I really, really wanted to like Cafe Viva. I have been vegan for quite a few years and I am always in search of the perfect slice of vegan pizza. I just moved to the area and was delighted to stumbled across Cafe Viva, but was overall left feeling a little disappointed. The selection is marvelous, no complaints there. But the pizza? Their whole wheat crust was a mouth-full. A dry, flavorless, hard to chew mouth-full. I ordered a small whole wheat pie with no cheese, just sauce and zucchini. They charged me SIX DOLLARS for the zucchini, on top of the price of a regular small pie, plus an extra few bucks for the whole wheat. I could have bought a basket full of Zucchini for six dollars. To add insult to injury, there were only a few strips of zucchini littered here and there on my pie. You would think that cheese is a little more expensive than a little squash, therefore I find it appalling that I was charged almost twenty dollars for a tiny little pie when I could have gotten a regular old non-vegan version for half the price. It's an okay place, my boyfriend very much enjoys their non-vegan pizza but as far as I'm concerned their vegan options are just not worth the price.
