that can be configured several ways, MTS also offers a range of programs to help actors, writers and directors develop new works -- including "Flop Night" in which works in development can take the stage in front of an audience for no fee -- and a number of speed play contests (1 week or less to write, direct, mount and perform).
