I really like Cafe Viva. I order from there frequently and I love their whole wheat pizza napoletana. Last time I ordered I got the pesto pizza which I think didn't deliver so well - it was a bit soggy and the cheese was tough - but it would probably be good in the restaurant. The delivery service is spotty - make sure to ask them what the wait time will be when you order. more

Expensive 7/10/2008

I really, really wanted to like Cafe Viva. I have been vegan for quite a few years and I am always in search of the perfect slice of vegan pizza. I just moved to the area and was delighted to stumbled across Cafe Viva, but was overall left feeling a little disappointed. The selection is marvelous, no complaints there. But the pizza? Their whole wheat crust was a mouth-full. A dry, flavorless, hard to chew mouth-full. I ordered a small whole wheat pie with no cheese, just sauce and zucchini. They charged me SIX DOLLARS for the zucchini, on top of the price of a regular small pie, plus an extra few bucks for the whole wheat. I could have bought a basket full of Zucchini for six dollars. To add insult to injury, there were only a few strips of zucchini littered here and there on my pie. You would think that cheese is a little more expensive than a little squash, therefore I find it appalling that I was charged almost twenty dollars for a tiny little pie when I could have gotten a regular old non-vegan version for half the price. It's an okay place, my boyfriend very much enjoys their non-vegan pizza but as far as I'm concerned their vegan options are just not worth the price. more

Very disappointed in Cafe Viva 3/8/2008

Really really bad experience ordering for delivery tonight. Pros: chocoate cake was tasty (but I am suspicious it's not Vegan as advertised) Cons: Manager ""Jimmy"" incredibly inept at customer service. Wow. more

Amazing Organic Cooking 3/4/2008

This UWS Italien is a godsent. Where else can you eat healthy, tasty, organic food for these modest prices? From salad, soup, pizza to pasta, everything is freshly prepared in front of your eyes, just like your mother or grandmother used to cook. Delivery is very quick without sacrificing quality. I recommend this place to everyone who is interested in eating wholesome food for decent prices and who isn't hung-up on fancy decor. Pros: healthy food, good prices, tastes like homemade by mother Cons: no ambiance more

great pasta sauce and whole wheat pizza 8/21/2007

I was just introduced to this place by a new beau who is a regular. He loves the pasta sauce because it is so fresh. I ordered the whole wheat pizza. Then we put the sauce on the pizza, and it was love. The next day, we went back and ordered two whole wheat pizzas with a bowl of sauce on the side. Yum. I was introduced to one of the cashiers Josh who was very friendly. We'll be back. Pros: great fresh pasta sauce, whole wheat pizza Cons: limited seating more

Good pizza, period. 7/29/2007

I'm not a veg or a vegan or kosher but we love this pizza. The plan is DHs favorite around and I life the veggie ones with the corn or smelt (don't know what it is but it tastes good). OK if you want meat, it's not the place to go but a great slice. We will try an order in next time. Pros: Pizza varieties more

Great pizzaz, rude worker peeps 4/7/2007

I love the variety of crusts and toppings. The soy cheeses are great, not rubbery at all. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, and I prefer the vegan pizzas here to any typical pizza around the city. The veggie lasagna is also excellent. The only downside about this place is the staff, especially the cashiers. They're rude and often mess up phone orders. The ambiance isn't great, so take-out and delivery are best. Pros: Soy sausage, veggie lasagna, pizzas Cons: Rude staff more
