Guaranteed Great Place to Dance 2/1/2010

I went to bOb a few Fridays ago and entered with a $5 cover as usual.. don't get scared about it because it is WORTH IT if you like to dance and hear great music. Lots of different types of people - black, asian, mexican, white, etc; I love NY for the many types of people that head to bob bar. The DJ was so on point he definitely makes the night worthwhile! I actually never notice this place, until i spotted a line outside and can hear the music pumping from E. Houston St. Let me tell you once i entered I was in amazement how crowded and nice it was. Trashy People 1/3/2009

Don't recommend this place, they let all trashy people in here. Left after 15 mins because we were getting pushed around on the dance floor by these girls who were being jerks, they were just trying to start a fight getting in our faces. We went outside to leave and a few of the girls came outside and one s p i t in my friend face! Obviously, they were just trashy bridge and tunnel girls. Really ruined the night, we just wanted to dance...... too bad. Pros: $5 Cover & OK music Cons: Packed, small, and trashy people more

Best music 12/8/2008

I came to bob a few weeks ago. Honestly from the outside it didnt look like a place i would particularly go into but i met some friends there and wound up staying till the place closed. They played the best music all night long. There was not one time that i sat down. And its hard to find a place that plays good stuff all night long. it is very tiny and it got real packed but it wasnt too bad. it wasnt all hot and stuffy in there and the drinks were pretty strong and not too overpriced. Great Drinks, Great Atmosphere, Great Location, Great Staff!!! 7/19/2008

I came to bOb on Friday, July 18 @ 7:30pm because I wanted to check the place out and decide if I want to have my party there!! Maaan, I ended up leaving at 2:00 in the morning!!! The music from the time I stepped into the venue was on point especially. They played R&B/reggae/Hip-hop/Old skool rap r&b classics. They even mixed in some Madonna and Journey in there!! Although the place was small, it wasn't uncomfortable and I am a big fan of original brick walls and they got'em. The drinks range from $6-$10 dollars, the crow was diverse and nice looking, people came into the bar DANCING!! Everyone was there to have a great time! There wasn't a bathroom line and there was enough seating because everyone was UP dancing!! \r \r One of the highlights was when Fatman Scoop (HOT 97 on-air personality) was their just relaxing and did an impromptu ""performance"" LOVED IT!!!\r \r Anyway I will be having my birthday there next week and I looking forward to it!! Pros: music, dj, people, drinks, bartenders, service, atmosphere Cons: I wish it did have a second story or bigger...but hey why fix something that isn't broke! more

Best music, Great staff, strong drinks 12/14/2007

I just went to BOB last night with a group of friends and had THE BEST TIME!!! It's so rare now in the city to find a place where you don't have to deal with door issues, pretentiousness and can really let loose after a long week. Everyone was dancing to the amazing hip-hop and everyone seemed to be having such a good time. Such a great vibe. I highly, highly recommend if you just want to go out dancing and not have any worries. And the bartender Gib is the best! Pros: DJ, Bartenders, Crowd, Location Cons: NONE! more

THE place to dance 11/21/2006

Great DJ - played all the hits and had people sweating. Drinks were a bit overpriced, but the music and dancing makes you forget about the price. It's a tiny space and gets really crowded, but that's what makes it fun. I had such a great time there - would definitely recommend it. Pros: Great Music, Dancing Cons: Crowded, Cover more

i've been to bob quite a few times an always have a great time! the music is perfect for dancing, the crowd is diverse, and it's totally not pretentious. it can get really tight and hot in there, especially on a Friday or Saturday, but you can still have a good time and shake ur moneymaker. Bob is a great, unpretentious lower east side club where you can go, let your hair down and dance. The bouncers and bartenders are professional, even friendly. The crowd is diverse and always fun. Unfortunately, the Saturday night DJ has trouble getting on his groove. After a playing a few good ones, he loses the crowd night after night. I'm from Queens but I travel to the LES to go to Bob! The atmosphere is awesome, the bouncers are cool as hell, the music is always good and the drinks are relatively cheap and strong... When I've had one of those days or just want to let loose I head to Bob's! I absolutely love this place. more

yeah yeah bob... the girl to guy ratio was terrible. all the girls without boys were on the floor. I tried dancing by myself but got depressed as there were more guys on the dance floor than girls too. the music was good and i wanted to dance but again the 1 GIRL to 2 GUY sucked. I guess it was a night that they let too many guys in the joint. I found the bouncers were friendly when i joked around with them though. i'll go again but i'm definately taking a date next time. too many dudes. girls it's in your favor. This is my favorite local spot. When people go to this bar, for some reason, they just let loose. This is the perfect place to be for a laid back scene where people arent too worried about sweating and getting their make up ruined. Go for the best hip hop and reggae music you'll ever hear at a local bar, that is if you're not afraid of a little sweat! Oh yeah...the bouncers have to be a little rude, they cant let everyone in there, its a very small bar. Advice: get on their good side, I guarantee you'll never have a problem getting in again! I'm speaking as somebody who used to go to Bob's all the time. Bob's is the most chill, fun hip-hop spot in NYC. It is probably smaller than your living room, but that adds to the charm. You can't find a friendler crowd, the music is fabulous, and the drinks are strong and cheap. The bartenders are nice, though they need to start giving more free drinks, especially when you've spent a lot of money at the bar. go to bOb's if you want a blast. it's ultra ghetto, but it's just SO fun. it's like the college days: ghetto partying at its finest. amazing music? FUN crowd? trying to meet someone hot but so very cool too? or wanna just chill w/your friends or relieve stress? bOb's IS the place for all that and more. it's small & crowded but it's got such character - chill, smooth. and easygoing. people just go up and talk to each other, i got to talk to many, but spent most of my time there w/the hottest guy i've ever seen in NYC & got some stares from the other girls who wanted him! :) ...just note your drink may get bumped out of your hand because it does get crowded. & make sure you go to the bathroom beforehand because the line is LONG here. happy bOb-ing! i went to bob with two girlfriends and we had a fabulous time. but, i don't think that that was because of anything special about the place itself, but more because we *wanted* to have a great time that night... it REALLY is just a small place to get drinks and dance. also, it was a thursday and we didn't have to pay any cover. Fun people over here. Went one night for a birthday party and danced up a storm. It's tight quarters so when it gets full it can get a bit crowded, especially with those dancer's who take up way too much room b/c of lack of coordination, you know what im talking about.
