Best

Have always enjoyed my visits to this restaurant. Definitely THE tribeca neighborhood must-eat! Pros: Great food and ambiance Cons: none i can think of

Worst

I sure was suprised to see no vegetarian entrees on the menu-- not a problem one often has in NYC. The french fries were too salty. Diners are allowed to put their own ketchup on ...

New American Goodness 5/15/2006

The service and ambience at The Harrison is top-notch, but it's the food served here that makes this restaurant worth coming back to. New American has never been one of my favorite cuisines, but The Harrison's appetizers and entrees have turned me into a fan. The combinations may seem unusual, but trust me, the taste is delicious! Pros: Service, Atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

Still good but not as good as before 3/30/2006

This place always has consistent fare but it is not as good as it used to be. There are some good dishes & okay dishes now where before everything was good. Service is always cordial & professional. Nice ambience. Simple & continental. Nice plus is window doors all around so seems roomy & airy. more

Great Experience 11/24/2005

We just came back earlier this evening from the Harrison for our Thanksgiving Dinner and OH MY GOSH!!! It was so great. The portions at first seemed somewhat small but believe me by the time you finished the meal which included appetizer, entree, side and dessert you are absolutely stuffed!! The creme brulee was the most amazing dessert. It was the best I have ever had. The prices are a bit steep ($11 for a cosmo!) but it was the kick-off for the holiday season. Definitely on our list to return! Pros: fantastic food, great service Cons: steep prices more

Service: WOW 10/31/2005

NYC is oftentimes difficult to navigate if you're in a wheelchair; and that's once you get passed people's rude and insensitive behavior to the city's disabled. The staff at The Harrison, however, from the manager who brought out a heavy plank of wood to help bring my friend's chair into the restaurant, to the waiter who doted on my friend and I with attention and smiles, is an exception to this. What kind, courteous and non-condescending service we received. I would certainly come back; the food was delicious (though not plentiful) and the setting is absolutely gorgeous without being pretentious. Pros: Service, Wine List more

Delicious! 5/6/2005

The Harrison is worth the trip down to Tribeca. Even though you might be dining next to Citigroup and their clients, the food was great. The atmosphere was casual and professional. They had beautiful cherry blossoms and a great selection of seafood. The dessert of delicious. I would definitely return. Pros: atmosphere, food, wine more

Great food and service 3/22/2005

On my visit to New York my boyfriend booked a reservation here for our anniversary and the food and service was wonderful. Our skate and cod dishes were cooked perfectly and tasty but it was the Peeky Toe Crab appetizer that blew us away (highly recommended). The food also came out pretty quickly. Good for special occasion dining. Make sure to make reservations. Pros: service Cons: noisy more

Top notch service, cool ambience 2/14/2005

The maitre de, waitress, wine expert were phenomenal, which sounds odd as the first thing to mention but the service really made this a great evening. The food is very good, very creative, with a lot of great seafood options. Wine list is very extensive. A bit on the pricey side, but worth it. In a very cool part of town. All in all a great place, and a great sophisticated evening out. Certainly not a hip, happening place. More adult than young place. Pros: Service, Ambience, Wine List Cons: Pricey more

Still good after so many yrs 2/1/2005

I had not been here in a couple of years & went on a Thursday w/o reservations. Host & staff are still very professional & very attentive. Up keep of the space is well maintained. Food is still good but nothing special. Price is very decent also. Not running back here anytime soon but still a good staple restaurant in Tribeca Pros: quiet location, good food, great service Cons: lots of suits, bad dessert more

update 1/20/2005

You should reallly update your site. The chef of the harrison is no longer Joey. He was great but the new chef named Brian Bistrong is truly awesome. It brings the place to another level. Check it out. more

Comfort food at its best 8/22/2003

We LOVED the Red Cat so we had very high expectations for The Harrison. We showed up SO late for our reservation and they still sat us immediately (we did give a courtesy call and they told us not to worry!). It was such a cozy environment and we just had a great dining experience. I had the lamb and the meat just fell off the bone, the way its supposed to! The food was phenomenal, tasty but simple and just well prepared. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine list and dessert was just decadent! I cannot wait to go back. more

good innovative american cuisine 8/19/2003

Innovative food of good quality. Great deserts. Good wines. You should go. Pros: innovative cuisine, food quality more

Wall Street, but better 7/31/2003

Lots of suits and a so so decor. However, the food and service made up for it. We were a party of 7 and we had prompt curteous service . Definately try the chocolate cake. more

Group 7/26/2003

Not impressed. I wouldn't go back for their food. The portions were adequate and pretty, though I didn't feel it was anything worth going back for. Check was pretty steep. My friends and I split the check. I didn't care for the scene? The atmosphere was somewhere in Maine, although I had never been there before. I wasn't sure who was our waiter/waitress. There was a table with two children screaming, that didn't help our dining experience. The wine list, I've seen before. I guess I just won't go back, nothing really stood out for us to make an effort to visit again. Cons: Pricey, Location, Food okay more

thanks 7/3/2003

ate here for the 1st time, already excited for a return. service was considerate and friendly, really helpful with suggestions (i'm picky), and attentive. the food was fantastic (great balance btwn fish and meat dishes) and not fussy. so nice to see a busy restaurant that lives up to hype! Pros: service, FOOD!!!!, atmosphere more

You like service, ambiance and food? 5/22/2003

Checked out the Harrison during Tribecca Film Festival restaurant week and immediately went of the Prix Fixe menu for some tastier choices (truffle oil risotto and pan seared chicken w/various herbs was as succulent/savory a bird I've ever had). Arrived late, but calling ahead worked, and they REALLY held a table for 2 of us! A plus in my book...add constantly refilled glasses, folded napkins (when you left your seat), courteous service and a wine list to match. Yeah! Pros: Service, food, ambiance more

Simplicity at its best 5/5/2003

Without reservations we were seated immediately, this was only the start of the excellent service provided by the Harrison. The waiter, who reminded me of a cute double for Scrub guy Zach Braff, couldnt have been better. The menu consisted of interesting flavors and combinations, which were then clearly demonstrated in the presentation and taste. I went for the bass, which was served with asparagus, watermelon radishes and yellow tomatoes. It is one of the best dishes I have had this year. The chef was even kind enough to offer us further insight into what went into this creation. My boyfriend went for the lamb which was served with a lentil / couscous combination, a bit odd served together, and the only setback of the dish. This is clearly the better of the two (Red Cat), and well be back soon again Pros: Romantic, Excellent Service, Interesting menu more

great date place 2/26/2003

Terrific wines, great service. Hard to go wrong here. Not pretentious. more

What a disappointment second time around 1/18/2003

A huge disapppointment second time around. Upon arriving requested not to be seated in the center of the restaurant because of the noise level. Was told we would be seated by the kitchen so we were forced to take the table offered. Even though there were four tables available at the time. (We should have left right then). The only good thing tonight was the service. Great waitress, water glasses always being filled, bread plates replenished. Wine was good. Such a limited menu compared to last time, quite disappointing. Special fish offered overcooked. Chicken dish dry. Hericot verts delicious (requested no brussel sprouts). VERY NOISY by 9 PM. The restaurant was so crowded that they won't miss us. But to be truthful, we will not miss them. Pros: service Cons: food preparation, food selection, noise level more

Simply Wonderful 1/5/2003

We've eaten at The Harrison many times, and have always had a great experience! The staff is amazingly nice, helpful and accomodating; the food is fantastic, the atmosphere/decor is gorgeous - over all it's just a wondeful restaurant. Pros: Beautiful, Romantic, Great Value more

nice people come in first 12/13/2002

the door, the bartender, the waiter, the coat check girl...where are the grizzled new yorkers? friendly, attentive, professional - and the food!! wonderfully rich, homey and sophisticated (scallops AND sweetbreads, with a pomegranate sauce, yum) food that flat out tastes good (try the ravioli appetizer, steak, char - i have a feeling it's all good). the atmosphere is happening, but our server seemed to genuinely care. thanks. Pros: service, food, people more
