Unbelievable Chinese food at an affordable price. The store is located in the heart of Chinatown on Mott St. Prices are equivalent to that of a McDonalds. Two can eat great food for just about $20.00. Highly recommended from someone who sees themselves as a conuesser of Chinese restaurants in the NY Metropolitan area.

I have been coming to Joes for years now. Since the 1997 issue of best of New York, in New York magazine to be exact. I guess it's safe to say I'm a regular.
I frequent the Flushing location but have been to them all. Pell street is not my favorite. I feel that this location is dirtier, and more hectic than Flushing; BUT and there's a big but. The food at either of the two locations is fantastic!
Any of teh steamed buns are great to start pork or crab, both fantastic, I would order both!
Scallion pancakes are greasy delights!
Wonton soup with chives and shrimp dumplings, add some of teh sauce from the steamed buns (adds a nice flavor).
next the minced pork noodle ( noodles wiht a spicy minced pork sauce) and/ or the shanghai fried flat noodle (the can make this with seafood too, although I am a fan of the pork version).
look out for a special off the menu, teh general taos (with white meat, make sure you specify that), dried sauted shreded beef (spicy beeff with shredded carrots, scallions, and celery all ), or the jumbo crispy prawns shell off (shelled prawns in a spicy meat sauce) are all favs.
Also must have is the shrimp fried rice, the put tons of huge shrimp in there, not those wimpy lil guys or chopped shrimp! Man,, i'm getting hungry.. at this time the only place i can go now is Wo Hop... dont get me started there for some real old school fast food style chinese 24 hours!!!
SICKKK
Pros: Reasonable prices, great food
Cons: not enough space in your stomach

Love this place!!! So glad I found a place in the lower eastside that serves good chinese food. Sesame beef is to die for!!! The decor in the place blew my mind, you totally wouldn't expect it from the outside. Downstairs there is two dance floors with two different DJ's, both spinning good, classic music. This place was great, top to bottom. Highly recommended!!!
Pros: Food, decor, music

I have eaten all over Chinatown before & this is one of my favorite places. It's great because it's not in the heart of Chinatown so it's much easier to find parking. There's usually a wait around dinner time if you come in a large group, but it's not so bad if there's only 2-3 of you. They can definitely accommodate large groups as well since the place is pretty spacious. They have a high turnover rate for food, so you know it's fresh and it also comes out fast as well. I've never eaten anything I didn't like at Congee Village. The place is cleaner than most Asian restaurants I've been to in Chinatown as well.
Pros: Fast service, Good tasty food, Big space
Cons: None

The culture is interesting - Shared tables. You come in by yourself and they seat you with others.
The food is very tasty. I liked the pork dumplings a lot. They also had some unusual soups and bean dishes.
The fried fish I had was very tasty as well. The cold sesame noodles were also very nice.
I always take my friends and relatives from out of town there whenever they are in the city.
Pros: Great food - Low prices - Definitely real china town chinese food
Cons: I went off my diet - the dining is casual so its fine for everyday but not a dress up place

If you're looking to get away from other areas of Manhattan then this is the place to be. The food is great although it's more appropriate for snacking more than anything else. They have great beers on tap along with an extensive cocktail list. Prices are reasonable and service is quick.
Pros: Good music, service, food and drinks
Cons: It might get kind of cramped if you go with a large group

I have been eating at Big Wong since the mid 90's and the quality has not changed a bit. It is a hole in the wall but inside this hole is some of the most amazing food. First and foremost is the roast pork and roast duck. They are mind-bogglingly good, really. I wept openly the first time I had their roast pork it was so good. Next is the congee and their wonton mein which are fantastic. Very authentic dishes throughout the menu. Service can be difficult. If you miss the waiter's eye on the first pass it may be a while because the place is always packed. If you go as a single or double you may be seated next to another person or couple which in my opinion is a benefit. This is one of my favorite places in the world. Oh, try the fried cruller rice crepe. You won't be disappointed.
Pros: roast pork, roast duck, congee wonton mein all incredible
Cons: zero atmosphere and challenging service

I love Indian-Chinese and it's hard to find the real deal - typically have to head over to Edison, NJ. Chinese Mirch is great, and a lot easier to get to.
I'm confused by all the one star reviews - either this place is very erratic (possible - only been once so far, though expect to go back often!) or something else is going on (e.g., if you aren't into really spicy, or are totally used to "regular" Indian or "regular" Chinese, this place will seem odd and disorientating.
Pros: Very spicy, very tasty, good ingredients, great cocktails
Cons: Had to wait a while for a table! Limited wine list
