Dr. Tan is a wonderful person as well as a doctor. He puts you at ease and takes the time to explain what is going on. He is humorous and gives you a sense of ease. I go to Dr. Tan for acupuncture, after my girlfriend recommended him after curing her ankle injury after 3 sessions. I went for my plantar fasceatis. While Western medicine was pretty good, I was always left with a managable but persistent pain. After my first few sessions with Dr. Tan, I found dramatic improvement. The marked difference gave me the real result of being able to walk around without pain, instead of living with low grade pain. Dr. Tan is fully aware that acupuncture is not for every illness. As he put is, "After 3 sessions, I will know whether or not you are my patient". If it doesn't work, he won't push a false solution on you. An added benefit is that Dr. Tan is a Western-trained M.D. as well & brings that experience to bear on your treatment and into his perspective of acupuncture, and vice versa. He actually sees non-acupuncture patients, in his modest Chinatown office. Dr. Tan takes a number of insurers and handles them extremely well. If you're going to be sitting on a table with needles stuck in you for 1/2 an hour, it's really nice to have such a wonderful person by your side, to boot. I make to reservations raving about this doctor.
