Went back for the second time. The first time it was crazy busy so we chalked the mediocre food and horrendous service up to an off night. Second time we went it was pretty dead, ...

Good spot 2/17/2012

This is a fun, hip spot to pop into to have lunch while shopping in the Soho area. Food isn't any better than other asian restaurants, but you get a clean, stylish restaurant to eat in. Love their bi bim bop! more

A Little bit of Everything 2/10/2010

I have been coming here for years. Just love the food. I've had huge bday parties or just intimate more personal dinners with friends many times. Lunch time it's similar to when you order on the streets in Asia... you order and they scream at you when it's done... except I know they washed the dishes here. def. try the malaysian or bangkok curry noodles or the duck broth with duck and wontons. Dinner time it's dim lighting. sometimes too dark. BUT I love the duck salad, scallion pancakes, and s&p shrimp (even though they fry it with the shell ~ eat it while it's hot), bulgogui, ribs, tamarind duck, massaman curry is good, but I liked it with the chicken and avacado, love the chicken with this papaya salad. cocktails are really good too. I pretty much love everything. the only thing is the kitchen is opened so the smell of food kind of lingers in my hair, but a spray of perfume usually gets rid of it. one time I went out and this guy said... you smell like food and making me hungry!!!! hahaha oh, and there's only one bathroom... sooo wait in line... def makes sure you lock the door. I'm not sure if they fixed it, but I always open the door on someone... can't get enough of this place. Pros: it's tasty and they can change dishes to vegetarian Cons: 1 bathroom? more

This Place Saved Super Bowl Night! 2/9/2010

This past Sunday, late and hungry, I had to get some snacks for a SuperBowl Party. While walking down my friend's street looking for a place to buy pizza, I saw this place. If it weren't for my previous PARTY commitment, I'd have stayed the night for another hot toddy, beer and whatever great GIANT bowl of soup the bartender picked for me. Something with the word Malasya in it. It warmed me up while I waited for the AWESOME scallion pancakes and spring rolls I took to the party. The Saints were not the only ones to score that night. Pros: Great Spring Rolls and Awesome Soup more

worst food ever 1/18/2010

I just have to say for the price, this is about the worst Asian food I ever had in my life. The dumplings were ALL dumpling and a sliver of shrimp inside... and their pricey calamari salad was a small bowl of lettuce with some sliver of carrots, drenched in dressing, and some small overcooked fried gross calamari. I am completely amazed that this place was busy, thinking the location is what is saving this establishment from utter ruin. One word: YUK! Pros: best SoHo location, cool casual ambience Cons: worst food ever more

Great place for large groups. 9/26/2008

Had dinner on a Saturday night with a group of about 10 people. We were seated right away and drink orders were taken immediately. Our group shared about 15 dishes in total and it was the perfect amount of food for everyone. Wine menu was limited but well chosen, and their cocktails were that lethal combination of tasty and potent. The best thing about Kelley and Ping was the excellent service. Our food arrived quickly and our glasses were never empty yet we never felt rushed and were perfectly comfortable lingering over our after dinner drinks. We would definitely go there again! Pros: Excellent service, wonderful drinks Cons: Limited wine selection more

Not the best, but not the worst 5/24/2008

This place isn't amazing, but by all means not as bad as the reviews portray it. I can't help but say that their Vietnamese noodles are some of my favorite. Always filling, generally quick delivery, reasonable prices. Their pad thai, on the other hand, is unusually disgusting. Pros: Vietnamese Noodles Cons: Pad Thai more

Only for people who want a lame restaurant 5/24/2008

Asian food is my forte. This place does not serve it. It had its time 10 years ago, and it has passed. Cons: Where do I begin. Truly horrible experience. more

Gross and very strange tasting ""food"" 4/12/2008

Don't waste your calories, time or money. Three of us went there last night and should have been suspicious that there was no wait at 8pm on Friday night. We ordered the sampler appetizer plate - which was fine, boring, but nothing wrong with it. Then we each ordered an entre - a chicken dish which was supposed to have broccoli but only had a few stems, it tasted like chinese food not thai food and might have had msg given the headache it gave my friend - a veggie pad thai in which the noodles were undercooked and the flavor was so bizarre it might have had fake maple syrup in it- and a red curry in banana leaf which also had a very strange flavor I have never had before and never want to have again, red curry flavor was no where to be found. I don't blame the waiter, he was new and clueless but the horrible food wasn't his fault. I have no idea what is going on in that kitchen but I can promise you I will not be going back! YUCK! Cons: food more

lousy 2/13/2008

I've been twice. The first time around it was ok (somewhat soggy noodles). The second time however it was so bad I haven't been back since. Totally crowded, overworked woman at the counter, they lost my order. 15 minutes after placing my order I went up asking about it- they didn't even apologize for losing it and another 10 minutes I finally got my lousy SOUP!! it was a SOUP, broth and noodles in a cup for $9, sorry, I will go to Cafe Duke's for cheaper and better noodle soup that actually has vegetables in it! Cons: not worth the price and not fast at all more

Yum! Good prices, great food! 6/20/2007

I went here last year with a couple of friends after the place being recommended to me. We loved it! the 3 of us were able to eat just fine on 1 large and 1 small combo plate which was just delish! The place is small and a bit crowded but the atmosphere is awesome...although it is very dark. Would make for a romantic little dinner if in the area. In fact, i might be going back with my boyfriend today! I can't wait to go back, i loved their food and the prices are really affordable! Pros: Great price, ambience, food! Cons: can be very crowded, tiny place more

Cold blah and pre-fab 1/7/2007

Went back for the second time. The first time it was crazy busy so we chalked the mediocre food and horrendous service up to an off night. Second time we went it was pretty dead, but it still took forever for our dumplings to come out, cold on the inside! Entrees were pretty uninteresting. Waitstaff all seemed disgruntled. Wouldn't recommend it. Pros: location and decor Cons: food, service more

Finger Licking Good 11/17/2006

Although I don't consider it authentic Asian, the food at Kelley & Ping is tough to beat and priced really well. The only down side is waiting for a table.... Oh well, theres always take out... Pros: Pad Thai Cons: Never enough seats more

rude encounters 8/12/2006

I had a friend that raved about how this restaurant was his favorite and how I NEED to go check it out when I'm in New York.. ... I may never speak to this person again and his crediibility has been thrown out the window because of the following: Cons: rude staff & room temperature flavorless food more

Loved It Loved It 6/11/2006

Great Food. Rock'n Cocktail List (be sure to go M-F 5:30 - 7:30 double your pleasure with happy hour 2 for 1) have the blueberry mojito or the coconut martini. Hot freindly staff. Fun night crowd or sneak in during the dy for something quick. I love it here. Pros: great food, great drinks, great service Cons: can't always get a seat during the day more

Good food, but a little snobby 11/8/2005

Loved the Malaysian Curry Noodles and the Small Plate Combo. Food was good and relatively quick. A little pricey and our waiter was definitely not impressed with us (I guess we just weren't cool enough for him). They let us hang out for a long time after our meal was done, which was nice. I would go back, but I wouldn't expect to be treated like family. Pros: good food, quick seating and ser Cons: limited menu, snobby waiter more

Favourite 10/27/2005

As a Londoner whose family have all immigrated to the city, Kelley Ping is the first place I visit for lunch whenever I return to NYC. It is a gem, and reminiscent of Thailand's Street Stalls - only more civilised. The food is of the same standard. If you want a quick, cheap and delicious lunch - as well as healthy... come to Kelley Ping. Pros: Quick, Delicious, Healthy Cons: Better for Lunch, Not romantic! more

trendy place 9/22/2005

nice place - food not awsome - but a cool place to go. more

trendy and great value 6/27/2005

The Dak Bulgogi (Korean Grilled Chicken) was great, and most of the items on the menu were very savory @ inexpensive prices. (not the pad thai though) The drink list was comprehensive (including cocktails, margarita, and sakes) and I highly recommend the Strawberry and Pineapple cocktail plus the last sake on the list. The decor was not extravagant but rather authenticly cozy and intimate. Good for large groups as well as romantic dates. Pros: food and drinks, ambience, food price Cons: drink prices more

Vietnamese ravioli! 6/26/2005

Even people who don't like Asian food will love this restaurant. Ther is not one thing I have tried that is less than excellent on this menu. more

Fun pan-asian post-film spot! 4/13/2005

I've been going to Kelley and Ping for years. The lemongrass chicken is incredible. The prices haven't changed much, neither has the large space, and I keep coming back again and again... Pros: Huge space, Good food, cheap eats Cons: Trendy crowd, Feel a bit rushed more
