Good food, not good service 1/8/2011

Been here a few times, as I live in the neighborhood. The food is pretty good, but I always get the same waiter who has an attitude. He didn't tell us about the special soup. When I asked of there was another soup besides what was on the menu, he then told me it was lentil soup. I asked what else was in it, but he didn't know and just said it was creamy. Creamy lentil soup? When I said I'd pass, he seemed annoyed that I didn't order an appetizer, though I did have a glass of wine. My friend did get an appetizer but no wine, and again, he seemed annoyed. Her salad came with the dressing on it, even though she asked for it on the side. Besides taking our order, the waiter did nothing else. He didn't serve the food, check to see if we were enjoying it, or clear the food. Another waiter brought the dessert menu. Bad attitude and sub-par service would definitely makes me not want to return. Too bad - I live across the street! more

i don"t recommend this place because the waiter took away my dessert before while i was eating it. And the owner asked us to hurry up and eat and that he needed the table for the next customers while my friends and i were still eating!!!! more

The best italian food on Broadway 6/19/2010

I visited Luce twice this summer with my friends. Every time, we enjoyed eating black linguini, homemade ravioli and drinking very good italian vine. Service was very good too, waiters and menagers were very friendly every time. Pros: the best pasta, the best vine more

LUCE is great every time we go there 6/19/2010

We keep going to LUCE every time we go to Lincoln Center, and love it each time. Their service is that true Italian attentive service to comfort every customer. Their fish selection is fresh, and whole roasted Branzino never dissappoints. Pastas are homemade. We are so glad to find this great place whenever we go to Lincoln Center. Went to Luce to try it out as it's in the neighborhood. At 8:30 on a Thursday the place was about 2/3 empty, which probably signalled "stay away" and would have if I weren't intent on giving it a chance. Pros: Wine, sort of nice room Cons: service, food subpar more

Delicious Food, Excellent Service, Awesome Location 11/20/2009

This place was recommended to me by my friends, and after going there I can certainly recommend it to others. The service is great, as it is hard to find such service in a busy area. The atmosphere is relaxing, and the decor looks calming and nice. I had the smoked salmon for an appetizer, and it was very tastie. My girlfriend had the gnocchi, and I had to try it because it had three cheeses! It was very good. I had the taglierini with chicken, and could not be happier. My buddy had the veal, and ate everything on the plate. The wine was teriffic. I overall think the food was delicious, we all had a good time. If you are hungry, want great food, and just feel like you are in the middle of a happening area and place, this is the spot. Pros: Food, Location, Service more

Great Experience 10/10/2009

I went here this past saturday night and was amazed at how well we were treated. The pasta i ordered was cooked perfectly. They sat us quickly and the service was very helpful when choosing our meal. The Dessert was great too. I would definitely come back and try some of the other options. Pros: Great Food, Great Price, Great Ambience more

Excellent place to take your girl friend for dinner to!! 10/9/2009

I went there Saturday night with my girlfriend and was impressed with not only the food, but the service was top notch and the atmosphere was wonderful. We thought for sure we were some place in Italy instead of in the heart of NYC. I have recommended this restaurant to many people and I have yet to have anyone dissatisfied. Unique atmosphere 10/8/2009

I had dinner in Luce two days ago with a friend who recommended it. I've been to a lot of restaurants in Italy and I have to say this one comes pretty close. The friendly staff, and just the warm atmosphere in it, made the lunch quite enjoyable. I'm pretty sure that next week I'll be going there with my girlfriend :) Pros: good service, great wine, and even better food more
