The Village Scandal

This store is amazing! I've been there many times for everything from hats to scarves to jewlery and even an adorable lipstick umbrella!!! \r \r The sales people were so nice and helpful and even gave me a discount for being a repeat customer. \r \r I ""liked"" hats in the past but now ---- thanks to The Village Scandal --- I LOVE hats and can't have enough!!!\r I would recommend this store to everyone!!!!! more

Um, I don't know what was with the guy that got bounced. I have purchased three hats from this store, all appropriately priced with an excellent fit. I have gone in on occasions and not found anything to my liking, and gone back a week later and found a perfectly wonderful piece of head wear. If you don't find anything you like there, look around elsewhere and come back another time, because I think they change it up often enough. I used their layaway plan for one particular hat and it worked out fine for me. I got the hat, I paid the remainder of the amount. Bam. Bada Bing. Bada Boom. No hassle. I've been wearing hats for years, and this store fits my style perfectly. It was a sad day when gentlemen stopped wearing hats and started wearing ball caps. They project dignity and composure, and in my opinion a man needs both, and he needs a hat. The pork pies are superb. Also, the last time I was there, they were playing the new live Clash album that was recently released. And they've got those foxy 20sish flapper hats for women that are so popular now. Yums. Pros: good selection at reasonable prices (for New York anyway) Cons: can't think of any more

The Village SCANDAL is the perfect name for this store. THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. I sincerely recommend NOT shopping here. \r \r I gave a cash deposit in order for them to get in a hat in a size they didn?t have in stock. Then when they couldn?t get that hat, I had to add to my deposit for a custom hat I picked out. After 7 weeks and no hat, I went to the store, the sales girl looked all over for the hat, clearly it had never been made, so I asked for my money back (I mean what good is a straw hat in September after all!). I was told I could only have a store credit, well....I wasn?t returning anything so it wasn?t a refund...not to mention there was no visible store policy anywhere, and then...well let?s just say mayhem ensued...I was accused by the owner of having reached over the counter to steal money from the register, she called in two bouncer like guys from the bar next door to I guess, bounce me out, she shoved me to try to get me out...now I ask you...why would I want a store credit? The last thing I would ever want is a hat from this store sitting on my head!\r \r In the end, after some more haggling and time, I did get my deposit back, even though she did not give me back the full amount, stating that was what her records showed. The sheer fact that her ?records? were incorrect (I have the deposit sales slip which shows how much I did pay) helps prove to me the lack of professionalism of this business, not to mention the glaring lack of customer service.\r \r Honestly, if I had been told, ?Oh we made a mistake, we are so sorry, the order got lost, how can we rectify this??, I would have been disappointed by not getting one of the TWO hats I had already tried to get, but I would have felt like they took responsibility and I would have been willing to try to find yet another hat. They could have had their money, and me a hat...but now all they have is me writing this and telling every single soul I know about just how awful this place is. Cons: Customer Service more

I was browsing through the site looking for hats. Since i have what i think is a small head, it is hard for me to find the right fit. I went into the store just to see if maybe i could find something. Well damn they have a lot of hats! The woman working there was super helpful and after only a few tries she found a number of different styles all in my size! Great place. Great people. Will definitely be back!!
