I purchased a Platinum package that was a massage, facial, mani/pedi and eyebrow wax. The location is new I was aware of that but what I didn't know was that it was still being worked on! The place where they do the massages and facials is next door to their nail salon which is fine. But next door it seemed like they were still setting up! During the first part of my massage there were people talking right outside the door including contractors talking about leases and stuff and this went on until I complained to my massage person who went out and the voices became lower and more sporadic but did not go away completely. Several times I heard running water and I think a drill being used! This was all over the terrible muzac that was playing which consisted of maybe 5 songs on an endless loop. During my massage I heard the instrumental Muzac version of that Dido song the one where she says 'my teas gone cold I wonder why I got out of bed at all"" I heard it 6 TIMES while getting my massage and 3 during my facial.
I've had many massages before and my massage person was nice enough but very inexperienced. I actually don't believe this person could possibly be certified. She started rubbing me through the towel that was on my back, yes they only provided a towel not a blanket, and kept it up for 10 minutes until I thought I would get some type of rug burn and asked her if she was going to use any oil. She said she was just getting my body warmed up which was stupid, I never had anyone start off a massage that way. She immediately started using oil and actually used way too much of it. The room was chilly and the table was not a great one and not heated and she never corrected anything when I complained about the cold. I received a hot stone massage which I was charged $20 extra for even though on the phone I was told it would only be $10 extra from the price I paid for my package. The lady did not seem to know what to do with the stones, she spent about 40 minutes on just my back and then just rubbed my arms and legs as an afterthought. When I turned over there was only maybe 10 minutes left to my massage. Oh and the first time the lady put the stone on me she burned me not realizing they were too hot. She never placed the stones on my Chakra points which is what I have always understood a hot stone massage to consist of. Also her massages were not focused, she pinched me several times maybe thinking she was doing something good for my nerves but it was just painful and annoying. She used her elbows and all which is common but again it was just not rhythmic and unfocused. I think she may have created more knots than she smoothed out. To top it off she used so much oil after I asked about it and mostly on my back that to get it off she used a hot wet towel which felt fine at first until she removed it and my already cold back froze in that chilly room. Not a great experience, I've never actually been happy that my massage was over.
The facial was fine except when I've had 1 hour facials while the mask is on and drying or soaking in the person usually takes that opportunity to give you a shoulder and neck massage. This person just told me I could rest awhile and left the room for 20 minutes.
My pedicure was pathetic, I heard the owner tell the lady who was doing it that I was a 'special' which I came to realize meant do absolutely nothing. The lady wet my feet, scrubbed them for about a minute, rinsed and commenced to painting my toes. Meanwhile everyone around me was getting nice leg massages and nice scrubbing on the heels, it was terrible, took maybe 10 minutes. If it hadn't been part of an already paid for package I would have refused to pay for such shoddy service. I let them paint my nails, refused the eyebrow wax that came with my package and left.
I would not recommend Serenity Spa to anyone for any reason! I wish there was a zero stars option.
