Fun local zoo 8/18/2006

I have been going to the San Francisco Zoo for years. It has been improving a lot lately. They have a new African section, where you can see giraffes and zebras when you are coming into the zoo. They recently added a parking lot which is convenient. The food is getting better again too. They still have the upgrades they made a few years ago, and now they have added an "Asian food" section. They have a playground for the kids, a place to have a(n expensive) birthday party, and kettle korn! They also have a nice lemur exhibit and just opened a new bird exhibit. It is also very convenient to the beach if you want to do that as well. more

Great services and events 8/9/2006

We have been a member of the SF Zoo for about 4 years now. They have been improving in those years. They now have the lemur exhibit, the African Savannah, and the new bird exhibit. They have a cute little train and carousel. The Children's Zoo section is fun for kids, with an insect zoo, petting zoo, an indoor exhibit where you can touch animals, etc. They also have been improving their food. They have a new Asian themed restaurant to add to their pizza, pasta, sushi and Gordon Biersch garlic fries. more

Fun for the kids! 7/22/2006

We have been members at the zoo for about 4 years now and really enjoy it. For one thing, being in San Francisco it is almost guaranteed that it will be cooler than home so we like to go just to get out. The lemur exhibit is fun, and we love seeing the giraffes and zebras too. I think the favorite "exhibit" for the kids is the train, however. They have recently started taking your picture on the train and then trying to sell it to you afterwards, which I think is a bit much, but mostly the zoo is fun for everyone! We like to meet people there because it's a convenient location and fun for all ages. more

Memories of childhood 6/15/2006

This zoo is constantly adding new exhibits, one of which is the African Savanna, where you can see giraffe, zebra, kudu, ostrich and other African wildlife. They also have a section designated just for children, with a carousel and and resource center. Perfect for a day out with the family. San Francisco residents get a reduced admission, and first Wednesdays of the month are free. more

Used to be great 12/29/2005

I used to go to this place a lot when I was young. It had a lot of variety of animals back then, but now, theres less animals and less attractions. I like how they have free admission on the first wednesday of the month, but theres not much to look at anymore. more

san francisco zoo is a wonderful place to visit. San Francisco is cold so you need to prepare for any weather there. I like their petting zoo and the different animals there. I can spend hours there looking at all the animals. Food there is expensive so i suggest you either go out to eat, eat later or bring a lunch. Nothing is cheap so bring some money if you want something. It's a great place to relax and be with the nature more

Zoo time 10/11/2005

Ilove to visit the San Francisco Zoo. Its a huge place that can take you hours to get though, but its wonderful for the children. I liek the petteing area the best because teh kids can interact wth the animals. Of course the food stand is a bit expensive, but its the same price as all other amusement places. And it does get a little cold in that area, so bring along a sweater. But its a great place to take the kids for a day of fun. more

SF Zoo 9/27/2005

I love to visit the SF zoo. They have a lot to offer. It can be a whole day adveture becuse the space is so big and there are so many different things to see. the best part of the experience is when you get to watch all of the animals being fed. I also like the pengiun colony because I can never find that at any oher zoo. My little nieces also liked the children area with the petting zoo. The zoo is a wonderful place to visit, but I advise to take Muni or public transportation beacuse parking is so hard. Also, you have to be careful of the weather here. It can get pretty cold, so don't forget a jacket! more

San Francisco Zoo 9/6/2005

This is really a great zoo. It is way bigger than the one in Oakland and they have alot more animals to see. Their children's zoo is also alot bigger and they have so many more farm animals for kids to pet there. You need to wear comfortable shoes though because it's alot of walking but well worth it. Just an enjoyable place to go. more

I love to visit the zoo with my parents. You can finally be able to appreciate all the different animals around. It is good to visit there if you are stressing out because of work or other problems because you can think of something happy. It is great way to spend time with friends and family and bring everyone together. It is quite an experience and you won't be bored there. more

The San Francisco Zoo is bigger than the Oakland Zoo with more animals. The Zoo is a great place to take kids to and see exotic animals. Well to me, I think the Oakland Zoo and the San Francisco Zoo are alike but are just cities away. They have different events held each month and is a interesting place to visit. more

I love the zoo 8/18/2005

The San Francisco Zoo will always have a special place in my heart. I've been going there since I was a kid, on free days of course. My favorite exhibits are the bears, the big cats, the penguins, and the Australian outback. Don't miss the lion feedings in the lion house! You can literally stand about 10 feet or less away from the cats, and they're so gorgeous up close. And the carousel is beautiful too. Try to go there on a sunny day! more

San Francisco Zoo 8/16/2005

I used to visit the San Francisco Zoo quite often because I liked going to this zoo more so than the other ones in the Bay Area. Here you get to see animals in their appropriate natural surroundings (predators are separated from their prey of course). I personally enjoy the Savanna Exhibit, Gorilla World (where you get to see the gorillas up close behind a window), and Penguin Island especially (stick around during the afternoon, when the zookeepers feed the penguins!). more

San Francisco Zoo 8/15/2005

My kids just love to go to the San Francsico Zoo. We always try to go once a month on the first Wednesday of the month because that is their free admission day. During school time the zoo doesn't get very crowded but during the summer vacation the free days is like a zoo, you can't hardly get an elbow in to look at the animals. So we don't go there on the free admission days during the summers. more

if you like animals, then come here 8/12/2005

located in the sunset district. this place is the zoo. not like the san diego zoo, this zoo is well, plain and boring. but you do get to go in free on wednesdays. i guess if you want to bring your kid there or something, this might be the place to be. but in san francisco, there are better places to be at than spending a day at the zoo. more

San Francisco Zoo 8/9/2005

My kids just love going to the San Francisco Zoo. It's a fairly large zoo, well maintained and attractively landscaped. They have a children's zoo where my kids love to go to pet all the different farm animals. They also have a train and a beautiful carousel that my kids insist on riding every time we go to this zoo. We always schedule our trips there to the first Wednesday of each month because that's when their admission is free. They have plenty of free parking out on the street and one parking lot right by the entrance at a fee. more

San Francisco Zoo 8/8/2005

This place is so much fun to go to with your family or friends. They have lots of animals and cool things for kids to do. The first Wednesday of every month is free admission. They also have cool gift shops at the Zoo for visitors and a train ride around the Zoo for the kids to enjoy. Bring some money for lunch and you're all set for a great day at the SF Zoo! more

zoo 8/5/2005

This zoo is alright. I mean, I guess it's pretty good compared to other zoos. I which it had some more attractions for older kids and adults. While looking at animals is fun for the little ones, it does tend to get a little dull and boring for adults. Food here is horrible and truly disgusting and overpriced. I have eaten better hot dogs at Costco. The only "ride" they have is a train thing that just makes two circles around a pretty small portion of the park. The tickets for the train cost $3. Rip. Off. more
