Don't know how we got in- apparently the word is out so this place is hot- but we had dinner at Freeman's back in its little alleyway in the Lower East side and it merits the hype. Small and very loud- we began our meal at 7:30pm by the time we left at 9:30 there were at least 30 people waiting to be seated- this dining room is uniquely packed with animal heads which gives it a bit of a hunting lodge feel. Small dishes can be shared or added to mains as accents- don't miss the mac and cheese, butternut squash with creme fraiche, and creamy mashed potatoes with truffle oil. The best main at our table was the trout! Make reservations on the early side or show up for a long wait.
