For the 'mature' crowd 1/22/2003

Lots of older men! But they are who it is there for and it serves their needs well. If you want pumping music you should go elsewhere. This bar has a genteel atmosphere, has the decor of a gentlemans club and you need to be dressed presentably to get in. The crowd is generally considerably over 40 and if you are much younger than that, you will almost certainly be considered to be working and approached accordingly. If you feel at home with the older crowd, enjoy the piano set and want an evening where you can hear what the person next to you just said, then give it a go. The clientele is varied so you may make friends, just be aware that despite the glitter, it is very cruisey. You might just end up making an old man very happy! Whatever turns you on! Pros: Lavish Environment, Quieter atmosphere, Mature crowd Cons: Older crowd, Rent boys, Pretzels (yuk!) more

Editorial
  • The Scene
At this beautifully restored townhouse in Holly Golightly's neighborhood, young go-getters mingle with established businessmen. There may be some hustling going on, but if so it's more discreet than years prior when this bar resembled the New York Stock Exchange floor. Welcome to the new, demure New York, where the mix makes for the friendliest gay bar on the circuit.

    The Draw
The main bar--a locus for cruising--is the first thing you'll encounter. Beyond is a club room featuring a piano player banging out the show tunes, as well as a quieter downstairs lounge. Each room is appointed with "conversation clusters" of luxe furniture, fresh-cut flowers and charming oils and architectural prints on tastefully pink walls. The classically trained staff is used to pouring martinis, the suited clientele used to drinking them.
