Best

Good should be called "Great," seriously. Been here twice, once for brunch and once for dinner, both times...

Worst

I'm surprised how many people loved Good -- we were a bit disappointed at brunch. The bread basket was the best food we were served--home made donuts, scones, etc. Everyone at t...

Horrible management and service 9/20/2009

They charged a $3/person cutting cake fee. They NEVER mentioned it on the menu or in person. They just slapped the $24 charge onto the bill and expected it to be paid. The cutting cake fee cost more than the cake!! Manager was an a$$ and wouldn't take off the ridiculous charge that was NEVER mentioned! Was rude and unfriendly. Food was not spectacular and the portions were small. Food was priced in the higher $20's and $10+ for a salad. Will never go there again!! Do not recommend. Should be named BAD restaurant. Cons: Worst manager and service ever. Horrible food and expensive! more

Good but not great. 8/14/2009

Went today with a friend for lunch. We both ordered the mixed greens salad with pears and pecans. I ordered the large size as opposed to the smaller one (appetizer size). It was not worth the steep $12.00 price for what you receive. I'm afraid to see what the smaller plate looks like. It was good but way overpriced for what I received. Pros: Nice location Cons: Overpriced more

cozy place.. 10/15/2008

Ah Good Restaurant. Solid four. Big prices, big portions. I really like the atmosphere and the nice size of the restaurant. I wouldn't necessarily go back unless I lived close. Everything we got was very tasty: good salads, yummy fries (if you like them thin), really good ribs, delicious soup. I'd say its a good place to take your parents for a decent diner. I would recommend to anyone. more

Good For Lunch... 10/7/2008

I went to the Good two weeks ago, for a business lunch. It was very good, the food was fresh and plated very nice as well. The grilled salmon was excellent and the St Louis Pork Libs were to die for! The only negative comment I have is that it took the wait staff a long time to take our orders but overall we all had a great experience here. I would definately recommend this establishment! Pros: food, ambiance Cons: staff slow more

Just Good 9/17/2008

The food was inconsistent - we tried the specials and loved them both - but ordered some things off the menu that didn't live up to the descriptions. Someone in the kitchen has some talent, but it doesn't seem like they can really show their stuff on the menu.\r \r Timing was very off - 20min + between each course. Overall - just good, not great. Pros: some interesting specials Cons: managment team seems to get in servers way more

Good. . .and nothing more 12/15/2007

Been here twice. The service was the highlight both times. Very friendly, attentive waiters. The food is good, but very forgettable. The crowd both times was nauseatingly yuppy. Pros: The Serivce Cons: The Price more

What happened to this place? 10/9/2007

Went here a few years ago for brunch and I remembered that it was good so I decided to go back and give it another try. My experience was so disappointing that I wont be returning. I got the egg sandwich which was so bland and they stuffed it with so much egg and a think slice of tomatoe that the whole sandwich fell apart. Needless to say this meal was not worth 18 dollars and I will never return. more

Not good enough 7/5/2007

My boyfriend and I went for brunch on a saturday on our second attempt. This place gets packed quickly since its a very small space. I had a veggie omlette which was very fresh and tasty. Unfortunately everything else on my plate was awful: Organic lettuce w/out dressing, $5 dry brittle looking chicken sausages, and what looked like worn out potatoes..The brunch drinks were great but the whole experience was definitely not good enough to go back for.. Expect to be rushed out and ignored by staff. Pros: Drinks Cons: Everything else! more

good bloody marys 4/29/2007

it seems like a great place to have brunch, everything seemed great until after our order was placed. The wait staff was great with filling up the coffee mug and water glass. They were never empty, but the food did not come out in a timely fashion. There were people who sat down after us or even the same time and were paying there bill when our food was coming out. All we had ordered were 2 egg brunch dishes, with a side dish. I will say the bloody mary was good, but not worth the price. Pros: very clean Cons: over priced for the service more

not so good. just ok 3/21/2007

I had lunch here because i work nearby. $10 for soup + entree sounded like a good deal so i decided to bring a freind and give it a try. The place wasn't busy at all and lacked life and atmosphere. I had the potato/mushroom/celery root soup and the pulled pork sandwich. They gave a huge serving of pork. The soup was good. nothing to write home about, The sandwich was also good. Again, nothing crazy. It's ok for $10 i guess but i don't think i'll ever come back. Pros: lunch deal Cons: so-so food, dead atmosphere more

Brunch prices went up! 3/4/2007

As a long time resident of the neighborhood, I've frequented good for many brunches since they opened. I was shocked after not having been there for about 8 months to discover how much their prices had been raised! The breakfast burrito is now over $12 and the sandwiches were around $15. It just seems way too expensive... it's a shame because I've always loved the food, service and atmosphere, but I'll definitely think twice about eating there again. I hope this isn't a reflection on the changing face of the neighborhood, but I'm afraid it may be... more

Good is an understatement. 11/8/2006

Time for this place to change its name to Sublime. This is the third time we have eaten there in a year and it is just perfect. The Frozen Blackberry Vodka Julep is addictive, the service is gracious and the food? It's beyond wonderful. Fresh, inventive and plentiful. If only they all were this ""good"". Pros: It's all GOOD! more

Wonderful Brunch 9/1/2006

Came here on a Saturday around noon with my friend. Barely beat the crowd that came in at 12:30ish.\r \r Solid breakfast food - the winner was the vanilla buttermilk pancakes. Pros: Diverse menu Cons: Cramped space more

I have loved this place for years! 7/30/2006

I have been eating here pretty regularly for several years now and can say with confidence that it is among my very favorite restaurants in the city. The atmosphere of Good is unpretentious yet lovely and the food is consistently outstanding and inventive. \r \r This is a great place for a sophisticated, romantic meal (try an appetizer and entree, I recommend the bruschetta and the molasses glazed tuna- but make sure to save room for banana chocolate chip bread pudding), but it is also conducive to a casual meal- they have tasty burgers and spicy mac and cheese! In either case, you must try one of their specialty cocktails- they're not cheap ($10), but are made with fresh ingredients and are absolutely delicious. I recommend the frozen blackberry vodka julep for a hot summer day.\r \r BY THE WAY, go early for dinner (before 7) and you can try an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert for $25. For the quality of the food, you won't find a better deal.\r \r Brunch is tasty too- the atmosphere is far more casual and the pace is much faster. Be prepared to wait alongside much of the neighborhood.\r \r \r Pros: Delicious food, friendly staff Cons: waits for brunch more

A Neighborhood Favorite 7/20/2006

We live in the neighborhood and eat dinner at good on a regular basis. The food is consistently delicious and inventive, the service is reliably friendly (if we want to sit and drink a cocktail before we order it's no problem, if we're in a rush we can get served quickly), and the atmosphere is adult and unpretentious. It's great for celebrating special occasions or for grabbing a quick burger. more

went there for brunch. service was excellent and the food was delicious. the stuffed french toast is highly recommended. Pros: food, service more

NOT JUST BRUNCH 7/14/2006

I went with three friends on a Friday night and we had a great experience. Being health consious I thought I might have a hard time (my friends always rave about the comfort food at Good). But there are lots of healthy choices--I had a tasty harvest salad and a salmon entree that was perfectly cooked and wasn't swimming in sauce. My friends had the pulled pork and the burgers--which they loved--and we all left happy. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious--a nice change from so many restaurants in Manhattan. Maybe brunch is great--I've never been--but dinner was so much more than I expected, especially for the price. Pros: great food, real value, lots of healthy choices Cons: could've used a larger table for all my sides..... more

Good is just ok. 4/17/2006

I was surprised that this restaurant was rated so high. The decor was mediocre and honestly, I can get a better ""brunch"" at a Cracker Barrel restaurant. The side order of ham was way overcooked and dried. I could barely cut it with the table knife. The toast was toasted like melba toast and burnt in some areas. What a disappointment Easter brunch was! Gosh! I don't think I will ever return to this place again. There are SO many other nicer places to go to in Manhattan. Pros: nice people Cons: slow in serving, overcooked food, no reservations more
