Something for everyone! 8/8/2002

There are always things to see and do in Times Square, any time of day or night. There is plenty of food and shopping to satisfy people of all tastes, and being in the heart of mid-town Manhattan it is easily accessible from anywhere in the city! Pros: lively, shopping, sights Cons: crowded more

where to people watch! 8/6/2002

if you've ever wandered how many different things you can see at once this is it! i've been several times and i am always impressed i would recommend going twice during a visit, once during the day and of course at night!!! i would not recommend eating at any of the restaurants in times square, the food is mediocre at best and the service lousy and the prices..... as they say in the city fa get about it! more

Tourist Trap Worth the Money/Aggravation 7/30/2002

Although always crowded, and every restaurant/bar has jacked-up prices for the location, it's a tourist trap always worth visiting with newcomers to the city. The red ""ticket booth"" providing cheap tickets to great broadway shows is a must for every visitor, and for there are plenty of cozy pubs around for after the show. Pros: lots of lights, fun atmosphere, broadway shows Cons: crowded, lack public restroom, high prices more

What I think of when I think of NY 7/29/2002

Times Square was magical to me. The big lights in the big city. There was so much to take in it was hard to see it all! The naked cowboy was hillarious too. I would definately recommend this for any visitor to New York. more

The Red Hot Apple 7/26/2002

I've lived in New York City for most of my adult life and I'm still finding both the commonplace and the unique. Times Square is always changing with the times and I sincerely hope it keeps doing it. more

Gives Me A Headache, But Definitely NYC 7/22/2002

Times Square is just one of those places that everyone should visit while in NYC. Since I live here, I know I get a headache walking through there, but between the shopping, TV studios, and cheesy restaurants, any visitor should have a good time. Pros: Tons of Stuff Cons: Expensive more

Times Square is HOT 7/22/2002

I think the best place to go in my city is Times Square.. It is kid friendly, I go there all the time with my children. I go there to movies, or just walk around, day or night, anytime. I have never been robbed around this area iether, I guess due to the crowds, and there is always free entertainment on the streets. Pros: arcades, movies, ease of transportatio Cons: people overcrowding, scaffolding/construct, too near Bus terminal more

Flashy, Crowded & Definitely NY 7/18/2002

There is nothing else like it. Times Square is overwhelming in the best way possible. Be prepared to blink. Even the most jaded New Yorker is struck by the lights, action and uniqueness of Times Square. Pros: All hours, Unique to NY Cons: Crowded, No parking, Tourist prices more

Only for the Craziest of Tourist!!! 7/18/2002

After spending 2 weeks in NYC, the most memorable times were spent in Times Square. From going to the visitor's center and having a picture put up in T.S. for 5 seconds or going to BARCODE and drinking a Sevendust bowl we never got tired of going down to Times Square and walking around. Pros: lots of people, entertainment Cons: expensive more

Bright Light Area 6/10/2002

If there is one place that I love to go to, it is Times Square. This place can be seen if you are in the downtown area in Manhattan. If you are located in 14th St.- Union Square, Herald Square-34th St., or any other area by Times Square, you can see the bright lights and know what area it is to find your way! Great place for tourists and out of town people to see the Big Apple!! Pros: Arcades, Movie Theaters, Virgin Megastore Cons: Crowded more

Depends When 5/27/2002

Times Square is probably only rivaled by whatever the central area of Tokyo has for crowds and raw spectacle (Vegas doesn't count--they're just doing for show). That said, unless you have a strange fetish for being in chaotic masses of people, I'd stay away between 7-8pm and 10-11:30pm. The shows really make getting around and even really seeing what's going on pretty hard (even by yourself). More seriously, the cops on horseback that are ever-present during those hours make me nervous. Pros: Unique, Visually amazing, Many stores Cons: Cops on horses, Rush crowds more

Let It Glow 5/14/2002

If someone had but one hour to see but one site in New York, I'd say check out Times Square--no buts about it. This ever-evolving spectacle bewitches me after dark. The newfangled curvilinear moving image billboards remind you why Vegas is a capitalist's mecca; the old-fashioned high-tech signage like the Planter's Peanut Man and the gigantic, steaming cup of soup has lost none of its charms either. I even enjoy the Howard Johnson's simple lightbox. Take a close look and you'll see drool dripping off the poor dog's tongue. Be forewarned: Sensory overload makes this a pickpocket's paradise. Pros: Flashy Cons: Odors more
