East Side thrift shop - a little expensive! 12/12/2005

Prices are high unless you go when they have a special sale when clothes tagged acertain color are 50% off. Clothes are hung neatly on racks or folded neatly in shelves at the front of the store - Make sure you fold them back if you look through them! Men's Ralph Lauren Polo dress shirts are about $25 regularly but you have to look really carefully - some of the clothes have snags, pulls or dirt around the collar (ick!) A few shelves of used books and some VHS tapes but nothing special. Salespeople are volunteers and are helpful and pleasant. They take donations in the back most of the day. more

It's located in a posh area so you'd expect really nice things, but usually there's not much good stuff -- and for what it is, not worth the price. The problem with city thrift stores is that timing is everything -- usually the good stuff is gone as soon as it goes on the shelf, from other hunter shoppers or the professional boutique buyers. It's for a good cause but you might as well donate t he money instead of adding more junk to your place. more

Great thrift shop! 7/31/2005

Small Upper east side thrift shop. Everything is nicely arranged and neatly in order. They have clothes(men's, women's and children's)$10 and up, books, knick knacks. Prices are reasonable - clothing with a certain color tag is half price each day which drops many items under $10. They also take drop-off donations readily - place your name and address on a paper inside the bag (you don't have to list each item) and you will get an official receipt in the mail within 2 wks or less. Open every day. more
