Face Saving 12/17/2010

I have been suffering with acne problem, I tried EVERYTHING! I mean it, EVERYTHING! Nothing really works. I stumble into this place one day to check things out, and the facialist saw me, and she started chatting with me about my skin. In the end, she talked me into getting an acne treatment. It kind of worked after the first time. I went back. 5 treatment after, my face is clear, really really clear. I guess the products helped too. But seriously, if you are like me, try this place. Note: she does try to push you with extra treatments, just decline them. I guess she has to do that. The cold mask helps tho, but it is another $50. more

One of the Best 12/17/2010

I just moved to New York last year, and I am still trying to find out about all the ""hot spot"". I am very used to spa services when I was in LA. And this place is so far the only place I found that can match what I had in LA. Yes the Spa isn't as glamorous as some might ask for, but they do their job very well. The only thing that I have not tried is their massage. I am a regular to their mani pedi and waxing services. They were GREAT. more

Terrible Spa Experience 3/31/2010

The spa is not clean at all. Their massage therapist are very unprofessional and rude. They don't respect the client's personal privacy. The rooms are very cold and not inviting for a massage experience. Cons: Very unprofessional staff more

Horrible! Terrible! 9/2/2009

Last month, I came to NY and experienced my first time Only for men spa there. The person who did the massage for me was terrible. He tried many times to touch my butt and personal place. I felt very uncomfortable. He kept touching me. It is terrible men spa. The place is very dirty. I will never ever be there again.I never thought going to ends up my first time men spa like this. Not recommended at all! more

Good spa, bad massage 8/10/2009

As a spa enthusiast, I have been going to this spa periodically. Twice I went for the body scrub/massage combination and the practitioner was terrific. I left feeling energized and like a new person. Twice I had the hot oil massage after workouts and found the first one better than the second, but still worth my time and money.\r \r The third hot oil massage was the worst. It was not a full body. It was some body rocking and some upper back work. The strokes were boring and not fully executed. The masseur spoke too much asking bizarre questions which I found distracting. The massage had no start to finish feeling. It felt like we were getting started the whole time. I kept waiting for the hot oil and it never came. On the way out, I found it rude that the masseur was watching me figure out his tip. I gave him a standard tip, but not my usual generous one. I told the receptionist that it was not a hot oil massage. The masseur said he didn't know that's what I wanted. The receptionist said he told him. He apologized. Mistakes do happen, but when asked which massage he gave me, he had no answer and did not know. It felt like a bad Chinatown massage. \r \r In addition, I was in the first room which is a far cry from the other rooms in atmosphere. The lights were bright and it felt very clinical. In addition, there was no music until the end of the massage. The walls were so paper thin that I can hear the rest of the staff speaking loudly in the lobby. \r \r I feel that I should have been offered more than an apology for this bad experience. I am now turned off by this place and left feeling ripped off and disappointed. \r \r I gave a 3 star rating based on my overall past experiences, but this experience only deserves a half a star. I will not be back anytime soon and have an appt at Wellness Men's Day Spa as I am still looking for the massage experience I did not get. Never been there but hoping it will be a great experience. Pros: Friendly staff; reasonable Cons: Not all the staff is created equal more

its a great place 5/18/2009

I have been going to Why Not Men's Spa since it opened and I must say its a great place to go to relax and get a great massage. I have never been disappointed in all my visits. I would say that I have been going there once or twice a month for years. I enjoy getting a massage from Peter but all the guys there are great- Anthony Pros: its a place for guys more

Paid for nothing! 12/29/2008

I went here randomly to get reflexology. What I got was a glorified foot rub. In fact, I think the Mexican that does my 17 dollar pedicure massages my feet better then this guy. There was NO reflexology. I have this done many times, he barely did any pressure points along my feet. This was a complete waste of money. Sorry. more

WAXING 11/23/2008

Peter does a fantastic job waxing and is very polite. No break outs, rashes, bumps or pain. My comfort is their pleasure. I wouldnt bother going any place else Pros: Friendly staff, Perfect wax! Cons: you cant always afford the massage... more

Hands Down the Best Spa in NYC!!! 9/18/2008

They have great Brazillian waxings, and it is always nice to treat yourself to one of thier excellent manicures and pedicures. Best of all their pedicures do not use the machines that keep bacteria in them. Highly recommended\r \r Pros: very nice peaceful setting more

Best Mani/Pedi, Anywhere! 9/17/2008

I have been a Why Not customer from the beginning and I must say, it is the best place for relaxation and grooming. The location, the ambiance, the staff - all top notch. Just really quick, one day my usual manicurist was unavailable. I chose a new one and in the middle of the pedicure, I was unhappy with his performance. In the blink of an eye (ok, a nod of my head to the Manager), he was swapped for a new one. What other spa does this, on the fly, no questions asked? I have never been pushed into purchasing services I did not want and the staff has always been overly accommodating, if anything.\r \r If you're looking for quality service, a serene setting, and a wonderful staff eager to attend to your grooming needs, Why Not is the place to go.\r \r PS: David was wonderful when he did my Manis, Pedis and Massages. And, Alan is just The Best, period. Pros: Staff, location, interior, services Cons: They don't do hair! :) more

Most amazing facials! 9/12/2008

Last month I went in and I had a Deep pore facial with Sammy! It was the best experience I have ever had. My skin has never been so incredibly smooth and soft! Everyone was complimenting me! Not only did I look great, I also felt great. I would recommend this to every mens who needs that revitalizing treatment! I've never been this satisfied! \r \r Pros: good environment, peaceful. more

Beautiful pedicure 9/12/2008

I had a pedicure here once before years ago, and forgot what an exceptional job these guys did, until recently when I went back! First off, this spa provides a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. you feel miles away from the city. Secondly, the location is great! From the soothing foot massage, to the lotions and scrubs, my pedi got me lots of compliments. Most importantly, I love it. \r Pros: Ambiance more

Worst Service 8/29/2008

I tried Why Not for the first time and I regret I ever went in there. David gave me a pedicure and was extremely rude. Granted I do not have the best feet, however that is why I pay 50 dollars to go to a professional place. He made me feel very uncomfortable as he was clearly talking about me to the staff in a foreign language. He huffed and puffed in the process and gave a horrible and quick massage at the end. I have been getting a pedicure every 2 weeks for the last 7 years and I never had this bad of an experience. When I went to pay the bill, I tipped him 6 dollars in cash (I should of gave him nothing for his attitude). He said ""That is all you give, you are so cheap"". Then I said that he did not do a good job. He said that if I do not have money don't come in here. The manager was not instrumental in mitigating the situation. This place has no class, and over charges for its service. Never go back again!! Pros: Horrible service, not trained, bad attitude. Very low class and cheap atmosphere. more

Great experience, Fabulous results! 8/28/2008

I had heard a lot of great things about Why Not Mens Spa, so when I was having really blah skin I decided to see what all the hype was about. I was so impressed. I've suffered with moderate acne for ages and could never find a dermatologist or esthetician that could really help, but Sammy was great! She taught me new ways for acne control that I thought wouldn't work--and now they do! She sat me down and looked at my skin and helped me come up with something practical. Most dermatologists give some 12-step regimen just to make it look like they're doing their job, but Sammy helped give me practical advice that really works! And I didn't feel like she was judging me or my skin. She was so nice and helpful! The treatments were also great. I got a micropeel- a chemical peel and microdermabrasion, and acne treatment. I've tried everything on my skin-including microderm and chemical peels but the results have never come close to this. I was glowing for weeks! Overall, fabulous experience Pros: Friendly, great services more

Relaxing Spa, Nice Massage 8/28/2008

I went to why Not spa for a massage recently as it was recommended by a friend. I liked the ambiance and the masseuse was very nice and extremely professional. When I left, I felt one hundred times better as my back had been hurting me for quite sometime. Why Not definitely did the trick!\r \r Pros: Massage, Ambiance, Professionalism more

Best Waxing 8/25/2008

This is my first time writting reviews, I am urge to share this to all the men in New York. I am a very hairy guy, I have been getting my body waxed for a long time. One day I walked by 19 street and saw Why Not, ""Why Not?"" \r \r It was wonderful! It is by far the least painful waxing I have gotten! No really! I was thrilled! For all the hairy New Yorker out there, this is the place to go! more

Take it from a regular 8/23/2008

I have been an wellness mens spa for many time and I must say that Why Not Mens spa is located in chelsea. They have wonderfully beautiful decor and some of the best service you can find. I've been coming here regularly for the past month and I have seen them grow and evolve from a baby to one of the city's most up and coming spas. Normally I'm not the type to write reviews but in this case I feel that it is completely worth my time to say how offended I am about the claims of poor service at the spa. I have tried almost every service and I love the facials (especially with Sammy!!) they do wonders and trust me when I say my skin needs some work. Its not dermatologist quality but please ppl remember that it is a COMPLETELY HOLISTIC SPA which means NO CHEMICALS!!! The massages and body treatments leave me in a state of bliss every single time. I have never had a major issue that needed to be resolved. Any issues or complaints I've had have been completely recepted by the front desk staff. I have observed them with some of the most pretentious a-holes and I gotta tell you they do much better than I ever could. So here's the key to solving any problem: DON'T EXPECT IMPOSSIBLE SOLUTIONS!! Pros: Great Ambience,Good Staff,Very Clean, Good Service more
