I really wasn't impressed with the catfish sandwich. It was to soft and not tasty at all. Otherwise, I love their food. more

Love the restaurant, but their delivery shows how little they care for their customers. It's carelessly and quickly put together, and then is very delayed in arriving! I will never order from them again. more

Great for locals and visitors 8/27/2011

I go to Kitchenette all the time. Visitors go on the weekends for Brunch, which is traditional, delicious and has long lines. Locals go at 3 pm with their kids for cookies, which are also delicious, or for early dinners. I really do think I have eaten most things on their menu, (I live 3 doors up) and their macaroni and cheese is to die for, their shepherds’ pie great, their burgers juicy. They are lively, fun, great cakes, fab milkshakes (I usually stick with Vanilla, though the coffee one is also excellent) and nice staff. They are very kid friends, not so stroller friendly (it's too small for open strollers they make you leave them outside or fold up at the front, you can't have them open near the table) I'm a regular, and I bump into neighborhood folk there all the time. It's a lovely local space. more

busy, charming, quirky place 11/2/2010

I'm not just a regular, I'm there practically every day. I'm really suprised at some of the reviews here, esp about the cakes. We eat those cakes all the time and they are seriously delicious and evil and never stale, ditto the cookies. (do not go there to lose weight, though their salads and soups are great, the cake display is very seductive) I love their biscuits and eggs, and order their breakfast special often. We also eat their burgers and get their chicken delivered. I also love their beef chili, less so the turkey, but that's more about turkey than Kitchenette... I find the service really friendly, the food great and the atmosphere adorable more

Good Food, BIG ROACH! 3/29/2010

I was dining there with my fiance this morning and we enjoyed a nice breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, grits, biscuits, you name it. Unfortunately just as we finished our meal, along side our wall (sitting at a small table next to the wall) a roach about 2.5 inches long is crawling up along the wall. My fiance screamed and I jumped as I saw the huge creature, which did not run or jump, it walked very slowly. It was quite a scene, but it just made us think about what we didn't see, and what we ate. Pros: Nice Portions, Nice Diner menu Cons: Bugs more

What happened? 3/22/2010

My kids miss the funny lady . Things just aren't the same. We will not be doing our birthday party there this year! The guy that's there does not like kids..This used to be a real kid friendly place. Food was good but not worth the attitude or the price. more

Where is the old Kitchenette? 2/28/2010

In a recent winter time in NYC we decide to order couple times from Kitchenette, our favorite place from the time we live in Tribeca from 1999 to 2004. But what happen? The restaurant not only moved from his original spot on WBroadway ,but seems like everything is changed. Most their signature dishs, like the Lemon Chicken, is less than a half in size that used to be, the cakes (we try 4) are dry and tasted old every single time and even the service and the staff looks to be change to worst. Where is that nice girl who used to take our orders from the phone every night? Where is that amazing brazilian guy who from about 5 years ?always? delivery our food hot and perfect? Where is the old Kitchenette? We realy miss that place... more

Awful Food, Awful Attitude 1/18/2010

The place may specialize in comfort food, but they do things their own way; and if you don't like it, that's your problem. The people at Kitchenette surely do not subscribe to the theory that the customer is always right. Menu items often do not fit the descriptions, but don't take issue with it, because if you complain their response will simply be "that's how we do it here." C'mon Kitchenette, it's not like you have Thomas Keller in the kitchen putting his spin on things. Make the food the way the diner expects it. Oh--and it's overpriced. more

Very disappointed 7/6/2009

I'd heard great things about Kitchenette, but when my husband and I went there for breakfast a couple weeks ago, it was a huge let down. I ordered a waffle, and it was practically inedible. I didn't even eat a quarter of it, just ate the fruit off the top. Fortunately, I wasn't that hungry. My husband said his omelet was good, but the biscuit wasn't, and the peanut butter cookie we bought for a snack later was fine, but the waffle was soooo bad that I will never go back. Maybe the intern messed up the batter or someone was having a bad day, but they should be ashamed of the food they served me. more

Restaurants have egos, who knew? 4/23/2009

Living uptown, its hard to find a great brunch place. So when I went to kitchenette the first time, i really enjoyed it, but it was a slow day. I've been back on Sunday and let me tell you it can be a nightmare. 1) not all the tables are made to be eaten at so if you get a bad one youÂ?re screwed. 2) They fill that place up to the max and its surely a fire hazard and it makes eating a lil odd when you are seated closely to strangers. Lastly, the waiter takes your order and you often donÂ?t see him until your bill. That is my biggest pet peve! So much like the ppl above the service is def lacking, not in manners but in presence. If they could fix that, it would help! I get that they want to make as much money as possible in this economy, but squishing us all in there isnÂ?t a good thing. Take it for what its worth. i do love the sausage! more

Reminds me of Hansel and Gretel 3/8/2009

This place reminds me of the story Hansel and Gretel because the food is fairly good (if overpriced) but the owner is like the old lady in the story--bring your kids in and she snarls at them. She was just plain rude to my kids, telling them to get out of her way! Frankly who cares about the food when the experience is such that your kids are afraid to go back? The kids are now calling it "Bitchenette!" more

Not what it used to be 2/25/2009

I had breakfast at Kitchenette (Tribeca location) a few years ago and remember the food being great and the portions being so large I could barely finish my meal. Today, I ignored the chance to have a full, complementary breakfast at my hotel and hoofed it down to Kitchenette for another visit. Wow, what a disappointment. I ordered an omelette with potatoes and a biscuit and when the food arrived I almost cried. Although it was still tasty, the portions were ridiculously small. I'm a big guy and wasn't expecting a plate fit for a sumo wrestler, but the child's plate was not what I had in mind. Making matters worse, the tab came to just under $14 and I noticed after I ordered they have a $5 special during the week that probably was as much food. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and will not return. No big loss, there are plenty of other little breakfast dives all over the city that deliver plenty of taste and value. Pros: tasty food Cons: small portions, expensive more

I am so disappointed...used to be one of my favorite Tribeca brunch/lunch spots but has gone downhill...was there on New Year's Eve and was treated poorly by staff, food was so average and tastless 1/4/2009

a huge let down...they got 2 of our orders wrong and whomever delivered the food was so rude when this was pointed out, we were afraid she was going to defile our new (correct) orders...sad to say, I won't be recommending or returning any more - Walkers, Greenwich St Tavern are both far superior - even Bubby's is much better and Kitchenette used to be a far superior... Pros: chili, french toast Cons: rude, crowded, tasteless more

Kitchenette 11/3/2008

Down home cooking with Big City prices. Once you get over the price shock you will love Kitchenette. The food tastes as good as your childhood memories of your favorite meal. In fact its probably better. The tables look like sawed down doors. The service is friendly and the food is served in hearty portions. more

I have faithfully ordered from Kitchenette for quite some time now - and every single time they do not provide salad dressing - that is truly unacceptable...do i have to stop ordering from Kitchenette? Can you correct this somehow? thank you. more
