Wondeful Food 3/23/2009

I took a girl out for a first date, and I couldn't have been happier with my decision to go to Bistro Ten 18. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was wonderful, my date was impressed with my choice of restaurant and we're going out again. Thanks Bistro Ten 18! Pros: great atmosphere, delicious food, attentive service Cons: none! more

NOT SO HOT 11/1/2008

VERY DISAPPOINTED, went here in the past and it was very good, went last night and it was a disaster. THe food took over an hour to come out, the portions where tiny, and the food was luke warm. They also charge midtown prices for a restaurant on 111 st. I probably won't be going back. more

I love This place 10/13/2008

Best Lunch Stop... 9/29/2008

Last minute lunch stop...dining room was packed but outdoor tables were available and weather was mild, so bonus. Ordered the Chicken Skewer Salad and have to say it was the best salad I can remember ever having! Service was great to top it off, so I can't wait for a return trip into the city during lunch. Pros: servers, outdoor sitting more

Seafoood always exceptional, great burger too. Great mixologist behind bar 8/27/2006

Recommended by a friend in the neighb; have been coming there since early on. Fun to sit at bar + chat with regulars. Thoughtful wine list with good values. Friendly + knowledgeable staff. more

Best place to spend weeknight on the UWS! 8/7/2006

We just moved to the neighborhood and have fallen in love with this restaurant! The steak frites are the best - and I am a french fry afficianado. crab cakes - to die for and the goat cheese souffle has been my summer staple along with the cedar smoked salmon. The bartender is my favorite! everytime I go, whether alone or with my husband, he introduces us to everyone else at the bar and before you know it, we are debating anything from dosdoyevsky to Thailand to martha stewart to Opus One. And if we are really lucky, the manager will open a bottle of wine from the reserve list for staff education and will let everyone try. It's a great place! Exactly what I want my neighborhood restaurant to be! Ps- take out is good too! great for when it is just too hot to go outside or cook. Pros: very friendly, very tasty Cons: not always enough seats at the bar more

Favorite NYC Restaurant 7/14/2006

I was lucky enough to stumble across Bistro Ten 18 when visiting my son at Columbia. It is a friendly neighborhood restaurant with wonderful food and excellent service. It has become my favorite NYC restaurant. Meals are fresh, delicious and interesting. Service is attentive and gracious. I look forward to visiting my son and the Bistro over the next three years. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: The location could be better more

Great Meal 7/12/2006

As an upper west sider, it's nice to be close to a restaurant as good and as pleasant as Bistro Ten 18. I've been there a couple of times and highly recommend the chicken. For dessert, the brownie sundae is about as good as it gets. I'll keep going back and hope that more good restaurants follow its lead and populate the upper west side. Pros: Food, location more

Almost choked with all the fish bones 2/5/2006

This restaurant looked so cute and they even gave out a complimentary tasting of wine, but the ambiance came to a quick end as I discovered numerous bones in the fish. Even the mussel appetizer was marginal and overcooked. Well at least the bread basket was nice. Pros: ambiance Cons: food more

Terrible Management! Do NOT Go with a Large Group 1/10/2006

I was recently part of a 12-person party for sunday brunch and they had us waiting OVER AN HOUR for our food. We didn't leave because we didn't want to make a scene. Perhaps he was ""annoyed"" that we ""inconvenienced"" him when the reservation was changed well in advance. There was another large party but we were treated as 2nd-class citizens. We had to ask for bread after 45 minutes and even though our waiter was GREAT, he had to ask the stiff manager to comp us a round of drinks for waiting so long. The un-customer-friendly manager comped us NOTHING for waiting for room temperature food, so we stopped ordering drinks. He only kept giving us the evil eye as to ""intimidate"" us. With this type of customer service, I'm surprised the place is still in business. It's ONLY advantage is the location of which there's nothing else around. Pros: good menu Cons: poser sunday mgr., inefficient kitchen, LONG wait for food more

the perfect neighborhood place! 10/23/2005

I just moved to the neighborhood and thankfully have found my brunch spot as well as my weeknight hangout. The bar is perfect for single diners - the staff is friendly and talkative, but they also sense when you want to be left alone to read or study. I've been there 4 times already this month- the service was a little slow one day for brunch, but that's okay because the bloody marys were excellent and so was the food when I got it. As for dinner, my favorite is the steak frites or the crabcake. I will definitely be bringing friends here to try! Pros: good for friends, good alone, take-out Cons: none really more
