Old School Pizza 6/27/2010

I've been going to V&T for many years and as long as they change NOTHING i will continue to make sure i continue to go there for a long time. Make sure you have enough people to eat all this food Pros: Good Price Cons: Too Far Uptown more

Good pizza, usually. 5/30/2008

I usually really like their pizza, but the last time the cheese was sparse and there were several dry air pockets in the tomato sauce baked crust. I only order delivery, which is timely, but I've also had some pasta that was pretty bland (baked ziti). Hopefully the sloppy pizza last time was just a fluke because it's usually quite good. Pros: Nice service, timely delivery, good pizza Cons: Patchy pizza in past, pricey, bland pasta. more

You Charge Extra for That??!!??!! 5/14/2007

20 minutes ago, I would have told you this was a great place to get a home cooked meal. I just called for delivery and was told that getting pasta underneath my chicken (not getting red sauce) would cost me extra. So placing my chicken on the pasta that I will get as apart of my meal and NOT putting red sauce on it will cost me extra??!! No, thanks. I just threw their menu away. There are too many great places in the city to deal with this level of ridiculousness. If you?re looking for really great Italian on the UWS, go to Le Vela. It?s outstanding! Pros: Close by, good food Cons: Extra costs more

Best Pizza in NYC! 1/15/2007

When I was attending Coulumbia, V & T was a weekly habit for me and my friends! The salad pizza is the best pizza I've had in NY, and we have the best pizza in America right here in NY! If you're not in the mood for pizza, try the Eggplant Parm...Mmmmmm! A really great place for friends and family...worth the trip uptown just to check it out! Pros: Great laid-back place Cons: service isn't too good more

The Gold Standard 11/28/2006

As a full-blooded New Yorker (born in NYC, lived in Brooklyn, eaten just about everywhere), the experience of watching that ridiculously cheesy Pie gripping the round metal tray as it comes toward your table is like stumbling onto an oasis in the Sahara. The "experts" and the "guess what, I've been here ten minutes so now I am a New Yorker" seem to favor pizzas with the same charcoal taste as your Great Uncle's fireplace or the insulting decorative pie with small slices of Mozzarella, a dab of sauce and spices that more closely resembles a focaccia bread than a pizza. V & T is comfort food, it envelops your senses and makes you happy. If you want nuance and subtlety in your pizza then make it yourself or wait in line with other self-important palates. If I wanted soot with my pizza, I would have been a chimney sweeper. more

It's OK - nothing too fantastic 10/24/2006

Went here on recommendation. Pizza OK, nothing so spectacular. Try it if you want to or you can save your $$$ and go someplace else. more

Best Pizza anywhere 7/3/2006

V&T is what baby pizzas hope to be when they grow up. They sit and read about the exploits of a V&T pizza: its deliciousness; its flaky, tender crust; the perfection of the tomato sauce and cheese combinations; the supreme pepperoni. They pray to their Food Gods to make them into a good pizza like V&T's. Some baby pizzas get their wish. Others have to go to other restaurants and feel sad until they're eaten. Yeah, sometimes the service can be slow. If that's a problem, go to McDonald's and destroy your insides. Pros: pizza, pepperoni, staff personality Cons: staff speed, take out isn't as good more

Plain pizza shouldn't be this plain 6/26/2006

My cousin and I went there recently. We are from the boroughs, she from Queens and me from Bklyn. Her comment, which I think says it all "this tastes slightly better than stuff I would get at Shea Stadium". Cons: No slices, only pies more

Good food, horrible service 1/2/2006

We only order delivery from V and T because the service is horrible. The pizza is delicious, very thin crust. more

Slower than molasses 8/22/2005

To describe the waiters as slothful would be polite. Not only are they painfully slow and inattentive, but they're rude to boot! The food is mediocore at it's best, and in no way does it come close to compensating for the remarkably bad service. Cons: Bad service, Bad food more

V&Ts has the best pizza in New York City. It's great for kids. more

V&T Pizzeria - The BEST in NYC for MANY YEARS 4/26/2005

Pizza - the only pizza in NYC that should not have additional toppings - the crust tastes like the best, freshly baked bread! Veal Parmigana - Better than Patsy's! Much more reasonably priced too! I take all my NYC guests to V&T's. more

Great pizzeria 3/8/2005

This is one great place to eat pizza & more out but not a good place for take-out pizza. Because of the delicate thin crust, take-out pies get soggy in their boxes. Try their plain pizza with fresh garlic or eggplant. Their eggplant is so delicate, sweet & tender! Also, top the meal with a delicious and perfect slice of tiramisu. Waiters are slow but sweet. Pros: Eat-in pizza -perfect Cons: Take out pizza is bad more

Family place! 7/24/2002

I've been living in the Columbia University area for about 10 years with 3 kids - now in their teens. This is one of our all-time favorite. Great pizza at a reasonable price, variety of pasta, salad, pitcher of soda or water on the table, kids can move around without any comments by other patrons... Many family, senior citizens, students, and little league teams! I'd call it an 'italian dinner'. more

  • In Short
V & T's clientele is as laid-back a crowd as you'll find in the city. It's called a "pizzeria," but it's so much more. The pies will hit home with those who love the taste of a New York classic. The crust is crisp, the cheese generous and the tomato sauce has nothing to do with "nouveau." Also available: baked ziti, stuffed shells, pasta puttanesca, veal parmigiana and spaghetti with giant meatballs.
