Everything was spectacular. Food, service, and ambiance. My wife was all dolled up for her 30th and I was \r in suit and tie. I heard a famous model was denied dinning due to $1000 pair of jeans. I saw at least ten people wearing jeans and one person , that of course was dining close to us, was wearing jeans, sneakers, white socks and a wrinkled untucked shirt. That wouldn't be so much of an eyesore accept he was also loud. Please bring back the dress code. Diners can be as loud as they want, just dress accordingly. They're not serving hot dogs and there aren't any bleechers at Fiamma. Show chef some respect. Pros: What aspecial treat. I tried the veal tongue. Cons: Dress code has been terminated. more

I had one of the best Italian meals the other night at Fiamma. I did not realize there had been a chef change and renovation of the restaurant, but wow, what a change! It is a price fixe menu and they also offer a chefs tasting menu (not sure if they did this before). I decided to have the chefs tasting menu to try out all sorts of different dishes and get a feel for the chefs direction. I must say, each dish was very different and suprising, with top-notch ingredients and preparation. On the night I went, I had burrata, crab, pasta, lamb and a few other courses including dessert. I really loved all the courses, but my favorite was the lamb. It was so rich and tender and literally melted in my mouth. They also have a superb Italian wine list and how can one resist a nice Barolo? It can be pricey, but it is definitely worth it. more

I went to Fiamma this past weekend for the first time since the new chef took the helm, and was absolutely blown away by both the food and the service! From the moment the reservationist picked up the phone until the manager wished us a good night, everyone on staff was both professional and friendly. Our server was very knowledgeable on both the food and wines, and was really helpful in assisting us with choosing our 5 course menus (there is a suggested one, but we were free to create our own as well). The chilled tomato and lobster soup, the lasagna, and the cherry wood smoked lamb were the real stand outs that evening. Most of the food we had was very rich, and the portions were fairly large; it took us a good 3 hours to finish. We never felt rushed or crowded, even as the restaurant filled up around us. The manager was by the host stand as we were leaving, and seemed to take a genuine interest in how our evening had gone. All in all I thought the evening was worth every penny! Not sure what this last poster is talking about. I live in the neighborhood and dine at the bar at Fiamma approx. every other week and they have never even had Osso Buco on the Menu? The bartender always takes superb care of me and knows his way around the menu and winelist. Either you are confusing them with another place or this is a baseless ""smear"" piece. more

Ate at Fiamma last week and had an amazing time. I had tried the chef's food before so I knew I was in for a great meal, yet I was still taken aback. My guest was a certified 'picky diner' so I was worried her restrictions would hamper the evening, but the server went out of the way to explain the menu to her and make suggestions, and in the end she loved everything! I did the 5-course menu but my date only wanted 3 courses, and not only did they let us do that but they sent her out an extra course so she wouldn't have to sit and watch me eat. \r \r My favorite dish was the duck. It comes with a special sauce that is poured table-side. The flavors are incredible and the French service is also a nice touch.\r \r The staff was professional but friendly - not stuffy like in other fine dining restaurants. The maitre'd was happy to move us to a different table when we asked and remembered our name on the way out! We will definitely be back. Pros: Unique menu, comfortable tables, friendly staff more

Had a lovely dinner this week at Fiamma. Service was good -- and we ordered the chef?s tasting menu. Some things that really stood out -- the asparagus appetizer, which was striking to look at ? slender butter poached white asparagus, crumbled pecorino and dabbed with foams of sweet pea and nepitella, and some lemony tempura fried sorrel leaves. Next came the pasta course, this one was like a tortellini primavera. The pasta was filled with lemony ricotta, and was tossed in a light but meaty broth with slices of baby artichokes and marjoram. The pasta was topped with parmesan and flecks of lemon zest and garnished with bright yellow pea shoots and celery leaves. The skate was also very good, with mussels and a spicy seafood broth. Our baby lamb was tender and was accompanied by a casserole of spring vegetables, yellow and green beans, peas, fava, and baby zucchini studded with fresh mint. The chocolate dessert was sumptuous. Would definitely go back, especially to try some of the other pasta dishes. Buonissimo! Pros: tasting menu was a great value more

We had a beautiful evening at Fiamma. The whole place is very discreet for the fact that there is constantly someone around you to service. Food was very good- my friend had the clams (whcih were huge for an appetizer) and I had a very interesting salad with friend beans and an egg. Followed by lasagne and Aragula risotto there wasn't even enough space for dessert but we had to get one and were not disappointed: 75% chocolate mousse with something like mint foam and roasted pistacios- absolutely delicious!!! The cocktail were too strong in my opinion. They tasted like pure whiskey. And the tables are very high and chairs very low. So you feel like a little child sitting in front of your $85 three-course-menu... Pros: Quiet, cozy, small, discreet and nice background music Cons: A little overpriced for what the food is more

This was a great restaurant at one time! I don't know what happened. The service was terrible but what made that even worse was that our waiter thought he was the best. I thought to myself ""could anyone be more snooty then this guy"" but that question was quickly answered when we asked to speak to the manager. We complained that we had to ask someone to find our waiter every time we wanted wine poured from our bottle and that our main course was a small piece of meat surrounded by four medallions of fat. He fixed everything by placing our bottle of wine on the table so we could pour it ourselves and by sending over two deserts for the table to share. We refused the desert and asked for our check. Also he should loose the phony French accent!\r The one plus is that they do have a great wine list, it is too bad it so hard to get it into your glass. Ate here a 2nd time and experience was vastly worse than the 1st. Not the food; the food was decadent which is one of the reasons I returned, but the service was shameful and snooty.\r \r I rated food a 4.5 because it is a prix-fixe so there is not a whole lot to choose from and all the choices have small portions. \r \r I rated service 1.5 since the hostess and coatchecker was nice and we were seated on time with our reservation, but all else was inexcusably well below par. Our waitress clearly had a chip on her shoulder, with obviously cold eyes and exerting only the most minimalistic effort with the specials and wine, serving it just once. \r \r When she served the courses, she literally just plopped them down and vanished before we could even thank her for it. Then she left us alone for 45 min while we ate, and only returned to ask if we needed anything with our meal after we were clearly done. Yes, this happens when restaurants get busy, but her coldness was undeniable and way too apparent for that to be the case. All I can say is you could see it in her eyes that she didn't care and that made the difference for us.\r \r After ordering dessert and coffee, dessert came in a reasonable time but the coffee didn't make it for another 30 min. No apologies, no explanations.\r \r Took another 30 min to hail the water guy to ask for the bill. She brought it and then disappeared. What happened to good service and people realizing that even in expensive restaurants, a healthy tip still has to be earned? Some people really deserve that upscale rest. position, while others don't, so stop using it as your own personal power trip! You're not immortal, and no, you're not all that.\r \r Overall, the food was fantastic but the service is the reason I won't be returning. There are plenty of restaurants in the city with great food AND great service in New York, so please don't waste your hard-earned $ and time on this one. I am ecstatic! I had at Fiamma the most memmorable meal ever!!! how is it possible to portray such incredible edible culinary art....Fabio is the most talented chef in NY and the fact that the restaurant is in Soho makes it even better, accessible, fun, misterious, fashionable....Fiamma has it all:the look, the class, the romanticism, the location, the service....impecable! I was looking forward to dinner at Fiamma, especially after the great review by the Times. A friend and I went on a Saturday night. The service was great and people were very friendly. However, the food did not live up to my expectations, especially for the price. I got a five course prix fixe meal ($100) and most of my dishes were average in taste or salty. The sepia was good, but not great, and certainly not the level of taste I was expecting. I wanted to enjoy the lasagna, but it was so salty I kept asking for more bread to eat with the lasagna. I also had wild bass, which was good but not outstanding. By the time I got to the rib eye veal, I was so full from eating bread and drinking water that I only got a couple bites in before having to put my fork down. \r Hopefully my experience was an aberration; but, unfortunately, I won't be returning -- there are too many good restaurants in nyc to enjoy. more

Looking forward to another fabulous dining experience, I was surprised to learn that the original Chef has left the building and the new management pretty much replaced the entire staff (I only saw one familiar face). Nontheless, I kept an open mind and was more than willing to try the menu.\r \r Unfortunately that's where my enthusiasm ceased. The food portions were tiny; more suitable for ""Sheba"" the family cat than the clientels of an upscale Soho eatery. As for the taste, it was disguisting...please tell me in advance if you were to serve me ""brain"" aka ""soft bread"". Gone were the impeccable old menu with tasty treats like the Gargonelli (sp?) and the fabulous waitstaff. Instead, the management decided to replace the place with an overhyped/untalented chef and a ""flock"" of robotic waitstaff.\r \r Btw, do not waste your money on the $85 Truffle Rissotto...it's nothing more than Truffle oil with rissotto served in microscopic poritons. \r \r Guys, c'mon this is MANHATTAN, do you honestly expect to survive with food my dog won't eat?!! Fiamma is one of my favorite restaurants and Danielli is an excellent manager. The other reviews here sound like out of towners; waiting 25 min for a table is expected in New York and reminding people at restaurants about birthday parties should be a given. We've had many birthday parties here and I'm planning another. They are more than perfect when it comes to food and service. I'm also Italian and know great italian food when I have it. Perhaps the others are accustomed to checkboard tableclothes and lots of red sauce?\r \r This place is golden. Period. Skip Babbo and Battali's over salted and over priced food. Pros: Great Service; attention to detail and ambience. Cons: Can be a little noisy and getting reservations is tough. That's because it's so good. more

The service was elegant and unassuming- However, the server's continual addressing of my wife and myself as ""ladies and gentlemen"" was emblematic of how pretensious the experience was. The clams were moving on my dish as it was served- obviously intentional as an effect only- and while the food was good, it neither great or memorable.
