Good 9/16/2010

I would say the staff is better then most spas however, watch your time. I paid for the signature facial but did not receive any of the massages that were suppose to be included and it ended 10mins earlier than what I paid for. Despite my one complaint I would go back again, this time wiser. more

Truly Pampered and Out of this World!!! 9/10/2010

If you are looking for a place to fully pamper yourself, look no further, Iguazu Day Spa is your place!!! From the moment I walked in, I was met with exceptionally good service and felt as though I was transported to someplace other than the concrete jungle of NYC. Fabian, the manager, made it so the entire experience far surpassed even my very high expections, from the time I booked the appointment until the time I walked out. In preparation for running in my first 1/2 marathon, Rudy's deep tissue sports massage was the trick of the day for my soar and overworked muscles. He was great about asking what pressure I preferred and if I wanted to incorporate stretching into the massage. I then had the Signature Facial with Virginia. As someone who is trying to take better care of my skin, Virginia custom made my facial to meet all the needs of my skin. She made the peels and scrubs right then and there so they were so fresh and took the time at end of the facial to teach me about what I could do on my own to continue to improve my skin. I have visited many spas throughout NYC, Miami, AC, and Vegas, and this far surpassed any previous spa outing that i have been on. Worth every penny! Can't wait to go back! more

true oasis in the heart of west soho/hudson square 6/7/2010

just floated back home from an amazing massage with Jose....he has magic hands and a keen understanding of the body. Professional, calm, peaceful yet completely therapeutic (which is what i needed) - i will be back again and again. A real gem in the neighborhood. more

Two Weeks Later, Pedicure still going strong 5/10/2010

a couple weeks ago i booked a mani pedi that i had bought on one of those deal websites. the day of my appointment the manicurist was running behind and the man at the front desk was really accommodating and apologetic because of it. everyone who worked there was really friendly and conversational. i also think that the manicurist did a great job. it was soothing and relaxing, and my nails looked great. even now, two weeks later, my pedicure is unchipped and as shiny as new, and i wear open toed sandals everywhere. i highly recommend this place. Pros: friendly staff, excellent services more

Best facial and great products to go along with it... 4/20/2010

I received many facials in the past but they always left me with a red face and disappointing results. Little did I know, I actually had nothing to worry about at Iguazu day Spa because the woman doing my facial knew exactly what she was doing and used excellent products meanwhile giving me useful tips on how to treat my skin on a daily basis. After 60 minute of relaxation including a neck, arm and foot massage I felt relieved from all my stress. Most of all, it left my skin looking better than ever and saw even more results after-wards. The spa manager was not only knowledgeable enough to advise me on which facial to choose from but also showed me some of their featured products to use to help me get my skin back to look its best. I felt obligated to write about my experience as it was an excellent one. Thank you Iguazu and you will see me regularly when i come up to New York. Note: Starbucks, Chase bank, restaurants and a pharmacy are all in the same area, great to spend an afternoon in the city and get it all done. Pros: The location, the services and the staff. Cons: Absolutely nothing. more

frequent visitor 3/17/2010

I have been going to Iguazu Spa several times since they opened a couple of years ago and i must say that I have never been disappointed by the services they provide ( ive tried a few therapists) The atmosfere is also very friendly and inviting and the reception staff always polite and friendly. i am also a world traveler (go to spa worldwide) and I am positive when I say that the quality of their massage is absolutely amazing . I see a few bad reviews and I am wondering why so much hatred but I guess everyone has their own standards or that jealousy makes people talk . In any case they definitely earn my business and loyalty and that's a fact . more

Great spa 3/14/2010

I actually like this spa, i had a deep tissue massage and i felt the difference immediately. I took my grandma for a hot stone massage and she loved it. She has arthritis and was kind of scared but she said he was soo gentle with her and actually gave her quite a relief from the pain. I also like that fact he made conversation with her regarding her conditions and what would she prefer. I also forgot my earrings a realized it was too late but I called and left a message. i received a call back the next morning @ 10 stating they had the earrings and it would be left @ the front desk, which I thought was very thoughtful because I didnt need to give another call more

I had a very nice experience 3/10/2010

i went to this spa yesterday for the 1st time upon recommendation . I had heard from a friend that their massages are really unique . Boy ! i wasn't disappointed . The spa was very quiet which i really liked and there's definitely a feel of serenity upon entering. I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist and was offered tea/ water ... When my masseur was ready he took me upstairs of the spa where there is a quaint lounging area with 4 treatment rooms My therapist asked me a few questions before proceeding. When he started the massage then I understood i was in good hands. The flow of the massage was continuous and just perfect. The music was also different from any other spa ive been to and created a new dimension to my relaxation. I enjoyed every minute of it. When the massage ended i was told to take my time and if i didnt listen to myself I could've stayed there for a while. I will definitely be back. Pros: great massage Cons: remote location more

Not Worth It 3/10/2010

I went to this spa because of Spa Finders Deal Days. Alas, I didn’t have a good visit and won’t be back. Upon arrival, I thought I'd be offered a robe and slippers and shown the relaxation area. That didn't happen. Instead, the man at the front desk began by telling me, "All services under the Spa Finders Deal Days specials are cash only." That was a problem because I meant to pay with my debit card. I asked if he knew a Citibank nearby and he did look one up for me. There are no locker rooms; you change in the massage room. Even though it was now 5pm the room was still not ready. When I went upstairs, I was greeted by a male therapist. Oops, new problem. When I booked my appointment I wrote my preference for a female. The therapist went downstairs and the guy from the front desk came up to talk to me, but only to say there was nothing they could do about it. It was now 5:10pm. The room was cold and the massage so-so and painful at times. When doing deep tissue, men just don't know their own strength, even when you tell them to ease up. He massaged my back and my feet, with just a few strokes on my legs. To my surprise, he said "Take your time getting up" and it was DONE without me ever turning over. Worse yet, it was only 40 minutes! The massage started LATE, it should have ended at 6pm, but when I looked at my watch it was 5:50pm. NOT COOL. The man from the front desk asked how it was and I let him know I did NOT get my full 50 minutes. No response. He brought me to a Bathroom/Shower/Sauna combo area, all in one room so it can only be used by ONE person at a time. Good thing they weren’t busy. The sauna is TINY. You can't lie down and even sitting up was tight as I am 6 feet tall. It also took a while to get hot; I was in over 15 minutes before I broke a sweat. There are no bins for used towels/robes, so I left them by the sink. When I went to pay, the front desk guy kindly let me use my debit card instead of schlepping to the bank. I asked was it normal to only have one side massaged and he said yes. Only during the longer massage sessions, 85 minutes, will you get both sides. Finally, I had to ask for water because no one had offered me any since my massage. I had a thermos of ice with me to take into the sauna, which was lucky because he gave me a bottle of water out of a cabinet and it was warm. Pros: I was allowed to use my debit card instead of cash. Cons: EVERYTHING ELSE; Awkward space & SO-SO service & massage more

Not Worth It, Even On Sale 3/9/2010

PROS: The front desk was nice enough to let me use my debit card. CONS: EVERYTHING ELSE. One should not be surprised by the cash-only requirement upon walking in, the layout is awkward and small, the massage was so-so, the room was cold, the sauna tiny and no water offered afterward. I went to this spa because of Spa Finders Deal Days. Alas, I didn’t have a good visit and won’t be back. Best Mani/Pedi 2/20/2010

I took advantage of the "$50 and under special" through Time Out NY and was pleasantly surprised. My technician, Virginia, was so nice and professional. It's one of the few times I have had wax done and not broken out... she even suggested chamomile to reduce redness. I was already impressed and then the mani/pedi was sheer perfection. The facilities are very clean... a relief here in NYC. Virginia paid attention to every detail and was extremely thorough. My nails look amazing, feel strong and my cuticles have never looked healthier. Amazing job. The regular price for mani/pedi may be more than I am used to paying, but I have learned it is well worth it when you want quality service and treatment! I will be visiting Virginia soon ; ) Pros: Knowlegeable, Clean and Friendly Cons: None more

Great for couples 2/18/2010

I booked a couples massage and facial for Valentine's Day. We waited an hour but the owner was incredibly nice and serviceable, offering us champagne and juice and water. The atmosphere was lovely and the massages were by far the best we ever had. The facials were good too. We really enjoyed our evening here, although, truth be told, it was definitely a bit too expensive. Pros: AMAZING massages and great service Cons: Space is a bit small more

best massage at this place 8/2/2009

I was screening places to use my Spa Finder certificate that i received and I gave a try too this place. I received an absolutely amazing massage. from the softness of the sheet to the relaxing music and of course the therapist' hands i fell like i had a real experience. I get massage frequently and i could tell the masseur was really into massaging. the strokes were smooth yet firm enough. the pressure gradually increased throughout the massage and all my knots were erased by the end of the session. I am definitely looking forward to my next visit more

best bachelorette / birthday spa party 6/11/2009

After carefully reading reviews and screening some spas we decided to opt for this one . My friend was turning 40 and getting married so we decided to make it a whole spa day ! We not only received the best possible service but the atmosphere of the spa was simply superb. Not one detail was left aside at this place . I usually find it hard to relax and I caught myself falling asleep at some point. The technicians were perfectly skilled , able to answer any question regarding treatments and results . We all received the best spa experience ever and I couldn't leave without writing a well-deserved review. Thank you again for making her day so special !! Pros: unbelievably skilled staff Cons: n/a more

"I stop by this spa while i was shopping in Soho and to my surprise i received the best Deep-tissue massage i have ever got... super friendly staff ( but that's not enough to impress me) the massage itself was just perfect. My therapist erased all the knots I had on my back and in my calves and 2 days later i felt like a new person ! Also i really liked the heated mattress and the music was great !! i would definitely recommend this spa and im looking forward to my next visit there!" ahhhhhhhhh! 2/5/2009

I had a massage, ...a wonderful beating really! A wonderful, productive, stimulating, relaxing bamboo massage! Fabian, the owner, was simply amazing! He made sure I was taken care of. He was patient, explaining all the treatments, working with me to discover exactly what I needed. It was bliss! Very professional, top notch spa! The actual space is beautiful too! I need to hire whoever it was that designed that space!! LOL! doubt that I could afford it though! Check this place out, you won't be disappointed! Pros: The skilled massage therapists, The ambiance, the overall experience.... Cons: NONE! more

Awesome Deep Tissue Massage, Average for everything else 11/24/2008

I had my first Deep Tissue massage at Iguazu which put me in Cloud 9 & relieved so much built-up stress in my body (it was well worth the pain!). The only thing was the massage table was not set up how i'm used to where you slip under the sheets (like a comfy bed) - its just a regular table w. a flat sheet or towel to lay on top of and then a small bath towel to cover you. I thought it was a little strange being that everything else was top of the line & the spa itself was a very beautiful & relaxing loft space. Maybe that's what they do for Deep Tissue? I also had a manicure & pedicure and was not too happy compared to other places I've gone to (and for a lot cheaper). The shower & Keihl's products are nice to use after. The overall experience was good. more

Effective treatments and a warm vibe inspired by the South American rainforest.

Editorial
  • In Short
Iguazu pays tribute to the famous Brazilian-Argentinean waterfalls of the same name with a menu of South American-inspired treatments. Massages like the Tiki Swedish and South American Beat mix it up with unique techniques and rhythmic music, while the blissful--and results-oriented--75-minute Pachamama is a customized rub-down using five different modalities. Facials target a variety of skin concerns with Naturopathica products; spa mani/pedis are sweetly scented with lavender or eucalyptus paraffin; and body scrubs feature ingredients like bamboo, lemongrass, coconut and brown sugar. A two-chair hair salon (by appointment only) and small sauna round out the intimate facilities.

Hits: Boasting beautiful Brazilian walnut floors, an ocean-blue decor and funky jellyfish-ish light fixtures, the low-key spa works for both women and men.

    Misses:
Though treatments yield results, prices are a little high for the area and amenity-level.
