This is one of the first Equinox gyms to open in Manhattan, so it's not as fancy as the others. It has the same equipment however, and the staff and instructors are great. I go to Equinox gyms all over the country, but find 54th Street the friendliest of the Equinox family, superbly managed and no question ever goes unanswered. The guy I train with is a former gymnast and is incredibly knowledgeable about health and fitness. The gym is very crowded during prime time, and not much you can do about that, since that's the case with any good gym, especially one that is a ""corporate gym"" like 54th street because it's located near all of the midtown office towers. But weekends are great. There's nothing about Equinox at 54th Street I don't like. When I go out to LA, I use the Sunset Blvd gym, and my training sessions are fully transferable. The LA clubs are really fantastic (everyone is always in a good mood) and when I check in someone at the desk inevitably says, ""Hey, are you the guy from New York? How are you?"" Really blew me away...
Pros: Superbly managed, great instructors, knowledgable trainers
Cons: cost
